  1. I always feel the problem could have been solved by waiting with the invastion angle and starting it a bit later on. What is sad is that although there was no Nash, Hall, Hogan, Goldberg, Flair,Steiner within18 months of the invasion finishing all these guys turned up. with Goldberg being the one that makes it more than a year.

  2. What a mark for himself raven is. What a dream job to watch tapes and produce wrestling, I know the pressure would have been huge but he could have done indy dates ala Lawler/ Dreamer when he was back office / Al Snow to keep his wrestling alive and basically had his cake and eaten it.

Seems to be the case of most of the old ECW talent that they were just so into themselves and ECW that they could never work out anywhere else

  3. This might have been answered already, but anyway: Elimination Chamber is still called No Way Out in Germany, so what are they going to call it next year? Or is No Way Out going to have a different name? Or are they just going to have two No Way Outs every year and end up with a situation more confusing than No Mercy 1999?

I would expect 2 No Way Outs, not much point coming up with new names just for one country

  4. That set up looks fantastic love the tiered seating adds a big time in small venue type feel. The stage is fantastic to. This looks a lot like what I hoped WWECW would become.Think 2 tapings a night would be better, a student audience should be fairly upbeat anyway so to kill them with 20 matches isnt great. Perhaps having some WWE stars earlier in the show would have been better, mix it up a bit.

  5. Watching impact this week has TNA got rid off the Knockouts Tag title. Noticed that Young and ODB were not present last week in the ring during the hogan promo and didnt have them in the opening promo this week. Plus they were not holding them when hogan spoke to them later on.

  6. Does anybody remember an LAW - Live Action Wrestling - on the Wrestling Channel around 2003 and is it still running today? It was the only thing I really enjoyed on there - it had a good mix of visiting stars (I'm sure Jeff Hardy made a few appearances), good workers and fun gimmicks. It may have been based in Memphis as Jerry Lawler did commentary.

EDIT: Actually, 2003 was probably a little early. Maybe 2005?

I remember them and remeber they has Bagwell Steiner Luger on a regular basis. Always looked like a little promotion with a big feel. Even at the time of broadcast info on them was limited. They dont even appear on Cage Match.de which is usually quite a comprehensive list of promotions

  7. October 20th 1996 Undertaker Beat Mankind in a Buried Alive match (only to then be beat down and buried by a bunch of heels himself)

December 13th 1998 Austin Beat Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match

September 7th 1999 - Undertaker and Big Show beat Mankind and the Rock in a Buried Alive Match

November 16th 2003 - Vince Mcmahon beat the Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match

October 24th 2010 - Kane beat the undertaker in a buried alive match

    3/5 losses

  8. I can't fucking wait to hear Fin Martin's reaction to Shaemus vs. Bryan at WM. It's going to be hilarious. Did he tweet anything about it?

I just checked, and his post-WrestleMania tweet was "As expected, a new Cena T-shirt design was unveiled last night."

He should acknowledge it as smart business...

70,000 people to flog a new t shirt to in the same building, even Fin Martin must be able to see how thats good business

  9. Thats pretty much it, although to add Eric had partnered up with a Consortium who pulled out when there was no longer TV on AOL Time Warner stations. Eric then tried to secure a preliminary deal on another channel. I believe Fox, but that fell through or didnt happen in time when Vince picked things up for dirt dirt cheap. I think the total cost to him was under 2 million.

Hogan even said in his original biography and although he can be full of it (I cant see a reason to lie, plenty of people must think the same way) That if he had known the video library would come with it and on the success of the DVD market (it was only just beginning when this was written as well way before the triple disc DVDs came out) that he would have bought it just for that.

And lets face it who wouldn't WWE are only just capitalising on there vid library now with on-line streaming

  10. Sometime in in 1997-1998 I believe just into his crow gimmick.

The first non Kayfabe DVD from WWF/E must have been around the 1996-1998 time I would guess. Would Fab 4 count although I know taker was in charecter. The only other one I can think of would have been faces of foley?

  11. From what I gather as well, according to RD Reynolds books. even in 2002 if the WWF had offered to pay the wildlife fund a decent donation yearly they would have let the whole thing go. But the WWF was too stubborn to just roll over and do so. No idea on the legitimacy of that story although it is worth noting the World Wildlife Fund wasnt even there main brand name at the time it was something more on the lines of the world wide fund for nature i think.

