Any news on UK coverage of the FOX debut show?

On Premier Sports. From their Facebook this morning:

"Premier Sports are delighted to announce our latest UFC offering. The massive heavyweight title fight featuring Velasquez vs. Dos Santos on Sunday 13th Nov, 2am will be live and free-view only on Sky channel 433."

Oh do piss off (not you, the UFC), Virgin Media viewers getting fucked in the arse yet again.

Do you really believe that the people making the deal think "I know, let's go with the channel that Virgin Customers can't get" ?

Agreed. We tend to get these comments alot. Surely your Provider can pick up these channels if they so wish? It's hardly Dana and co sticking it to Virgin.

Or you could get rid of Virgin and get Sky?

No but considering the amount of times the UFC have done this in the past year with Virgin Media subscribers complaining about it, then responding with the usual "we are aware of this situation and are working to ensure future events will be available to Virgin viewers" spiel only to continually do the same thing again is baffling.

What was wrong with FX? They already have a pre-existing relationship with them, it can be viewed on all platforms (bar freeview) and its owned by the same company the actual show is being put on for. Common sense would have it be on there.

Problem is UFC are asking for way too much money from TV stations over here, did you know the reason ESPN aren't negotiating a new deal is because UFC were asking for 3 (yes three) times the amount of money of the existing contract and they asked far over the odds of which Sky were willing to pay. UFC are acting like they've already broken the market and are massive over here, which in turn means they are actually stunting their own growth.

Marshall Zelaznik has alot to answer for imo.

As a consumer, I'm not too bothered what they ask the networks to pay, that's upto them and whatever they think their product is worth. Obviously they are the number 1 organisation in the world, so they will go where the money is and whoever is prepared to pay it. Lets not forget they just signed to the biggest broadcasting network in America too, their not gonna be on the cheap over here, expecially when we don't even pay for PPV's like everywhere else. Because when that does eventually happen, were all gonna be pissed.

As far as them not being on FX over here, who's to say that isn't actually down to Fox and not the UFC?

We won't get a proper channel for these shows until August when the rights are available. I would expect we will get all the Fox shows on Premier Sports until then. They will then all get bundled together and go to another channel, FX, Sky Sports or possibly ESPN again if they can agree a price for all the programming.
