  1. It's taken about 17 episodes but I finally started to get into Arrow. The soapy badly written soap opera stuff seems to slowly minimise at a certain point and it starts to find it's feet. It still irritates me how they started it out like the producers mandate was to close their eyes, put their fingers in their ears and repeat 'it's not a comic book superhero show'.

About half way through season 1 they seemed to realise their target audience wasn't tween girls and that they needed an actual direction to go in instead of constantly talking about feelings and rubbish.

I wish they would put a little more colour into the costumes and use the characters names more.

The first half of s1 was a pretty hard slog. I basically only stuck with it to see how they do The Flash and I'm a sucker for any mention of the DCU. Also I have fallen for Felicity Smoak.

I might give some Green Arrow a read. Any recommendations on key TPBs?

I've never read a Green Arrow book in my life, but Arrow is my favourite TV Show right now.  You need to put some graft in and catch up if you're still on Season 1

  2. 1991 was pretty edgy stuff. Snake biting, Sherri more or less sucking the Warrior off, people getting put in coffins, war exploitation and the Mountie getting bummed in prison. There was a definite sense they were going in a more edgier direction. I wonder if they'd have got a bit more over the top if there wasn't a thousand scandals hitting them around the same time.

What!?  I was 4 in 91, so I've definitely forgotten about this, but this needs some explanation

  3.

    Sleazy Cena anecdotes?

    Oh, you noticed that.

I'm wary of libel here but nonetheless in his position Stephen (not Midnight Zeus) entertained retail clients and took them to booze with wrestlers at their hotels. So he knocked about with them a bit.

In mid 2000s a wrestler, let's call him Jim Seener, was walking past Steve's table at the bar where he was chatting with a well known Diva. John stops, flatters her with a smirk, drops his room card on the table and says "see you in five". Diva giggles, scoops up the card and gallops off after Jim to perform the Five Knuckle Shuffle.

Is there a reason why Jim Seener becomes "John" part way through this story?  You're not trying to say what I think you're trying to say are you....?

  4. Really? I thought the video seemed thrown together.

The inconsistent use of A/An on "A/An ROH Legend" probably bothered me too much but the opening shot being from Joes back doing a fallaway slam of all things, seemed odd. Feel like they had much better footage to source.

That aside, this is really great news. Loads for him to do there. Would love to see him have a run with the belt depending on how ROH fits into other commitments he gets.

I spotted that also, but then thought about it, and it didn't really say ROH, it just showed the logo, which is the Ring of Honor logo, so should you really be readign it as "A Ring of Honor Legend", which would be correct...or did I just really overthink a reason to let them off with a mistake that also bothered me too much...?

Been on before but the original URL seems to have died off which is often the case with these.

Can only compare it to being on a trampoline when someone else has "stolen" the bounce just before you land.

Bossman really was a big lad back then.

I've never seen that before and it has really ickled me.  That is brilliant

  6. Nah, I think Leati Joseph Anoa'i will beat Brock Lesnar, then Colby Lopez will cash in his briefcase on Raw, whilst Paul Levesque, Paul Wight & Glenn Jacobs celebrate from the ramp...

Paul Levesque won't.  He'll be too banged up from his match with Steve Borden

  7. I've not finished reading all the posts since this morning, but I have just read about turning Reigns heel and turning Ambrose heel.  Are we discussing putting The Shield back together here then, all as heels?  I wouldn't mind seeing that actually.  Put them in multi man matchups.  Maybe have Ambrose win the US title, and Rollins and Reigns win the Tag Titles.  That could be good.  Right?

  8. To be fair, my post about people paying Sky for it rather than using the network, was just my poor atempt at being part of the broadcast team where they pretty much insult you for being more money for it.

Plus, wih regards to the answer about having sky and netflix and not wanting to add anoher £10 each month and rather paying £20 for the odd event.  It's £9.99 a month with no comitment.  YOu pay the £9.99 for Mania or the Rumble, and then cancel it, pay half the price, but get a full month worth of content.  So that argument is null and void.  Not having access to hook a laptop up to a TV, or owning a console to watch it through, I totally understand that argument

  9. Just watched the Reigns / Brock confrontation from Raw and enjoyed that.  Anyone reckon if Raw would have gone ahead as planned we would have had a Roman / Big Show confrontation instead?  Maybe this worked out well for them.

On the subject of people wanting a refund because Raw showed the same thing.  Not a chance.  If you paid for the Royal Rumble, you got what you paid for.  The Ascension vs The New Age Outlaws and The Bella's vs Paige / Natalya.  Money well spent.

  10. I'm a bit late to the party, but just read c-rocks plans for Wrestlemania and the changing of ownership.

Brilliant idea.  Not only should Vince agree to this, Sting should do the RUSSO SWERVE (as it was previously referred) and help HHH take legitamate ownership of Vince's company, but not only that, throw in a Montreal Screwjob finish as well, making sure The Rock / Stone Cold think they're actually going to win and save the day for good ol' Vince, when in actual fact the Face Sting is going to help the Heel HHH win, turning HHH Face at the same time because Sting thinks his plans are the bee's knee's.  With all that, Big Show can Turn Face and then Heel again, throwing in another turn.  Not sure where this would leave Vince though?  He's now been legitamately screwed out of his company in a planned out match, but Sting/HHH (who are now both Faces and we're all going to cheer for the next night on Raw don't forget) actually screwed him over for being daft enough to actually sign over the rights to his Multi-Million (Billion?) dollar company in a wrestling match.

Brilliant.  I can't wait.  Well worth $9.99 a month for that.
