Everyone wants Japan to win the World Cup then yeah?

I don't think Sounnes does. He's probably still waffling on about needing FIFA to 'show us the pictures'. I mean, they already did, and the ball was still in play (just).

What a magical moment for Japan, ITV should be focusing on that, instead they have a miserable cunt killing the mood and Gary Neville oddly rimming him at the same time.

  2. Belgium have been absolutely dire this tournament, that's the end of the golden generation then. Chuffed for Morocco, could be them VS Japan in the next round right? Although I think that Germany will turn things around and finish 2nd in that group.

I watched the first two episodes of Willow yesterday. It's not terrible, but doesn't really have anything going for it anyway

  4. Who's going to play in the front on the midfield three in that line-up? Everyone will say Foden but like Grealish, he seems to be better out wide doesn't he? So you need either a Mount, Maddison or even Bellingham pushed forward (like VS Wales)- which in that event will mean either Henderson or Philips alongside Rice.

I'd stick with Rashford and Foden for sure after the last game, Sterling and Saka are incredible options to bring on late in the game (and vice versa). What a great problem for Southgate to have.

What a shitshow. Wasn't he one of the owners really pushing for the super league as well?

Massively, you could even say that it was all Agnelli and Perez. They were easily the two big names really pushing it and Angelli even backstabbed UEFA (que sera sera).

  6. Just realised it's going to come down to a crunch game between Switzerland and Serbia to qualify for the next round (although Cameroon are still in with a chance). That's going to be a tasty affair with some yellow cards. Xhaka, an ethnic Albanian like many Swiss, is either going to play out of his skin to win or get a red card after stomping somebody on a Serbian player's head.

  7. I liked the Al Fayed episode, thought it was interesting and the guy that played Mo was uncanny.

Not just Johnny Lee Miller, Dominic West makes Charles come across far sexier than he should.

We're a few episodes into this series. It's alright, I find it fascinating from a historical perspective when they cover certain events but The Crown isn't groundbreaking drama.

On the 'did Diana have a long neck' topic, I think this lifelike drawing confirms it:

  8. I was thinking this the other day, a long list of generational greats that are probably playing in their final World Cup. Perhaps Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves, Lewandowski, Neuer, Busquets, Di Maria, Lloris, Pepe, Bale, Giroud, Hazard, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Muller, Bryan Ruiz.

I know every year will feature loads of players in their final WC, but this seems like an end of an era. 2006 felt quite similar in some respects.

The group stage is only ever a “job done” situation,

Exactly that, agree with your post. It's just the group stages. Nobody steamrollers the group stages and then goes on to win the tournament anyway, do they? I can't recall the last time that happened. But Twitter was awash with #SouthgateOut last night. Good grief.

might be rose coloured glasses but i do remember the 2018 World Cup to be a belter.

2014 and 2018 were brilliant World Cups, so much better than the previous few World Cups. This has been OK so far, not as bad as 2010 or 2002.

"HAHA WE'VE BEEN TELLING YOU THAT FOR YEARS BACON!

Haven't seen any tunnelling from him this tournament yet though.

But definitely a valid point re Kane having to drop deep as there was no creativity. Kane should not be that much deeper than Mount than he was at times last night, which says more about Mount's performance in my view. Bellingham having an off day didn't help and Declan Rice was too pedestrian.

  10. Brilliant episode to end a brilliant series. The funeral procession scenes in Rix Road were so tense, every fucker that wanted Andor dead - the nazi woman, Stellan Skarsgard, Big Trev and Syril - all there waiting for him to show his face. The guy that looked like he's from Nick Love films battering everyone with Mama Andor's brick was ace.

What were everyone’s top moments from the show as a whole?

The look of happiness on Trev and Syril Karn's faces when they thought they got Andor, then watch it change after he got away, was incredible. I need a gif of Trev's smile during that.

And also the entire One Way Out episode. Fucking superb. Love the fact that you can split the series into Ferrix, Aldhani, Narkina 5 and return to Ferrix. Almost like 4 mini series' cobbled together.

Wasn't overly interested in the Mon Mothma and Patrick from Coupling scenes, but understand they serve a greater purpose given her role in the rebel alliance later on.

  11. Interesting to see Kane play as a deep lying midfielder tonight.

Christ, there was no impetus tonight. Just dull and devoid of any creativity. Foden should be starting regardless, not bringing him on to change the game is batshit.

  12. Just quoting Ashley Williams after he watched a replay of the Hennessey red card challenge after the match:

"It's just unlucky, not sure what I can say about that, he does catch him"

He does catch him? He fucking Schumacher 82'd him into oblivion! Imagine if that was a keeper against England or Wales, he'd be up there with Putin.

  13. Real shame that, Canada more than deserved something from that game. A real exciting attacking performance, if only they could finish! Some of the passes were a tad too heavy. This is what happens when you don't take your chances. They look a lot better than USMNT.

Batshuayi, goal aside, was fucking pants. An in-form Lukaku would've have had a hat trick in this game. Going by this performance, Belgium will be taken apart by one of the stronger teams.

unless Spain beat Germany as well.

Yeah...I think that's a fairly safe bet based on what we've seen today!

Germany must be absolutely shitting themselves, the prospect of a consecutive group stage exit is very real.

Really looking forward to Belgium VS Canada tonight. Shame about the first game today and the two really shite games during the afternoon yesterday. All of the other games over the past two days have been very good.

  15. It'd be the third major club he'll pretend to buy within the space of a year, right? Chelsea, and I'm sure I saw his name pop up elsewhere recently. Liverpool perhaps?

With his Chelsea 'bid', I remember him harping on about how he would spearhead a BRITISH bid for a BRITISH club that should have BRITISH ownership. The cunt changed his residency to Monaco 2 years ago to save £4bn in tax.
