  1. I watched Men in Black 3 last night, and liked it a fair bit.

For what its worth, its in the same sort of tone as the first two, (but better than MIB2) so if you didn't like either of those it may be worth skipping. The story line is fairly straight forward, or as it can be relating to aliens and time travel, but its the ending that makes this film solid gold. Didn't twig what was going on until it had already happened, and must say it was great. A good watch, and something I can watch again on a Sunday afternoon.

Over Christmas I also managed to check out The Amazing Spider-man.

As a fan of Spider-man, I was hoping this would be better than Spider-man 3 at least, which to be fair it was. Other than that, it was just "disappointing". The film itself came across as a teen movie, like aimed solely on 13 year old's, which it may be the point, (aiming for younger audiences), but they shouldn't forget about the older fans also. In itself it's a fresh reboot of the series , so expect the origin story to be told again, but in a credit to the film, it doesn't take forever for him to become the spider-man, like it did in the previous Sam Raimi effort.

Regardless of this, I will say it is good at directly being a teen flick, so I'm sure somebody will really get into it. If anything I still want to watch the upcoming sequel, in the hope that it'd be much better. Better than Spider-man 3, but I personally still believe the first 2 were much better.

  2. Personally I'd love him back in ROH full time, but the depends if he can do that really, as I'm not sure what is physically possible for him at the moment.

With Lethal, I'm not sure. Some of this stuff seems "heel-ish" on paper, but I would of thought it'll lead to a killer match with Nigel, with a stipulation of that if he wins, he'll get his title match. Then we'll have some crazy match which lethal will win, as well as earning Nigel's respect or something, and thus leading to some sort of crazy fight without honor against Steen for the title.

  3. I don't think this is the general consensus view, but I've always thought Haas was the better wrestler, and as such, would be the better fit in ROH because of it.

Would it be right in saying that they are building Jay Lethal up for a run at the title? Adding into that, I got the sense they may be a Lethal/McGuinness match down the line as well?

  4. Was there not talk a couple of years ago about a permanent Hall of Fame building at Titan Towers, seems perfect to do this and add a museum onto the side. Would be easier now, now that Vince has chucked some notes at the Panda brigade so no need to censor everything with a WWF logo on it. Also - I really fucking want that promo painting from Mania V

From a few news bits that went around fairly recently actually, I believe they are looking to have a physical location for the hall of fame in Florida, as well as a secondary WWE office. According to the rumors, Triple H is handling the negotiations with the state of Florida, who themselves are trying to barter in some sort of Wrestlemania related deal. IIRC, the state would like 'Mania to be held there twice in every 10 years.

I don't think I've ever heard of it being an extension or relatively close to the actual office, and I think that is still the idea.

  5. It was mentioned a few months back that the Jeff stuff was mainly leaning on the fact he wanted an Album out. I don't know if WWE have even got in touch, but he'd be back on the top of the card, plus I'm sure they'd knock an album out for him in a John Cena/Lillian Garcia style thing.

Plus, if the rumors are true, WWE were looking into giving him a decent work schedule that didn't involve him being at every show. Whilst he's doing well in TNA at the moment, again the "rumors" are all this is just to stop him jumping ship, whilst he had been previously a mid card sort of guy for the previous year since his return really. If anything I personally think it's probably a bad idea for him to stay with TNA.

  6. Best of Clash of the Champions was on Sky one over the weekend.

I caught this whilst flicking though and caught the Sting/Flair match from clash '88, which went to a time limit draw. I really wanted to skip past it as I thought "oh well I've missed most of it" but got really drawn into the closing moments of the match.

I ended up standing up (originally to leave the room before catching the match) for the whole thing, and again getting really into the closing minutes/near falls etc.

    What an awesome match!

  7. To those who are looking to invest in a belt for their promotion or collection, take some time to research companies and their products to make sure you don't get ripped off and get the best product available for your price range.

    Seconded

At the time when ordering the RWA title, I did have a little look around, but jumped straight into Wildcats because of the "look" and cost, (whilst a high cost, I presumed this would mean quality). Sadly It didn't work to well for me.

The second time round I stuck with price/affordable quality and was happy with what I ordered. From what I've seen there are a few decent guys about these days, but if you can afford it, you may as well go full tilt with Dave Millican/Reggie Parks.

  8. I actually like it.

It's a bit "different" and I personally think it looks better than the last one at least. Then again I still think they should of kept the original design, but maybe just update the logo.

My only gripe is all three of these belts don't really follow the same sort of design scheme. It is just me being picky really, but as with the WWE had the old "Winged Eagle", IC and Tag team belts following a similar look, and then in the Attitude era with the "Big Eagle", Oval IC and new age tag belts and so on. Current WWE is a mish-mash and also really annoys me a bit.

  9. It probably was the bolts, most companies have their etcher weld the bolts on to the plates and some companies can't do it for shit, unfortunately for yours it looks like that was the case and Andrew/Wildcats tried to repair it, lazily may I add. Sometimes if backing is applied badly the glue can over-run and get behind the plates but I have a gut feeling it was the first instance.

