Fog Dude Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 The results went into the opening post last night, and the table was uploaded shortly afterwards. The average score was 8.21 points, which is about right for an international round. My attempt to add a tenth fixture from club football resulted in a shock result, penalties and a dud in terms of scoring, so the high mean is even more remarkable when you consider it's out of 9 matches (or even 8 for those who picked late). Before we get to the other games, however, let's look at the top of the standings and see that second highest scorer SNRN10 is the first to break the 300-point mark this season. He's now extended his lead to a whopping 18 and looks very difficult to catch all of a sudden. Reigning champion MVP RULZ bested his tally by one with a haul of 15 this time out. He consequently moves up a place and there's a bit of movement elsewhere too. Worst performer this week was ultimo, and at the wrong end, the gap has increased to 9 points now. As for the European qualifiers: a stalemate in Hungary proved remarkably fruitful, whilst in the same group, a narrow home victory at Windsor Park also yielded many one- and three-pointers. Only one participant thought that Gibraltar would score, but he and most others thought that the outcome at Hampden Park would be closer than it turned out. In that Home Nation-filled pool, Ireland's late equaliser against the Poles saved as many points for people as it lost. Further afield, triumphs on their own turf for Portugal and Croatia were useful as well, but the former's wide margin of success meant there were no correctly guessed exact scores. A scoring draw in Sofia was tough to foresee, but England and Wales went marching on as widely predicted, especially in the former case. Next week there'll be 7 Friday matches out of 20, rather than just the 1 out of 10 this time, so keep a lookout for the new Easter double card coming shortly...
