  1. In the comic's I prefer the normal clothes version of Wolverine. In the films the X-Men leather is fine as I think the yellow/Red-Brown or even the mask would look out of place. If Wolverine wears a costume I like his X-force 1.

Would you prefer Batman without a mask in the movies too?

Different situation. Batman has good reason to wear a costume.

Some costumes translate well to the screen - some don't. Some of them can be adapted fairly easily, whereas some would have to be adapted so much you may as well scrap them altogether and go with something better.

And yes, they absolutely do need to draw in the non-comic book fans.

They do need to draw in non comic fans obviously but I think if someone's going to see a superpowers based action movie they're going to expect something fun and exciting and having bright costumes won't put them off.

  2. I think red is really the established colour for DD's outfit, I know the yellow one was first but he only used it for a handful of issues before they changed it. Wolverine's first costume was the yellow and blue one but I see the brown one as a classic costume for him too.

Come on man, you must be playing devil's advocate, you can't honestly think this

wouldn't've been cooler if it looked more like this

But you think this would be better suited for a film? Bright yellow? How you would try and convince people that there is a point to wearing bright yellow? Every Marvel film explained the costumes very well, there would be no way you could stick Wolverine in yellow spandex or a bright yellow costume made out of the same stuff wet suits are made from like fantastic four's was. Some things have a point to them Wolverines costume don't even in 90% of comics now Wolverines costume is a wifebeater vest and jeans nowadays.

Hey man, I'm not saying it makes sense to wear bright yellow spandex but I don't read comics because they're realistic, and I don't think they should change them to appease an audience of non comic fans. Maybe if wolverine's costume was yellow leather, a bit darker than in the comics and he had a mask it would've looked good. I loved Daredevil's costume in the film, it was cleverly updated for the movie, it wasn't like it is in the comics but it was still red, he still had a mask and all the elements that make his costume what it is, it just looked good in a real setting, with the x men they didn't even try.

  4. It doesn't have to be one thin layer of actual spandex but it should be as close to how it is in the comic without looking shit, in the Spider-man movies the costume is form fitting and only slightly varied from the comic and it looks great.

Wolverine in black bike leathers and no mask is not the character I like (although obviously I'm aware he appears frequently in civilian clothes in the comics)

A costume does not make the character. In Ultimate they do wear black leather.

Wolverines costume always stood out and compared to the rest of the X-Men, Bright Yellow and not even gave to him by the X-Men. While most are based on darker colours.

I'm really an old school comic fan, you're not helping the argument with me because I think Wolverine looks shit in that picture!

  6. Wow. That looks fucking amazing. That trailer's suddenly turned it from "OK, will probably pop along at some point" to "Holy fuck, got to see this the second it comes out" for me. I'm liking very much the way they've structured this.

Couldn't agree more. The trailer gave me goosebumps at how confident I am that this will be amazing

Couldn't agree less, I'm literally obsessed with superhero movies and I got bored halfway through this trailer. The dude playing Thor looks about as charismatic as Linda McMahon. I'll still go to see it as soon as it comes out though :/

  7. Yeah, that's a very good point and, you're right of course. It's more the jump from comic to movie, though. You can have Cap running around the front in his winged helmet in a comic, and it's fine because there's always a suspension of disbelief anyway. A movie audience isn't going to be as forgiving, so I can see the thinking behind making him less of a bullet magnet for those scenes. I honestly would hate an Ultimates style film, and I'm looking forward to how they do the full costume, but for the early World War Two scenes I don't have a problem with them striking a balance between the need for him to scream "AMERICA" with his look and the need to throw members of the Wermacht through walls in a semi-convincing way.

I always hear this and it annoys me, especially in regards to Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer, 'A movie audience would think the traditional Galactus looks silly'. If you don't want to have a 50' tall purple Pharaoh in your film don't have the character in it but please don't turn him into a fucking cloud  .

I'm a comic fan, I want to see the characters as they appear in the comics, would X-Men have been worse if the characters weren't all in black leather and Wolverine wore a mask? No, it would be much better.

  8. I think it's a good thing that he wont just jump right into the classic costume. He's going to be spending quite a lot of this film fighting Nazis in World War 2. Starting out with a more streamlined military costume makes sense.

I know what you mean but the way I see it is Captain America's classic costume was actually designed in WWII! Why design a new costume to make it look like something from 1945 when the old one is for all intents and purposes actually from the time?

  9. It's not a very good shot, but the first image of Chris Evans in his Captain America garb has appeared. It was taken from the footage shown at Comic-Con over the weekend, although it may not yet be the final outfit.

    141100.jpg

For Chris Evans has revealed that the costume evolves over the course of the film. Given that the movie has only been in production for around a month, we suspect we may end up waiting just a little more for a clearer photo.

    That looks so shit!

