  1. So, I stumbled across this on Youtube and I had to ask. Whereabouts did this air? I've seen the censored version on TV, but surely WWE would censor this if it came out on DVD too.

Im sure WWF released a video with this on. Could be wrong though. Steve Austin said "motherfucker" and "fuck" a few times on his "Uncensored" and "Hell Yeah" videos and Triple H and the rest of them were swearing their loafs off on the DX video from 1998. WWF seemed to push the button a bit further on their VHS releases back then for the edgy characters. I remember my Mam buying me a WCW Kevin Nash/Ric Flair double pack and the DX video from Woolies during the last day before I broke up for my Summer holiday when I was at school. I swear, I dont think i've had a shag or anything close to being as enjoyable in my adult life thats topped the moment of popping those videos.

You're right. It aired uncensored on the Triple H 'My Time' video, which also featured HHH saying 'You want me to shoot, I'm going to fucking shoot'.

  2. I would love to comment on my first time, but I don't want to get banned. Life is so unfair, I feel like Chandler from Friends trying not to be sarcastic.

    Tough fucking shit.

    Either:

A - You're 14 years old, and nobody wants to be part of a forum where a 14 year old is talking about his masturbation habits. Come back when you're fucking legal.

B - You're pretending to be 14, and tough shit for pretending to be a 14 year old, and whining when you get treated like a 14 year old.

  3. I'm not saying that the costumes can't be done well in the right circumstances - but also bear in mind that the X-Men movies came before ANY of the movies you're talking about. They pretty much had to break new ground, and it would have been a step too far.

Could they do it now? Well, they could, but there are two problems - firstly, they're a group, but they tend not to dress like one. Secondly, they've already established the outfits. Thirdly, and most importantly, Wolverine's costume is ludicrous. Utterly ludicrous. It's one of the main costumes that could never work in real life.

  4. In the comic's I prefer the normal clothes version of Wolverine. In the films the X-Men leather is fine as I think the yellow/Red-Brown or even the mask would look out of place. If Wolverine wears a costume I like his X-force 1.

Would you prefer Batman without a mask in the movies too?

Different situation. Batman has good reason to wear a costume.

Some costumes translate well to the screen - some don't. Some of them can be adapted fairly easily, whereas some would have to be adapted so much you may as well scrap them altogether and go with something better.

And yes, they absolutely do need to draw in the non-comic book fans.

They do need to draw in non comic fans obviously but I think if someone's going to see a superpowers based action movie they're going to expect something fun and exciting and having bright costumes won't put them off.

That'll be why the X-Men movies didn't make any money then.

It won't put them off, but it might do - they're having to work very carefully to make the costumes look both realistic and cool. The last thing you want is something that looks like it's for kids.

Here's Cap's first appearance. Shield shaped shield. It got changed to the round one pretty quickly after a copyright claim from another publisher who had a hero with a similar shield...called The Shield.

It's always been described as "bulletproof" or "indestructable" but I don't think that the idea of it being the Vibranium/Iron one-of-a-kind mix turned up until the early 80s.

There was also a photon shield, which was made from energy. It sucked.

At this point, may I pimp 'Comic Heroes #2' again? Available from WH Smiths, I wrote a rather large feature about the history of Captain America, including all the other film versions - even the Turkish knock off.

  7. Considering how the Joker essentially WAS the Riddler in the last film I think this is stupid.

Levitt would've been good for Scarecrow but Nolan already fucked that up.

See, I think the fascinating thing for the Riddler to do would be to be almost emotionless, and just out-think Batman at every opportunity.

I can't remember who came up with it, but someone came up with an 'origin' for the Riddler, in which he'd been seriously physically abused as a child, and was beaten horrifically if he lied. As he grew up, he felt an absolute compulsion to tell the truth, albeit in cryptic ways.

  8. i thought luke cage was around before jon stewart.

Yeah alright, you don't have to rub it in. That Wiki article put up above mentioned a load of guys preceding Stewart. I'm almost certain I read it on Wiki that Stewart was the first black superhero, but obviously I must have read it somewhere else.

He was one of the first black superheroes not to be called "Black [something]", though.

He was the first black DC superhero.

  9. Ah, I see it's time for the bi-annual UKFF "mong love-fest". A shite poster 'turns' and everyone thinks that they're awesome for two weeks before they just become an annoying background drone again.

That's always going to happen - the booking here in recent years has been shite. I've lost count of the frequent failures to capitalise on white-hot heat.

EDIT: I mean, look at Howard. He's got this whole anti-nice, arrogant loverman heel shtick going on. He's already got great heat for beating down Anne, but it won't be long before he's jobbing to old man neil and JLM's weak-ass punches. Au will probably provide the muscle but then we'll see just an endless feud between the two which started great and then went on too long, culminating in a shit war in the UKFF Member Awards.

