  1. One of the main things for me with Neil is that his posts before he closes a thread seem like his trying really hard to be funny and they're not in my view.

Thats just my view mind and I may be alone on that.

On the other hand, if he didn't post a line when closing a thread it would lead to "Why was such a thread closed" posts and/or topics.

Also neil's line in the hororscopes thread was a beauty.

JLM, while you're here, I was thinking of getting some cheap XBOX points and also I don't want to pay full price for a console. Any advice? (go on, you know you want to)

  2. It just gives certain employers carte blance to fire people so they don't get workers rights. I'm not saying it will be across the board but this allows employers with no morals to have a revolving door policy every 23 months to ensure there is no solidarity between their staff. It promotes fear in the workplace. One year was taking the piss but two just rubs your nose in it.

  3. Trust the Daily Mail to remind us the true meaning of incitement to racial violence.

As opposed to the extremist Muslim group that put the poster out?

    Taken from the article.

Mr Rumaysah, who said his campaign was not linked to any group

Although he does refer to it as "Our message, our campaign" etc

EDIT - This is my favourite bit.

Sister Christine Frost, founder of the East London Neighbours in Poplar charity, said: 'The more posters I saw, the more angry I got.

'Someone is stirring hatred which leaves the road open to revenge attacks or petrol bombs through letter-boxes.

'I told the Mayor we are all scared.

'If we said such things about Muslims, we'd all be hanging from lamp-posts.

Yes, yes they are stirring hatred.

  4. Yeah I agree with the sentiment but, like Ted BO Hankey, you can't play the part of a pantomime villain and then moan when you get booed. Darts IS becoming like a night out/piss up but if you promote is as entertainment then people will treat you as an entertainer.

  5. On the subject of Smokers' tax pounds Vs cost of NHS treatment, isn't it a case of the revenue brought in by smoking is put in the same pot as, say, VAT on pringles and condoms? (now there was a night!) and is then divvied up accordingly? I remember Loki mentioning this last time and said something like in real terms, 5% of the tax money goes on the NHS? In other words, the money brought in by tobacco, 95% of it isn't spent on healthcare so any comparisons on tax Vs healthcare cost aren't really accurate

I've probably got that a bit wrong so hopefully Loki (or someone else) can clarify or rubbish this.