I hope it does end up looking vastly different to that, Evans' face looks shit too, big nose & weak chin, not superhero like at all

  10. I've got a feeling Green Lantern will be really good, I think DC comics have a lot to prove after all the successful great Marvel movies, DC's only hits in the last 20 years have been the Batman ones.

Depends how picky you want to get.Watchmen was a hit.And from DC owned prints you have:ConstantineStardustRoad To Perdition. All of which made significant profits and/or got good reviews.
Watchmen was amazing, I can't believe I forgot it, one of my top 3 films of all time.As for the others, I'm talking superheroes really.

Thor doesn't have bare arms, WTF?

Thor don't have bare arms in his current costume which I prefer out of all his previous. avengers-23-thor-rage.jpg
Right you are dude, I'm pretty old school with some of these characters, thanks for the education.
  11. Oh the pic of her is still there? I couldn't find it. I was looking for the creepy ones where he's forcing himself upon her

The one of them together was somewhere in the Post a Pic of Yourself thread, but that thread is way too big to go rooting around in. This one is from the 'iconic images' thread.

Just noticed the filename also; does no favours for the "I don't want to fuck her" argument..... just saying.

    FFS, what a freak!

  12. MrMidas,

Shave your head, grow a beard buy some shades and stop wearing girls' vests, you won't be perfect but it'll be a start.

Then look for another girl, unrequited love is painful bullshit and hanging around with a younger girl who you're not going to fuck won't do you any favours, you look like a dirty old man and other girls may (unlikely though) assume you're a couple and will be put off.

  13. Please tell me Reynolds is playing Kyle Rayner - he's so perfectly suited to play him, plus KR is so much more entertaining than Hal Jordan.

Also, I agree about the suit. I was hoping they'd go for that swish ski-type that Rayner used to wear.

He'll be Hal Jordan (who I must confess along with Guy Gardner is the only GL I really know)

  14. ewbigcover.jpg

Better quality (ridiculously massive pic) of GL

I'm no fag either (sorry hitman) but if anyone would change me it probably would be him.

  15. gl.jpg

Green Lantern's suit will be entirely CG for the whole film, it's all post production, on the set Ryan Reynolds is just wearing a grey bodysuit with light markers on it. I don't want to sound like a fag but I think it's a shame they did that with GL's suit because Ryan Reynolds definitely has the physique to wear skintight lycra. I hope it looks better in the movie than on that pic.

Is the design essentially a bodysuit with glowing "veins" running through it? If so, why the need for CGI? CGI is still not quite perfect, so there's a high probability that it'll still have that overly-anthropomorphic CGI look to it, and it's needlessly time consuming.

What are your thoughts on the new Green Hornet movie?

I'm pretty sure they'll have GL's costume change and do all sorts of weird shit, not just have green veins on it.

I think Green Hornet's a pretty boring character and I don't really like Seth Rogen (apart from in observe & report) so I'm not too pumped for it, I was moreso when Nic Cage was attached as the villain because he's my favourite. I'll still go to see it because now there's a standard set by films like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Batman Begins I'm sure at least it'll try to be interesting or action packed or funny.

Also I see all these movies at the cinema because I'm obsessed with them.

Do you know something about Green Hornet I don't? is there some secret reason it will be awesome?

  16. This is like my 4th topic about Superhero movies, sorry I'm obsessed but thought you might want to see these.

that picture of Thor pisses me off, I know Hopkins is a big star but having him massive with Thor looking scared in the background with his hammer drooping down is no way to reveal a character as intense as thor, also Thor doesn't have bare arms, WTF? is that dude even muscular enough to play Thor? Also all the armour looks cheap and I hope Thor and Loki wear helmets in the film like they do in the comic.

Why does Thor look scared? He should be gritting his teeth and swinging his hammer!

  17. Yesterday I met Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. All 3 in a hurry so didn't manage to get a pic with any of them, Rihanna was the nicest.

Met and got a picture with Nick Jonas today, really nice guy, took a picture with every fan, at least 30 people.

 explain please (and your explanation had better involve being a 9 year old girl)

  18. Does anyone know why XWT (Xtreme wresting torrents) don't seem to have the main events on their torrents for TNA PPVs? I get all my PPVs from them and at least the last 4 TNA ones have stopped at the 2hr mark, anyone know why this is? it's as annoying as fuck.

  19. I just read this whole thread in one go.

Keelan I agree with a lot of what you said and disagree with some but I think you've done a great job of trying to get your points across while basically having every word being torn apart by like a dozen people, you never lost your cool and despite a few too many double posts and a couple of minor mistakes everyone jumped on instantly, you never rose to the people mocking you and I think that's commendable, everyone was obviously hoping for another UKFF meltdown and you didn't give it to them, you just continued to put forth (mostly intelligent, well worded and thought out) arguments for your side of the debate.
