Thanks for the kind words so far. I'd love any further feedback, including to the Dynamite Kid article.

Really enjoyed the Dynamite article, but as always, the highlight for me was the World of Sport article. This months was great.

Brian, any plans to turn all of those articles into a book? I wish I had kept them all but I always bin the mags as don't have space to keep them.

Finally managed to get this today after some tech problems with the iPad all (which FSM and pocketmags have been great with) and it's great. Haven't delved into the second half yet, but the article on Punk was really well written and sourced, and the PPV reviews were enjoyable as usual.

Bought the current issue today on a whim. I very much enjoyed the "Taste Test" article. Comparisons between wrestling and pornography might be old hat, but I found it very well written and interesting. Much better than most of what I've seen from Power Slam.

Shall be delving into the rest of this issue tomorrow.

I bought this month's issue. If you flick back over this thread you'll see I'm mostly pretty positive about the magazine, but I'm afraid I wasn't impressed with the current issue.

There were some definite highlights - the Hogan interview, for starters. I know you wanted it to be a two-parter, but a magazine consisting wholly of that interview with just the regular features added on would have been a great way to go!

The monthly Lister article, and the ones on El Generico and Jerry Lynn were good as well.

The two Luke Dormehl articles, however, brought the whole thing right down. I really don't want to sound like I have a grudge against him (I'm obviously totally over that whole 'taking potshots at a reader in the letters page and then in an article the following month' thing, obviously) - but I read both the articles, thought they were both pretty substandard, and then checked to see who'd written them, and it was him both times.

I dunno, maybe this month he just had some tricky subjects to write about that weren't his forte, but when you compare it to a Lister feature, there's a massive gulf between the two. The one on re-matches at WrestleMania was an interesting subject, but you wouldn't know it from reading FSM. It just didn't seem to go anywhere - I couldn't figure out what point was trying to be made. There are rematches. Yes, got that. But are they bad, are they good, are they necessary? Dunno. He also took yet another opportunity to belittle Undertaker in this article, which seems to have been a recurring thing for years with Dormehl. WHAT DID THE UNDERTAKER DO TO THIS POOR MAN TO MAKE HIM HATE HIM SO?

Then there was the article on comedy in wrestling, which read like one of those first essays you do as an undergraduate that you think is really insightful and deep and gets you a 2:1 which you're pretty happy about, but when you rediscover it clearing everything out after graduation, you look at it and think, my God, I wrote some utter shite in first year, didn't I? It smacked of pretentiousness throughout, and again, I have no idea what point it was trying to make. Wrestling has elements of comedy. Right, lovely. Stop trying to sound intellectual and make a coherent argument, please.

I don't know if Luke Dormehl reads this thread. If he does, I'm sorry for sounding so negative. His articles since Brian came on board as Editor had improved tenfold. I was actually enjoying some of them! It's honestly nothing personal, but this month's were a big step back for him and for FSM as a whole.

Brilliant Hogan interview though

Oh, also, can you get your writers to stop saying "this writer" or "this author" when referring to themselves? It sounds pretentious when the broadsheets do it, never mind a wrestling magazine.

Good issue this month, which I read in-depth while going to and from Broxbourne last weekend.

Thought the Rocco article was good - I don't know enough to be aware of the errors, but there you go...

There were a couple of date errors in the rematch article - one I can recall without actually seeing it said Angle/Benoit from WM21 either took place at or the year after WMXX. That one stuck out to me because the author had specifically pointed out an error he had seen in a blog earlier in the article, 'those in glass houses etc etc'
