  2. Meant to ask this awhile back but I forgot...At No Mercy last month MVP faced a complete no-name. When was the last time a "jobber" had a match on a PPV?

The first name that springs to mind is Dwayne Gill at Survivor Series' 99 against Mankind, however, I am likely forgetting some people. Didn't the Brooklyn Brawler appear in some sort of hardcore/match?
  3. Another question:Obsessedwithwrestling.com list Nigel McGuiness as debuting in 1999, but the write-up of his career mentions nothing befoer starting with Ring of Honor in 2004.Anyone know where he worked in the four and a half years inbetween?

Les Thatcher's Heartland Wrestling Association. Not sure when he started with them, but sure he was there when WWF was using it as a developmental territory.
  4. Does anyone know the music that EZ Money came out to in ECW? Its been bugging me for a while now. Sounds very much like AC DC, but I have no idea if I am honest.

It's Down on Me by Jackyl, a band notable only because they sounded a very much like AC/DC. I put it on in the pub sometimes.
    Cheers for the info Statto!
  5. People are bound to pop for the end of a huge title reign like that. I'm looking forward to Hero and Claudio being jerks in ROH, and Edgecrusher will learn to love it.EDIT - And apologies for the huuuge pic...But this is nice;KoWTimesSquare.jpg

"All Hail the Kings of Wrestling!"
  6. Glacier's real name was Ray Lloyd iirc. After that gimmick finished I think he played a character in WCW similar to the WWF's Coach (the guy who managed Mr Perfect at SummerSlam 1991).

Ray Lloyd briefly appeared as 'Coach' Buzz Stern, and the gimmick was sort of a bully boy high school football coach, and his pupil was 'Luscious' Luther Biggs, the typical fat out of shape student. They appeared on a few vignettes, Biggs wrestled a couple of matches, and then they both disappeared.
  7. How long did William Regal do the Steven Regal "The Man's Man" gimmick for in WCW

He didn't do that gimmick in WCW. He did it the WWF during his sort stint in 1998.
And I'd guess he probably did it for about 6 weeks, 2 months tops.
Though at least it gave us one of the greatest entrance themes ever.
  8. The intro is from "Roll On" by Aussie punk outfit 'The Living End', he used to use the whole song as his ROH entrance, it's a cool song, worth checking out.His new theme is a recent Oasis track called "Wanking In The Bushes"

NBT, you should have just put McGuinness in the search option. I asked the very same question a couple of months back, and Mr Lantern was good enough to respond then. (He also informed me who provided James Gibson's ROH music).
  9. On the off chance, does anyone have any idea whether the Louis Theroux/Power Plant incident was a work?

    No it wasnt.
    What actually happened?
On one of his Weird Weekends, Louis visited a WCW Nitro show and spoke to a trainer, "Sarge". After seemingly making friends with one another, Louis was up for going for a try out at the Powerplant training facility. However, later after the show, Louis annoyed the Sarge by asking about the pre-determined nature of matches. This annoyed the trainer who held a grudge until Louis turned up at the Powerplant. Louis didn't do too badly at cutting a first time promo, but then is forced to exercise and run until he "pukes" and is laughed/heckled at by all the other wrestlers after lying on the floor claiming to be a "dying cockroach".It just seemed like a work due to the seed planted at the beginning of the show at Nitro and then Louis admitting how tough the wrestlers worked. It put over the wrestlers but also provided entertainment.
This was also interesting if you watch it now just to see what wrestlers were training at the Power Plant at the time. Off the top of my head I remember seeing Elix Skipper, Ron Reis, Alan Funk, Hardbody Harrison, Chuck Palumbo and I think Johnny the Bull.
  10. Simon's Circus also had Simon's Dick, Dick Hertz. LOOK AT MY DICK, LOOK AT MY DICK, MY DICK IS HUGE!!! MY DICK IS VASCULAR!!! Ah Simon, once he was the greatest shoot fighter this side of Delaware... Now he manages some jabronis.

Talking with Lantern in the pub over lunch and we came to the conclusion that Dick was not part of Simon's Circus, but was Simon's bodyguard before the group's creation.
Big Dick Hertz was a guy named Brent Hamner who was a big jacked up stiff who was trained at the WCW Power Plant.
  11. I would be extremely happy if Rob is still playing in his band and living off his ill-gotten gains. That crazy bastard worked his ass off for a long time and made a shitload of money. By rights, he should never have had to work again.

Can't say enough good things about Rob, as he was always a pleasure to deal with and a superb wrestling writer (I always found him better than Fin Martin in SOW & PS). It was a shame when he gave up his tape trading, but I then moved onto buying off Glen Radford, who was also a great guy. I only ever bought one video off GWI, the people who took over from Rob, and was not impressed with the qulity (was an ECW PPV) so never used them again.
  12. I've been reading some of the really old Powerslams from back in 1994 and thee appears to be a lot of positive press on the Harris Brothers- in one article they are even singled out for stars of the future status- was this the general opinion of them at the time, and did they actually do anything to warrant this in ECW?

In ECW (against the Public Enemy) and in SMW (against the Moondogs) they had some awesome brawls all around the arena that were pretty intense and great to watch. They never recovered after becoming the Blu Twins in WWF, and don't even mention the disaster that was the Grimm Twins.
    Or Skull and 8-Ball...
or Gerald and Patrick, from the Russo booked WCW.
