  1. 5Star lost well over quarter of a million in their last run. No doubt the multi millionaire funding wrote a lot of it off but that has to be the biggest financial failure. On the show I attended they had a paid attendance of roughly 500 people in a venue that holds 10,000 with Rey Mysterio and a huge card of imports. That show alone would have lost more than £250,000
  2. They are in a lose / lose situation. As Bomber says above there isn't any talents hot enough on the Indy scene to build the company around that would offset the huge losses. But their brand is based on big names and big venues so they must feel that they have to keep that going at big losses. They would have been better off letting Progress die, buy the tape library and start a fresh promotion if they wanted to get into the wrestling business. They truly were sold a lemon.
  3. Gary Ward is a bigger mark than McAteer and that's saying something.
  4. There is a business but most companies / promoters are not savy. They play to the internet crowd and are far too swayed by that. Many companies make good profits and sustainable shows but aren't "cool" or seen as "cool".
  5. In further companies that sold out to WWE news, ICW had to move their show last week from the Garage which holds roughly 250 to their training centre on the week of the show.
  6. Looking at their next show they are flying in one of Sanity, Mike Santana from Proud & Powerful and Shelton Benjamin. I don't see them doing more than 600 -- 800 in attendance so pretty clear where the money is going. Not sure I know much about Wrestling Travel. But Lee McAteer comes across as an insufferable twat every time I've seen him.
  7. Lack of ticket sales - high cost imports on some shows and venues in London cannot be cheap. They also lost WWE funding last year.
  8. They have published their annual statement and makes very interesting reading. They are owe £461,000 in debt over the next year - having racked up £380,000 in debt in 2023 an average of £16k per show loss. Hope this isn't another 1PW coming.
  9. Never mind having Flair, Jericho, Darby Allin, etc under contract.
  10. Tony Khan had an interview cut live today when talking the draft on NHL today when he could / should of have promoted AEW and instead calling WWE "the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling" What an idiot
  11. I thought Golden Jets or OJO Jericho was the worst incarnation - then I met Learning Tree Jericho
  12. The "sheets" are reporting that Ospreays promo points were given to him. Sniff really is an idiot.
  13. I lived through WCW in 2000 and AEW is nothing like that. The only things they have in common is that backstage is more interesting than the TV product. WCW was off the wall, and suffered terrible booking. AEW falls into TKs wet dream of wrestling and suffers from lack of personality and stories.
  14. Literally no one comes out of this looking good - but Khan in particular looks like a moron "fearing for his life". Get a grip.
  15. If I was Wembley I wouldn't be too thrilled with a company broadcasting CCTV of an assault on their property using their property backstage.
  16. What a bunch of fucking dork losers the Bucks and TK are. I'll add - what is the point? Who is possibly interested? There is zero pay off with this and makes AEW look like idiots regardless.
  17. I am trying with AEW but nothing is really grabbing my attention this year - bar Ospreay, Swerve and Christian Cage. Some random thoughts ... Copelands promo was ridiculous, especially coming from such a WWE guy. What a waste of air time. So much talent just seems directionless or not used. And storylines are pretty much a non entity. We had close to a year build up for the "Devil" angle and that seems to be on the back burner. Moxley is a big miss on the shows, and he has been pretty much doing nothing of note for 18 months.
