I get the whole Jey attacking Bryan after the match in storyline. Jey wants to stay in the family and to please Roman but would it have hurt to have Uso cheat on the way to victory. I'm guessing it's Roman vs Bryan coming up and Bryan losing clean doesn't make him look credible as a challenger.

It all depends on who the talking heads are on this project. Like him or not Dave Meltzer is the perfect guy to call for this, but will they? The only people that will talk are people friendly with WWE because that is what the E want

AEW currently is the babyface company but they are rapidly losing a lot of that goodwill with all but their most diehard fans by doing things like that.
It's transparent 'Everything's great because we say it's great' phony propaganda that WWE so often [rightly] gets blasted for and one of these days AEW is going to find itself in a situation they can't just gloss over. 

Were you expecting Alex Reynolds to say that Dr Samson is an idiot who doesn't know what he's doing and that his collegaues are negligent jerks. 

Now that was a really good show with a couple of flaws (Dr Samson not being very good and the weird booking of FTR/Bucks) 

My main takeaway from Wednesday night was how many people don't understand how wrestling actually works. 

I saw a bunch of takes on twitter from "smart" people who were mad that Sonny lost in a less than a minute. I'm sure Kenny would have got extra over going back and forth for 17 minutes with a AEW Dark regular. 

Also read a bunch of people saying that they don't feel more compelled to watch a future Jericho/MJF match after the dinner debonair. That wasn't the fucking point of the segment. It's when MJF and the Inner Circle turn on Jericho (and I hope that won't be for another 6 months) is when I'm supposed to care about a Jericho/MJF feud.

While Retribution are rubbish and the whole logic behind the group is stupid, them being jobbed out so quickly is everything wrong with WWE now. Even Nexus post-SummerSlam got better treatment then these guys.

As much as Matt Riddle annoys me, booking a baby face to be scared of a bodyguard isn't going to work in the long haul. It's not exactly rocket science. 

Count me in in the Fiend/Bliss dislike. My problem is that it's catering to fan fiction writers who seem obbessed with the idea that Alexa Bliss is/should be Sister Abigail.

Today a guy I know who has a teenage son who loves WWE approached me.

We have spoken about wrestling a couple of times before and he has always took the piss, but today he came to my desk and excitedly told me that over the weekend they watched the most awesome match he had ever seen. Randy Orton vs Cactus Jack.

He raved about how brutal it was and "they were definitely real drawing pins" etc., going as far as to ask me if I could recommend some more matches like that on the WWE Network for him & his kid to watch. 

I suggested Cactus Jack vs Triple H at Royal Rumble 2000 and Mick Foley vs Edge at WrestleMania 22.

 

It's always a good feeling when somebody you know suddenly converts like that.

That Cactus/Triple H match at the Rumble converted a lot of people in my year at school into wrestling fans. 

It's quite remarkable how many of us loved the "blood and guts" matches of the time

Tbf if you look at the ratings USA are getting on the whole, them not getting Big E isn't a big surprise. Wonder if NBC Universal with take stock at the next shareholders meeting 🤔

New Day were going to be split up one day. I'm happy it wasn't one of them turning heel on the other. They can do stuff together at the PPVs. If Big E wins a title at WM, his mates can celebrate with him and vice versa.

Last night's show was fun

For all the wasting of certain talent, the fact they've made The Artist Formerly Known as Punishment Martinez someone interesting is a borderline miracle. 

KUSHIDA finally getting to do something makes me so happy. His attack on Dream after the match makes him automatically the Babyface of the Year

Swerve and Escobar having a great match was not surprising. The fact the end was so rubbish was not surprising either. 

As much as I can't stand Candice LaRae, she should have won. The mileage they could have got from Gargano being jealous of his missus would have been great. Enjoyed the double surprise returns. Hope Ember gets some momentum back. 

Balor/O'Reilly was a really good professional wrestling match. Ridge Holland and Adam Cole is going to be..... fascinating 

Biggest "Down" were those who took their masks off during the show. After the past few days in the States , you'd think people would have learnt from others mistakes.

The problem with the Orton going "Buffalo Bill" on the legends was that it was done in total silence. No one screaming when they got hit, no one screaming when the room went pitch black. It was just weird

On another note, I’ve seen Cody’s promo get praised online and I can’t for the life of me understand why. His delivery is good enough, but every time he speaks it feels like he’s read another page of his thesaurus and wants to show off.

Enjoyed the show but two moments annoyed me no end

1) When they do FTR vs Bucks, one of the teams is going to be face right. Bucks aren't fully heel yet but if you're superkicking Uncle Tony you might as well be a heel, so why are you having them be dickheads heels. Unless Omega turning on Page eventually causes Bucks to side with Page in the long run

2) Jungle Boy and Fenix are in the tournament? If they are doing W-L records as deciding factors into who gets title opportunities then those two shouldn't be in the tourney. Maybe that's the real reason Hangman was pissed off
