  1. Just listening to Johnny Saint on Colt Cabana's podcast - which UK show did they wrestle on, was it any good and can someone point me in the direction of where to get the match if it was filmed?

It as filmed at a premier promotions show in 2004- october november time in potters bar at the Wyllots centre. I was in attendance and funnily enough complimented John Freemantle again recently on that show.

The filming was done for UK round up on the wrestling channel.

The rest of the card was Robbie Brookside Vs Dave Taylor, Paul Birchall Vs Kendo Ka Shin and Andy Simmons Vs Phil Powers.

One of my favorite shows of all time. I would imagine if you had the time to track it down there is a DVD somewhere

It was a very good show, but you're misremembering an important part - Cabana wrestled Johnnt Kidd on that show, not Johnny Saint. The Saint/Cabana match happened on a 1PW show, but I'm not sure of which one.

Not misremembering, just getting names wrong. Thanks for pointing it out though and apologies if anoyone has been searching for that show wrongly because of me. still a great show worth mentioning

  3. Thanks for your reply above, just one more mid 90s related WWF question. For a time when attendance was down etc was there any special reason other thank it being shawn michaels home town that they went to the alamo dome? I know they had 60000 there but how did the fill it..comps or just the draw of the hometown boy?

  4. I was shocked with the review of NOAH European Navigation Night 1 this month. Saying Suzuki Vs Marvin didnt get going shocked me as I thought it was a fantastic match. It felt like they just wanted to criticise something for the sake of it.Also is it me or are they practically putting two identical articles into each edition. One about the WWE PPV in general adn then another 4-5 pages analyseing the main event and the storylines around it. Such a waster of an extra 4 pages to repeat themselves

  5. "Not community service. I cant stand helping others" - Homer

Patty -"Homer I need your help"

Homer - "Want me to use the belt sander to grind the ugly off your face?"

During the episode where Flanders gets accused of killing his wife to find out he only killed her plant

Homer "well there is still the question of the whereabouts of your wife"

    Maud "Im right here homer"

Homer (Very sarcasticly) "Well I guess everything is wrapped up in a nice neat little package"

    ______________________________________________________________________

Homer "Ahh if Marge isnt happy then I'm not happy, and if Im not happy then Moe is very happy, but for once this isnt about Moe"

  6. I dont know if anything was set but Scott Hall would have been my first guess. However there were plenty of top level guys and uppercarders who were not in anything massive at that mania

    Kane

    Angle

    Booker T

    Edge

All coult have had a match Vs The Rock

  7. Just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brother Hood Part 5 which was the final set and have to say it was fantastic. Cant compare it to the original but as a short 64 ep show it was amazing

  8. Jsut getting into a bit of anime through friends myself actually

Full Metal Alchemist - Brotherhood is very good and quite engrossing

Also watched a bit of Black Lagoon which is quite cool and very "real" in terms of the universe

  9. I expect it was one of the usual tribute show promoters that have been around for years. Although there is a small chance I would imagine, and I mean a very small chance between 92-94 it could have been bulldog himself as he toured the UK as a independant between WWF and WCW runs. The Legion of Doom I think there was one wrestler doing a similar gimmick who was well known at the time as well.

  10. Anyone know of any good wrestling or MMA gyms/classes in Bournemouth? Been thinking about trying it out for a while as a hobby.

There are a fair few about, Bulldog Gym at the top of Old Christhurch Road near the college is probably one of the best known. There is a place on Ashley Road in Parkstone I think as well above the pub.

  11. Not sure on timeline for Smoking Skull, but a brief history from my memory as at work at the moment

Austin Brought it in during 1999 I think not long after he won the belt back from Kane as he felt the WWF Title wasnt going to cut it.

Austin then took on Taker and Kane for the belt at Breakdown and had the double pin, where Vince took the belt of him and "Put it on his mantle piece"

After Austin won the belt at WM15 Mcmahon brought it back to taunt austin and the rock carried it around/ pretended to throw it in the river etc. The Rock carried it to the ring at Backlash 1999 and with Austin winning he took back his belt (it wasnt on the line as such just there for the taking). Austin then used this till Summerslam 99 when he lost the belt to mankind and then following this it was never seen again. Also they kept it to austin belt so when take was champ for a month in 1999 he used the normal belt.

Sadly Cenas belt stays and taunts us

  12. Anyone know what the original plans for Shawn Michaels were for Wrestlemania 23? I'm watching Jericho's dvd and he says Michaels was in the main event because Triple H was injured so just wondering what match he would've been in

Outright guessing but the only thing for him around that time I could clearly see would have been a feud with Edge or Orton extending from the tag feud. Perhaps someone like Kennedy or another up and comer would have stepped up but they never even hinted at it so not really sure

  13. From memory any "WCW" matches with branding etc was before Invasion and also before the ECW guys came in, I think over 2 - 3 weeks following KOTR. This was due to Linda Mcmahon forcing Vince to allow Shane to promote his brand on TV, and after they had decided not to give them there own show as such.

When they had a match mostly on Smackdown or Heat (didnt watch Raw so not sure) they had the aforementioned WCW logo projected on the ramp, side screens and the apron (which I had forgotten)

The Announces were Arn Anderson and Scott Hudson (who didnt last long). Once the ECW guys joined in they dropped this immediately and went to just having Alliance vs WWF matches till after unforgiven when they started to promote WWF vs WWF feuds again and few alliance guys turned face and slyly joined the WWF sides with no reasoning, till it all faded away after survivor series

  14. He was an announcer between 89/90 and early 91 I believe and was announcing on some prominant PPV's including Royal Rumble 1990 and possibly the summerslam as well but im not 100%.

I know part of why he went back to WCW was him not liking JR and competing for the lead announcers spot and of course JR would have been considering going to WWE about the time Schiavone left.
