  1. Could've just shared the link to it and mentioned what a great thread it is rather than asking yet another pointed and inquisitive question to someone you clearly have some issue with. Have a look through your posts in this thread and take a look in the mirror will you.

That’s fair enough, and that’s the way you mod. But other mods have taken a zero tolerance approach though and maybe that’s what I’m getting at. I think you’re bang on about the tolerance for shortness though. I’ve been of the thinking that arseholes come back with a “100% warning level” so it’s next strike and you’re out.

Don't know who you are referring to with "other mods", but this has always been my approach. Having "zero tolerance" when some poster is being an idiot and you find they signed up with an email address containing their banned username makes it an easy choice to just ban them immediately.

Anyway, apart from Emily being coy about introducing herself back into the forum (not that I blame her given how people treat trans folk), I don't care about someone who got banned like 15 years ago.

I hope the networks are thinking long term rather than initial ratings.

Much like the submissions & grappling in MMA, it'll take a while for the audience to learn the nuance & technique behind slapfighting. Also, once people get to 'know' the athletes there'll be the emotional connection with the audience too.

The epic final of The Ultimate Slapper will rescue it.

  4. Not really a conspiracy theory, but the same illogical blind faith mindset...audiophiles. I fucking love this lot, paying exorbitant amounts of money on stuff that absolutely does nothing but they will swear their experience is enhanced with nonsense statements like "more space allowing the mid tones to be crisper". Show them an oscilloscope of some music with and without their magical sound crystals being exactly the same and they will say its wrong because their ears are better.

Absolute loons who love listening to their gear with music.

My favourite one I think is still when Midas put a quote from Mr Seven in his that said “Midas is King and he holds me so tight” and Mr Seven eventually ended up begging him to take it off and he wouldn’t.

That’s how I remember it anyway, I might have some details slightly off.

Hahahaha, fucking glorious. I forgot all about that. A rare and great win for Mr Midas over a complete and utter cunt.

I've heard lots about how complex it is - that your phone recognises if it's often in close proximity to another phone, so starts tailoring responses based on that; so if your partner is regularly searching for things, that will start influencing the algorithm on your phone, that sort of thing. I don't know how true that is. In reality, most of us use one or two devices and only a handful of accounts to access everything - logging in with Google or Meta, or Apple, or whatever, so of course our data is in common across all of those places.

I (sadly) work in the "ad-tech" industry and while I don't think that google/facebook/amazon are passively listening and informing their search results, they do use a lot of other things. The way that ad's are targeted to you comes from many sources, but a fairly common way that people get targeted is via IP address. The algorithms are just trying to make an "informed" decision about who you are and what you may be interested in, so its possible that someone else sitting on your home wifi searches for something which then ties back to showing you specific ads.

One other thing that people aren't aware of is that FB/IG/Amazon/etc all track how long you "linger" at something even if you don't interact with it and use that to inform their ad and feed algorithms.

There used to be a fun website from one ad tech company that would let you look up what some data sources thought you were - could be scarily accurate or hilariously wrong.

  7. Oh no, the horror of seeing Pro Home Cooks in here! Personally can't stand that channel, although it's better than the previous incarnation "Brothers Green Eats", but maybe the dude is a pro with air fryers. That being said I seem to get annoyed with a lot of the bro chef channels like that, Ethan Chlebowski, Adam Rageusa etc - generally not impressed with what I see them make.

But while I'm here everyone should get aboard the https://www.youtube.com/@LatifsInspired train

The Staircase Owl Theory. That geezer murdered his wife but a theory is she was attacked by an owl and it’s sort of believable.

I really do believe this one.

I also like the "Paul is dead" theory myself.

  9. In terms of an actually crush and not just a confusing "me willie has gone stiff" moment (that would be Sam Fox/Sabrina Salerno) then probably Sarah Jessica Parker in 'Flight of the Navigator' - absolutely adorable. Other mentions would be Rachel Blanchard in CITV's 'Chris Cross' and Donna Air as Charlie in Byker Grove.

That’s it, Jakey, rape the feminism out of her.

There's a nice looking BJJ/MMA gym near me that I was considering going to until I saw them hosting this prized prick for a seminar. Needless to say once you go diving into the tagged photos you start to see a huge amount of "Back the Blue", "Stop The Steal", "Lets Go Brandon" posts...its almost impossible to find a gym these days without this shit.

Still can’t get into that fancy place with their nonsensical queues, but had this cracker in Crosby yesterday.

Poured the beans from the ramekin and moved it out of sight so I didn’t give Butch a festive aneurysm.

This is very nice. I'm not against a multigrain toast with a fry-up personally. That sausage looks incredible. Only negative on here is the poncy tomatoes.

Oh a job in finance should be easy if you really want one

Yeah you just get your Dad to get you in the door and find some cuck to do all your work for you under threat of them being fired before riding a series of promotions to the top. Easy.

failing to stab it to death with a Jumbo HSS drill bit for 15 mins, probably dampened my spirits and dented my pride

The Lokey Pokey, whether done on yourself or a toilet, with hand or tool, is going to have that effect.

  14. As a lanky fuck I take comically large shits and have experienced the clogged toilet more often than not. I reckon you could've taken care of this yourself @Kaz Hayashi - although the required actions may haunt you. In this scenario you're basically James Herriot and the toilet is a cow, put the marigolds on and get your arm up there as far as possible and get to work. Once the "calf" is freed both you and the toilet will sigh in relief and then you just have to deal with days of excessive hand washing to come.

I'll take the self-shame of this over some random bloke unclogging my monstrosity any day.

  15. I'm starting to dip my toe back into the job market. I've hated my job for the best part of a year now but I've stayed due to a retention bonus payout coming up, absolutely gritting my teeth to get there and have now got to the point of counting down the days to motivate myself.

I'm grateful to have that AND a job during these times but also starting to shit myself that with the economy changing jobs will be hard or a bad idea...but I have to change something as I'm miserable where I am at right now. Shitting it a bit that I'll be trapped there in 2023.