Quick question in relation to the above on WM 17 and editing out limpbizkit for royalty purposes. Do all WWE wrestler past get payments when a DVD sells with them on it, or is it only those that have agreed terms etc. And do undercard guys today sign anything like royalty waivers etc for the video market. I know they still get them for merch and figures etc

  12. I was thinking about that Road Dogg win, and I couldn't think of any others for Mania. But I did then remember HBK & Diesel doing over the Headshrinkers the night before Summerslam 94, which made a right cunt of the card when the opener had absolutely shit all on the line and the champs otherwise engaged in the IC match. That took me to Edge/Jarrett from whenever that was in 99, but obviously that was just for a little hotshot deal and had no lingering effect. Can anybody think of any more of these, especially ones that really buggered stuff up, like the Summerslam one?

In 2005 they had a scheduled MNM Vs Mexicools tag team title match for Armageddon. At the last minute Rey and Batista took the tag titles to add more pep to there match against Kane and Big Show (The World Tag team champs). They still had the MNM Mexicool match but it had fuck all meaning.

Interestingly if you read Edge's biography it explains that the Toronto deal was a bit of a mistake it was at a house show in the sky dome. there was either a mis count or it was meant to be a dusty finish which didnt get pulled off properly and left edge with the IC title. hence why he dropped it straight back to jarret at the PPV which was a day or two later.

  13. Is there still a wrestling scene in Germany? I mean like a proper one where guys get paid and spend months out there wrestling, I know JBL and Y2J among others spent time there and made enough to live on, is it still like that?

Enough to live on I think was a bit of a stretch. In fact most of the guys doing germany would have been roughing it pretty badly during the 90's. And yes there is still a scene in Germany but I think it is about the same level as the UK Scene

  14. What would be the best non-alcoholic beverage to drink while watching Starrcade '99?

    Anythimg with a rohypnol mixer

Not sure thats needed, the show will get the job done on it's own. Although If your heading into 2000 WCW I wouldnt watch with any kind of hallucinogenics

  15. Recently bought the History of ECW that was on WWE 24/7 (the version that chronicles early days Easter Championship Wrestling up to the NWA Title Tournament and perhaps further)

Would like an episode guide of some sorts, anyone know where I can get it?

  16. For someone who wasnt aware till pretty much just after this show of the British Wrestling Scene, I struggle with the concept of Wrestling on Radio and probably would of at the time. For people who listened what kind of experience was it to just have audio?

  17. I have never heard anything solid against AJ, however over the years have seena few comments from individuals which makes me think he isnt always on top form in terms of his attitude. Mostly this is outside of the ring when people have said he comes across a bit arrogant and unfriendly. However he was fine when I have spoken to him and you never know how people have been when approaching him.

  18. Savage was into his fourties by the time he was on his second WWF title run, they started the new generation promotion in 93 and wanted younger exciting wrestlers in his place. hence why vince relegated him to commentator and occasional wrestler

  19. Didn't RF personally shoot every ECW show. So i guess they have some ownership.

They did film a lot on "Fan Cam" which was Feinstein I believe with one camera filming house shows and matches pre TV tapings etc. Depending upon contracts etc with ECW at the time they probably own the footage and paid ECW a commission on all salesAnother Questions - If I was to go to Japan for say the Jan 4 Tokyo Dome show and a few days either side (not planning this year maybe next). How would I go about pre booking show tickets etc or is it easier to buy when over there
  20. Your best bet is to look up on places like wikipedia for a more detailed answer to this, im sure someone with more time will fill in the gaps as well.

But basically, Ric Flair got into a bust up with Jim Herd and left WCW/NWA in 91. At the time the champion had to put down a 25K deposit against the belt when they won it. Ric Flair had actually never reclaimed his as he was holding onto the belt most of the time so just left it there when he didnt have the title.

As he was NWA champion when he joined the WWF in 91 he asked for his 25K back to no avail and decided instead rumour has it to fedex the belt to Vince, who started the story with bobby heenan proclaming the Real Worlds Champion was coming.

When flair did arrive he had the Big Gold Belt around his waist during entrances etc, without any permision of course from WCW/NWA. Eventually they won a legal battle and the belt was returned. however the WWF then made there own almost identical version of the belt which was then banned and then used a blurred tag title on TV. The whole angle was dropped pre flair winning the rumble in 1992

On the WCW side, they had to use an ancient North American title belt temporarily during the Luger Vs Windham title match, then created the recently more famous due to SVR games - WCW title belt this raigned as the main belt till 1994. Even when returned the big gold belt was only briefly used for the sometimes seperated/ sometimes not NWA title for a very short time as WCW left the NWA in 92/93 i believe. It was then called the Big Gold Belt and then the WCW International title until it was merged back with the WCW Title in early 94 for the arrival of Hogan and the Big Gold Belt was kept and the title belt.

  21. It would depend on his contract and the temporary extension he agreed on. I know in 05 when Christian did not renew he walked into TNA straight away within days. However from there they could have changed the clause to have the no compete regardless of expiry release etc. As originally it was only release. I would say most likely no and he wont till the new year sometime
