  1. 5Star lost well over quarter of a million  in their last run. No doubt the multi  millionaire funding wrote a lot of it off but that has to be the biggest financial failure.

On the show I attended they had a paid attendance of roughly 500 people in a venue that holds 10,000 with Rey Mysterio and a huge card of imports. That show alone would have lost more than £250,000

  2. They are in a lose / lose situation.

As Bomber says above there isn't any talents hot enough on the Indy scene to build the company around that would offset the huge losses.
But their brand is based on big names and big venues so they must feel that they have to keep that going at big losses.

They would have been better off letting Progress die, buy the tape library and start a fresh promotion if they wanted to get into the wrestling business. They truly were sold a lemon.

  3. Looking at their next show they are flying in one of Sanity, Mike Santana from Proud & Powerful and Shelton Benjamin.

I don't see them doing more than 600 -- 800 in attendance so pretty clear where the money is going.

Not sure I know much about Wrestling Travel. But Lee McAteer comes across as an insufferable twat every time I've seen him.

  4. I lived through WCW in 2000 and AEW is nothing like that. The only things they have in common is that backstage is more interesting than the TV product.

WCW was off the wall, and suffered terrible booking. AEW falls into TKs wet dream of wrestling and suffers from lack of personality and stories.

  5. What a bunch of fucking dork losers the Bucks and TK are.

I'll add - what is the point? Who is possibly interested? There is zero pay off with this and makes AEW look like idiots regardless.

  6. I am trying with AEW but nothing is really grabbing my attention this year - bar Ospreay, Swerve and Christian Cage.

    Some random thoughts ...

Copelands promo was ridiculous, especially coming from such a WWE guy. What a waste of air time.

So much talent just seems directionless or not used. And storylines are pretty much a non entity.

We had close to a year build up for the "Devil" angle and that seems to be on the back burner.

Moxley is a big miss on the shows, and he has been pretty much doing nothing of note for 18 months.

  7. I enjoyed the latest Ghostbusters but my God did it take an age to get going. The half baked family melodrama needs to go if they want to do more of these.

Far too many characters but by far the best was Dan Ackroyd as Ray Stantz, a great performance which elavated the whole thing.

I work in a place where if the managers over step the line certain colleagues will literally tell the managers they’re causing them stress and go home on the sick. Is there not a slightly more subtle less threatening way of making your managers know that’s the way you’re heading?

I am a senior manager myself so it's a bit more complex sadly.

  9. This is just a vent, but I actually feel like I am at breaking point with my job which I've done for 15 years.

I have a specialist role - you could train someone to do it but that would take a couple of months. There is two of us who do this job with over a thousand people relying on info and support.

3 weeks ago I got an email from my manager saying the other person was off sick. He didn't return the following week so I asked if there was a strategy in place as I was starting to get a lot of questions from his area.

No reply. I suggested that someone supports me and I delegate some aspects of the job that wouldn't really need training and that I look after the big picture things. Said they would come back to me.

i then got an email not from my manager but from a peer saying that I needed to do everything and that they could count on me for the foreseeable.

Issue is, this is sending me to breaking point. There is far too much work for one person and I feel like I am fire fighting or not able to give proper attention to what I am doing. I'm exhausted after just a week.

I asked to speak to my manager and instead got a message back from the same peer saying that resources are stretched.

So. Should I keep battling on and trying my best?

Say fuck it and join my colleague on the sick?

I do also have a job interview coming up for a high paid position elsewhere - so need to keep my energy and spirits up for that.

  10. Anyone else remember him being attacked in the 90s in Newcastle?

Savident said he was giving him acting lessons in his hotel. Everyone else said he got beat up by a rent boy.

Think he has his throat slashed too from what I remember
