There goes any chance I had of cracking the top 9.

Eh? Have you actually had a gander at the table yet? It's been up to date since early yesterday morning, along with the final scores being in the original post. A 4-point gap to 9th wouldn't be insurmountable in a normal week, but with 126 points up for grabs next time instead of the usual 30 (though there are no bonuses), I'd say you've got a great chance if you have a decent round.

That said, this week I think Seph's posting of Jean-Luc on this occasion is a facepalm on behalf of us all. A very low-scoring round, which just goes to show how unpredictable many results have been this season, right to the end. The gap at both ends of the table is tantalisingly placed at 10 points, and things are still close enough around the middle for there to be a lot of movement there in the final round. Well done to joe mills for being the best of a bad bunch this time with 8 points, Ratty has already mentioned his homage to Eurovision, but it was smp who kept himself well in contention for the wooden spoon by only scoring 2 from the full card - and yes, they were both thanks to the Old Firm.

In fact, 18 of 19 participants took a point from the Rugby Park match, with only steve brave enough to wager that the Gers might slip up, a hypothesis blown apart within a few minutes of kick-off. Similar story at Parkhead where everybody got at least a point, with 2 managing the exact score to boot. Apart from that there were hardly any 3-pointers: steve was responsible for one, foreseeing exactly how the instant classic relegation clincher at Wigan would pan out; a couple of people got the Cup final spot on; the random Spanish games accounted for the rest.

Apart from that, it was the other EPL games that proved so unhelpful to players, with nary a point scored among the 4 matches. Villa's win at the Emirates, the extent of Brum's surrender to Fulham (in what was a meaningless fixture for the visitors), Chelsea's failure to beat Newcastle at home for the 2nd time this campaign and Spurs' victory at Anfield all caught out virtually everybody, an were admittedly surprising even to experts.

I think that's everything then. Last thread of 2010-11 due soon. I've toyed with the idea of adding Cup finals and in the end decided in favour, because I can't resist the consistency of 42 games for the 42nd round. Even though penalties can complicate things massively, the English showpiece didn't do us any harm and I'm willing to risk that the Scottish and German equivalents - with their even more overwhelming favourites - won't do so either. Find out in a bit, I guess.
