scan and chuck the items back at you with lightning speed before you've had a chance to pick your nose and pay them

Ah, yes. I used to treat this like a sport. If it was an experienced checkout staff (an old girl that has been working the tills for years), I would almost certainly lose. But if it was somebody younger, lacking experience, I knew I'd stand a chance to pack everything on time.

  2. His eyes were open to sponsorship money and all that shite long before 94, his predecessor was the architect of that and Blatter picked up that ball and ran with it when he became general secretary of FIFA. The new document on Netflix is well worth a watch for this topic.

I know some don't like Tim Vickery

Why don't some people like him? I really enjoy listening to/watching him. Wealth of knowledge when it comes to South American football and doesn't come across as pompous like some do.

The Guardian football podcast have started to review the WC teams by group as of yesterday, so I'll be listening to that too.

I was bored the other night and did a very brief preview of the key players for the big teams. Might post it on here in a bit.

  4. Another thing with White is his brilliant overlapping with Saka on the right flank. More often than not it's a decoy run, taking a defender with him which gives Saka and Odegaard space. But when he does have the ball near the byline, he's also good. He will be well suited to a back three, which is where he played at Brighton (and was one of the main reservations Arsenal fans had when we signed him).

I don't think he'll play at all, barring an injury crisis. Unless of course England have already topped the group after two games (which I doubt), then he'll have a run-out in the final group stage game probably.

Kalvin Phillips going is the biggest surprise for me given he’s only played 54 minutes all season for City because of injury

That'll be because there are no other decent defensive midfield options as backup for Rice.

Clearly Wales have a squad depth thinner than my hairline, but can’t say I’m shitting myself at the thought of facing that.

You won't face that, you'll be facing one of Europe's in-form midfielders in Jude Bellingham instead.

  6. All that matters is Benjamin White, the best footballer in the Premier League so far this season that isn't called Granit, has made the squad. As he should do.

In other squad news, apparently Mario Gotze still plays football and he's somehow made the Germany squad! They have also picked the two young Dortmund forwards, Adeyemi and Moukoko. Really hope they get some minutes.

Belgium's squad seems like it hasn't changed for 20 years.

  7. Energy companies are cunts (like Tories) when it comes to direct debits. They forecast mine incorrectly EVERY YEAR and raise my DD too much, so I always have to reduce it. Now they've removed the option to reduce the DD yourself (Eon), so I've emailed them to reduce it.

I'm £580 in credit on mine, although I'm mindful that it will soon be diminish as we approach colder months with the new tariff. That said, I spent ages reconciling and calculating it and reached the conclusion that even noting this they are taking £50 too much per month, so they better reduce it.

You can ask for a refund of the credit balance, but just beware that your bills might shoot up over the coming months.
