GalaxyV.2
On the Forest Gump thing, if it is a Republican propaganda film, then why is he portrayed as a huge idiot? Its basically the story of a guy stumbling his way into big events.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted April 6, 2011 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2011 He kept his mouth shut, did as he was told and went on to huge success. Whereas those who embrace the counter culture and question things get AIDS.
steve rayson
I'd say it's an easy one and Forrest Gump takes it without a question. Hanks is a very good actor yet I feel a lot of his films didn't work for me as good as Gump did.
mickfan
I'd pick Forrest Gump as it really was a masterpiece. Ever since seeing it I've viewed Tom Hanks as a loveable everyman even though he's a critically acclaimed actor and probably a wanker in real life. Love that film. Â I also love Big, cause as a ten year old I loved the idea of getting my nuts into a thrity five year old womans guts. Â Castaway is brilliantly acted aswell. Fine display of method acting and when Wilson floats away you find yourself willing him to risk life and limb in a rough sea to fetch a ball. Paid Members Carbomb Posted April 7, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted April 7, 2011 Bloody hell. Only just noticed this thread, and I'm finally relieved: I thought, for so long, that I was the only one who thought Forrest Gump is an utterly hateful film - I was beginning to think maybe I'd misinterpreted it. Happ Hazzard
I thought Forrest Gump was crap even when I saw it at the cinema in 1994. I couldn't believe it won all the Oscars that year.

I'm not judgemental at all on differing lifestyles. I'm 100% in favour of letting people do what they want as long as it doesn't affect anyone else and they don't expect anyone else to pay for it.
