  1. CrankI'm a sucker for a good old fashioned action flick and my god did this film ever deliver! Crank is essentially eighty minutes of fighting, swearing, shooting, running and hilarity. There's no bullshit romantic sub-plot here, no lesson to be learned and this definately isn't the sort of film your girlfriend would want to watch. Jason Statham is pissed, he's pissed because he's been poisoned with a lethal toxin called 'The Beijing Cocktail' which is slowly killing him, he quickly learns that the only way he can stay alive long enough to get revenge is to keep the flow of adrenaline in his body constant. With that in mind Statham takes us on a trip across LA where he hacks off the body parts of badguys, drives through a shopping centre, harasses hospital staff and patients, saves his dimwit girlfriend and beats up innocent bystanders all in the pursuit of vengeance. There's nothing Statham won't do to achieve his goal but this isn't just a run of the mill action film, there's lots of hilarious comedic moments and some interesting visual effects that I've never seen in this sort of film before. If you've got a load of friends over and you're looking for an entertaining, can't-fail action film with a splash of comedy you should definately check this one out.

Man.. I was so gutted when I saw the trailer for this. The plot looks like great fun, but Jason Statham is a completely intolerable cunt, so I don't think I'll be able to watch this...
  2. Well, tis the Season to go out and see films...

I went to see Perfume on Boxing Day, and I was really quite disappointed.

It's a great story, and they could have done so much with it.. but they fell short for sure.

I can appreciate that a story entirely about smell would be very hard to get across visually, and they did a good job of that in a lot of scenes...

But to accomplish that, and then fumble on the actual telling of the story seems silly... First off they didn't seem to have much idea what kinda style they wanted it to be.. The opening scene is so fucking gruesome, but then other bits that had the potential to be pretty dark and fucked up they just threw away offhand, in an almost comedy fashion.

Also, they didn't seem to do much in the way of translating it into a screenplay from the book - the telling of the story is a very straight forward narrative style. They turned what is actually a really good story that happens to be set in the past into like a fable-y mythic kind fairy tale period costume nonsense. (I guess it didn't help that I quite disliked the voice of the narrator)

It would have really helped on this point and in other ways if they'd made the film in French, too.. It just seems a bit silly everyone wandering around with dumb old timey English accents in the middle of Paris; it's hard to get a feel for the situation.

    Anyone else seen this yet?

    Thoughts?

One thing I'll say for the film though, is that it has made me really want to read the book, because I'm sure I'll enjoy it a lot more.

  3. CM Punk (to WWE/ECW)

Mate, the original post says Punk's ineligible because he previously worked for ROH and TNA.
I take it this is to stop another farce like Joe winning this award last year?I nominate Kenny. And Khali. And Bullet Bob Armstrong.
  4. The Elimination Chamber (New Years Revolution) - having Cena, Masters and Carlito as the final three was ridiculous, but the first 10-15 minutes were quality.

Seems like a distant memory now, but cheers for reminding me.. This match was a lot of fun (all the way through, for me), and totally exceeded my expectations..
  5. Konnan calling Eric Young a 'walking glory hole'.Konnan telling Chris Daniels to get on a plane to Vegas and join the Blue Man Group. The hilarious stills of the skinny guy in the bad wig playing Andre the Giant in the documentary about his life.

  6. Very funny ladies, I thought we were trying to steer this back to being a normal thread again rather than using it for personal attacks and scoffing? All I did was post an opinion.UKFF hilarity club 1 Me 0.

Yeah... my bad - apparently I was wrong when I said I was sure the discussion was capable of getting serious again when new information came to light... nevermind. Just ride the wave....