Fair point. On the minus side, the way he's been introduced, I figure Seanz25 will be next in line for the 'lol, ledge!' style posts for continual mong-dom.

  10. True, though he's closer to superhero than Batman is. Constantine does have supernatural powers at least.

Batman has a functioning moral compass, though.
Thats debateable. I mean more because batman has no superpowers and is a 'hero' not a superhero. I made the mistake of saying Batman was a superhero on a superhero forum and got some right shit from the comic version of ROHbots.Besides, Constantine generally does the right thing in the end. Like Han Solo.
Oh yeah, I got what you mean. The fanboys would possibly get arsey about Bats being a 'vigilante' rather than a superhero, however since he's part of the JLA, I think it can be excused. The thing with John though is that he does what he thinks is the right thing to do. That doesn't always mean that it is - primarily because his moral compass is broken.Incidentally, I think that's one of the things that makes him hands down the best character in comics today. Hell, one of the reasons I write is because I aim to write Hellblazer one day.

I actually enjoyed the film, it wasnt a patch on the comics true, but I thought it was pretty good for all that. Horses for courses I guess.

I probably would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't laid claim to the title 'Constantine', and then raped the character.
True enough, but I think they got the basics right. And thats far better than I expected them to, so I came out of it happy.
He quit smoking and ended up chewing gum. They couldn't have gotten it any more wrong.

  12. I've got a feeling Green Lantern will be really good, I think DC comics have a lot to prove after all the successful great Marvel movies, DC's only hits in the last 20 years have been the Batman ones.

Depends how picky you want to get.Watchmen was a hit.And from DC owned prints you have:ConstantineStardustRoad To Perdition. All of which made significant profits and/or got good reviews.
Watchmen was amazing, I can't believe I forgot it, one of my top 3 films of all time.As for the others, I'm talking superheroes really.
Woah there, Hellblazer was a fantastic comic. Dont be putting down Constantine. :p
Doesn't make him a superhero. Although he is a magnificent bastard. However, the movie was utter shite.
  13. Howard done got himself a hater. A comfort eating hater. I'll have to listen to the rest of Slick Rick's back catalogue for advice on how to deal with this situation before I come back.Cheers,Howard.

Dude, your 'signing off' gimmick is shite. Don't add to that by trying to be a pound-shop Butchreedmark.

Stardust isn't owned by DC. It was a novel. The only time DC got involved was for a comic adaptation of the novel.
Sorry mate, it was a graphic novel before it was a novel and the rights are owned by DC for it in that format. Gaiman owns the copyrights for the text alone mind.
You know, you're right, and I apologise. The fact that it was primarily text confused itself in my memory.

    Wasnt green lanturn black?

The Green Lantern that the comics centre around wasn't black - but there are lots of Green Lanterns in the corp. One of them (John Stewart) is black.
  16. Someone spends too much time on 4chan...

I always thought it was pretty hilarious how in the original, the black ranger was black, and the yellow ranger was asian. They wouldn't get away with it these days, since it's all PG now

Even funnier, they dressed in their 'colours' when they were in street clothes - except the black guy, who didn't dress in black. But luckily, he came prepared by having black skin.

  17. Right, here's the thing, in all seriousness.

I think some of the comments about Mr Midas' appearance are somewhat out of order, even if they have been funny. On the plus side, the advice 'cut hair very short, grow beard, get fit and wear sunglasses' is actually pretty good. It's also reminded me to step up the working out I've been doing (I have some muscles where, before, I had not! Result! - now for the gut).

However, the 'unrequited love' stuff is entirely fair game, and it's entirely Midas' own fault. The picture thread was quite blatant fishing for attention, and it's backfired. Now, there's a way to react to this without making yourself too much of a target, and it's the defensiveness that's been problematic. Frankly, you've come across as delusional and overly defensive - especially since you're realistically talking to a bunch of guys who have been in somewhat similar positions. However, you're taking it to ridiculous standards, by assuming everyone to be jealous.

I don't think anyone is assuming you to be a prick, and in fairness, you've responded well to some stuff you'd have had a right to get upset by. But this is basically an odd situation, and one which bears all the hallmarks that you're being mocked for. You're responding to this with astonishment that anyone is daring to suggest such a thing, and it's your reactions that have ended up escalating this.

For Christ's sake, you're doing this, and getting mocked, during a day in which another forum member has openly set themselves up for mockery with the joking revelation that he wishes he'd fucked his cousin when he had the chance, and yet nobody gives a shit, because he's shrugged it off, rather than getting ludicrously defensive.

  18. Hey, this could explain the age thing...

Mr Midas, is she close to her father? I'm guessing that she's using you as a surrogate father figure.

Luckily, this could lead to that sweet, sweet piece of jailbait ass that we all know you're after. Just start throwing in phrases like 'who's the daddy?', and after a while, subtly change it to 'who's your daddy?'. Before long, I guarantee you'll end up in confused, tearful and reproachful sex with her.

    Good luck.