Yeah, as it was a gift for the Academy, I didn't find out for quite some time, and got in touch about having him help me repair it, but due to the amount of time passed he wouldn't have it. Fair enough, but it'd would of been nice. It has been since repair by a local welder who did a bang up job as well. It was a shame as looks wise it was fantastic, shame about the overall quality really.

I'm not sure about his other work, but i had seen the IPW:UK belt some some issues back when it was first made also. A picture from either FSM or Powerslam showed the backign falling off, so I've steered clear of him since.

All Star Belts' stuff looks good, but again carries a big price tag. I believe Championship Gold from Australia are back in business, and IIRC do some decent looking stuff for a half decent price as well.

  10. I can't remember the name of the business/person who makes the belts that PCW now own but he mainly operates on Ebay. The belts are made from a plastic proform resin and are very light compared to the weight of etched belt. For a limited budget company or someone who doesn't want to spend lots of money, the belts are fine. Certainly better than taping up a WWE/F belt with stickers.

Your RWA belt will have been one of Wildcats earlier belts, his quality has improved to a decent standard but his designs and leather still lets him down, I will say that he has marketed himself extremely well but I don't feel his prices justify the product he puts out. Unless the belt was handled roughly it shouldn't have broke in any circumstances. I'm assuming that it was the bolts that broke on the RWA belt?

    Thanks for answering.

Thats the guy, (the PCW one's anyway), he used to have a facebook account for his business, but was passed on via word of mouth from Gabe at DG:USA when i inquired about the belts

As for Wildcats, yeah it was something like that, I could see the bolts, but it looked like the main plate had been screwing, but then jsut glued onto the leather with really cheap glue. The second it arrived, one of the bolts popped off, and i was gutted, after shelling out his asking price (which at the time i thought was about right.)

  11. No problem at all, sorry it took me two times to get everything out.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you have made and who did you get to make them?

I had some titles made by the chap who did the DG:USA tag team belts, (Sorry the name of the company escapes me but I had a plain British singles , and British Tag belts made) for a project I was working on. They were sold off to PCW in the end, but I'm not sure if he's using them.......I wouldn't mind them back if he's not hah. I believe PCW had some pictures on their facebook if you're interested. The cost was very cheap, but you kinda of get what you pay for with that company. Not terrible by any means, but there are better looking belt makers out there.

I also had the Runcorn Wrestling Academy belt made by Wildcat belts, and whilst it looked amazing, the overall quality didn't last as it practically fell apart as soon as it arrived. After some private fixing, it is now in working order.

  12. Cool, thanks for that then!

A very random turn of events then, regarding that belt! And yes, in the past, I've had custom belts made before and am aware of the costs, so I'll probably pass on getting one done hah.

    Cheers Rule One!

  13. Curses ha.

Still cant recall seeing it. Trying to hunt it down on the internet, it was mentioned the "new" belt may of been made by the guys who did the WWECW title. Not sure if that's accurate though.

Meng left just before the buy out, so I can only presume it never really made it's way to TV? Still a bit lost as to why we never got a replica of the other belt though.

  14. Thanks Rule One, I bloody knew it!

I watched WCW to the bitter end and never ever saw this title until the replicas started coming out, and this explains why. Do we know if there was a reason behind the J-Mar belt wasn't released instead of that random contest belt?

  15. Random question prompted by the new WWE 13 DLC, and the replicas you can by, but...

Was this belt ever actually used in WCW?

I can only remeber and find pictures of this one:

  16. He hasn't, though. He's always been a really good wrestler. WWE fired him because they didn't find him marketable or remotely interesting. Also, he feels a lot of the road agents hate him because he Dad was a cunt to them back in the day. If he went back to WWF he'd still be the same bloke that left. He just gets more of an opportunity to showcase his ability in a promotion like New Japan.

It might just be me personally then, as when he first came in as Harry Smith to WWE, I thought he was shite. Like his actual wrestling seemed ok, I didn't like him very much and he seemed very awkward in the ring.

When re returned as David Hart-Smith, he seemed a bit better if not still a bit awkward. Then again maybe it was because he was in with Tyson Kidd, who seemed to gel better IMPO.

From what I'm hearing, he's doing alot better, and his New Japan stuff is very good. Again , I'm probably just picking up on stuff that isn't there, but he seems to be "at ease" now in the ring, and it helps him a lot, in my eyes at least. As for the Agents stuff, that just sucks for him really, as the Bulldogs did like their pranks.

  17. Was at least a year ago he resurfaced, Wasn't it more to do with being addicted to meth and living on the streets than avoiding child support.

Unsure, I swear I'd heard he had always been working in a door factory or something, but kept his head low to avoid child support, but then again that may of been before any potential homelessness/meth problems.

He does still look half decent though. If he could whip himself back into shape (looks wise), he'd make a decent bad-ass looking heel for the, WWE mid card at least.
