  1. Same for me. I don't buy or read newspapers anyway but will always try to avoid giving clicks to those publications, and if I'm looking for a source to share on a topic will go out of my way to avoid sharing links to them.

I didn't even think of it until you mentioned it because I've been doing it out of habit for so long..

Just started watching Uncharted. Will see it through but fuck me... Wahlberg is just intolerable. And also I can't listen to him speaking without hearing Andy Samberg's impression from SNL.

Halfway through this I realised I had seen it before. That should tell you about as much as you need to know about how memorable it is.

I really wanted to like it a lot more than I actually did.

I went to see Wonka on Monday. It was a lot of fun. There are some decent songs, that will no doubt get stuck in my head as my daughter plays them on repeat around the house, but the musical numbers didn't wow me.

The film overall was good though, with some really great performances (Hugh Grant sterling the show of course). I thought Timothee Chalamet's version of Wonka suited the film if you don't worry too much about comparing it to previous versions or what you think the character should be. He's young and more earnest and trusting, and has not yet become an eccentric recluse.

Paul King loves a jailbreak and heist it seems, doesn't it?

Might end up being one for the shit things topic BUT I haven't watched anything Walking Dead related in ages and I think very highly of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira so I'll probably give this a go at least.

More like one for the Jesus fucking Christ thread.. I can't believe they're still making Walking Dead shows.

  4. Did you ever make it down here to Beanos in Croydon? That place was amazing.

For London shops I also really rate Flashback in Islington. There used to be a great place on the high street in Camden sandwiched between bong shops but I've forgotten what it was called.

Soul Brother near Putney has a great collection but you can't browse so it's a pain in the arse.

There's a bunch of other ones that were or are still really good, I could go on but I'll leave it there for now...

I think HMV surviving on the High Street and selling tons of vinyl is a good thing.  It also helps stabilise the market for independent record shops.

But yeah, super expensive.  I recommend Juno.co.uk as an online store - I buy most of my records from there.  Other people use Discogs a lot, can be a crapshoot though.

I need to get some new needles though - I used to buy Shure SM44s but they've stopped making needles altogether.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

I buy the tonar n447s for my shure m447 carts and I've been pretty happy with them.

I like the film but the older I get (and maybe being a parent helps) I side less and less with Ferris and more with the parents and teacher. And I'm someone who barely went to school in the last two years, and loved a bit of truancy (not cool, stay in school)

Also, he's a dweeb and makes very bad use of his day off IMO.

    DAY BOW BOW.

Ferris is definitely a lot less sympathetic as you get older, but Rooney is an unhinged maniac by the end of the film. True, his breakdown is seemingly caused by Ferris, but he has to be a deeply unhappy and small man to react so disproportionately.

  7. I haven't seen it for a long time but Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a film I've seen a million times and always loved.

Also Coming to America deserves a mention too. Not sure if it's a coincidence that both of these used to be on Paramount every other week and I'd watch them pretty much every time they were on...

  8. Freelance (Prime) - John Cena and Alison Brie action flick. The cast alone is probably enough to sell some of you.

It's worth a watch. Decent enough story, with some good, if not particularly memorable, action sequences, elevated by the cast. John Cena is still a goofy doof so he is better at action comedy than straight action. This film though whilst being fun, doesn't really land its outright jokes very well; the tone kinda feels off.

There are bits of the film that don't make any sense but they're not major points that will stop you enjoying it.

Second series coming on 3rd January!

They’ll probably Big Brother it and fuck it up with dickheads, but we can hope for the best and pray for genuine people to accompany Claudia’s wonderful fringe.

No reality bollocks in this thread please, you two! @Fatty Facesitter

  10. Bumping this old thread to say that I put on Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury for the first time in a long time and it is flawless.

    You're welcome, merry Christmas.
