Well it looks like Willis and Jackson are actually giving a shit in this film. They have to be. McAvoy is a powerhouse in Split and it looks like he's bringing it again. They also seem to care about the film. Jackson has been on about a sequel for years apparently.
Unbreakable is still a top film. Best thing M Nights done

Well that Trailer is incredible

I would recommend Halloween 3. It has nothing to do with Michael and its batshit fun.
-
They're doing a Doctor Sleep film with Ewan McGregor. I'm not sure what to think about that

Barry Lyndon for me is Kubrick's best film. Saw it again recently on the big screen and its just fantastic. Its also hilarious at times

So I rewatched it today. A few second viewing thoughts:
I will be interested to see how she develops. She was clearly very Tennant in this, but he always had that slither of darkness through him. She was a bit primary school teacher at times. Looking forward to discovering her as it goes on. As I mentioned before, very early days.
The scripts do worry me. This really sagged in the middle and I find that a real problem in Chibnall's writing. Hopefully this was just a first episode issue in order to set everything up.
Loved the charity shop for her outfit strand. Don't know why but it just felt right.
Loved how the gender is mentioned one maybe twice and that's it. It doesn't matter. I get the feeling other writers would have done a whole hour on The Doctor using the wrong toilet.

I agree with a lot of what you say @BomberPat but I do think King has a point with Nicholson's portrayal in the role. Then again, I'm of the belief that Nicholson was pretty hammy after One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, everything else seemed to be an impression of that.
@LokiI really loved KUJO , which is when he was at his most coked up to the nines.

I think King is a fountain of ideas and sometimes the books slightly suffer from that as there is soooo much in there.
Personally, I still think The Shinning is a better book than film, however the TV version they did with King that was closer to the book was awful. So maybe its best that things get changed, as what works in one medium, does not necessarily work in the other (I know that this is in no way an original thought)

Shortcuts and nostalgia will be fine for a bloke in his 50s. He's not coming back to win the Rumble then go 30 minutes keeping up with AJ at Mania
HBK coming out of retirement should still be a massive thing. You could build a tremendous storyline around it. Even the tag situation you could follow THE ROCK/CENA formula with the tag match at Survivor Series to get the ring rust off.
I don't know, I just feel that to throw it away like this is odd, especially when Shawn has turned down the chance of both Bryan and AJ in the past.
-
Its amazing how unimportant HBK coming out of retirement seems. It should have been a huge build. Instead its for a match with Taker and bloody Kane

Ted Danson is great in everything. I miss him in Bored To Death

Its sad that the old grounds are also just totally gone. The nice thing about Highbury is it is essentially still there. The East and West stands are still standing, with the marble halls intact. Its nice to walk past the day of a game and still see it there. Whereas a lot of the grounds are just lost forever. Isn't the old Baseball ground now a car park? I know it sounds stupidly nostalgic and it is really, but there's just a lot I miss about Football.
-
Went away to Craven Cottage on Sunday and it made me sad at how much the same modern stadiums are now. Craven Cottage is always a great away day, but I just love the ground's look. It just makes me miss that great architecture of old.

Totally. As I mentioned earlier Sanders had the opportunity to appeal to places that ultimately Trump picked up. It was an election for change and he was the candidate to take Trump on.
However, worth mentioning that Hillary still won the popular vote by about 3 million and lost those key states not by much at all. I don't see America having shifted massively to the far right. They just need to appeal to those states like Michigan that they have ultimately failed.

First episodes are always hard to judge with the new Doctor. Bar the Eleventh Hour, which is the finest post-regeneration Doctor story ever, they are always about the new Doctor coming to terms with their new self rather than any threat.
It was OK. Whitaker was fine, she'll obviously grow massively as the series goes on. I liked Bradley Walsh and the other lad. Didn't see much point to the Police Officer, but again, I imagine she'll grow as we go on.
My worry is Chibnall as the main writer. Bar the first series of Broadchurch I haven't liked anything he's ever done (his Doctor Who stories up until last nights have not set the world on fire) But very happy to be proved wrong.
All in all very enjoyable and a promising start. It really benefits from being on a Sunday evening as well.

I am not, in any way saying this is ideal or what anybody wants. I simply asked if anyone can honestly tell me who they would put forward from the Democrat's to fight Trump who has a chance of winning? Fact is we are through the looking glass. I put Oprah forward as it is something that has been discussed (as has Michelle Obama) by people, and she would be able to take him on.
American politics does not follow the same conventions as most Democracies. Its Presidency has been held before by people who did not hold Political office (as is the case now)
I am not saying this is what I want, but can anyone see anyone taking on Trump who isn't something different?
-
And I suppose Trump was a stupid idea?
The fact is America is currently in a situation that the status quo is utterly not trusted by either side. Its why Bernie was the Democrats best chance last election. He was different. Not saying he would have won (he probably wouldn't have) but he definitely had a shot at convincing states like Michigan he was a good alternative.
There is absolutely nobody on the Democrat side who will trouble Trump in 2020. Fact is that they will have to think outside the box. She is just the sort of big name publicity machine that would be able to take him on. Also people like her.
-
Problem with the economy in the US and trickle down economics usually results in a bust at some point. Happened under Regan, Bush and no doubt will happen again (probably post 2020)
Its weird with the Republicans. Only once in 6 elections have they won the popular vote in a Presidential race yet they manage to get in due to the shit show of the electoral college. There are far more Liberals in America then it seems, yet Republicans know how to work that system and get themselves in power. The Democrats and the left in general really need to organise themselves.
As stupid as it seems, I really can only see Oprah having any chance against Trump in 2020. And this is where the US is at the moment.

I don't think he trashed the film, he just said they cut out his favourite bits of the film.
Fact is it should have been R Rated.

VENOM
I thought Hardy was brilliant as usual, he's sort of doing Ace Ventura at time. The scenes that work are the Brock/Venom buddy cop relationship. Anytime this isn't on screen the film is utter rubbish.
-
I don't think Austin is. I remember before the election he had a pop a few times on a radio show about him being a coward. I don't think Austin particularly cares really.
I know Foley is pretty vocally against Trump (hey a Foley positive!) Obviously Jim Cornette hates him.
-
Corrie always nails comedy. Even looking back, there's just brilliant character work going on. 'Enders rarely touches it, though it should. A bit more humor would be welcome (and not people like Gary etc)

I get that, and its admirable that he has come out to defend her. But surely it is part of the territory now, especially as they are so active on social media themselves. I hate to say it, but if you put yourself out there as much as the Bella's do, you open yourself up for way more criticism. I know some go way over the top, but that's twitter really (not saying that's right btw). I saw a lot of people defending her and those who were critical, were pointing out that she's been bloody awful in the ring.Â
-
It is a bit of an odd defence of her though 'I'm well dangerous also!!'

Saw MANDY at the Prince Charles on Saturday.
Firstly, its an insanely beautiful film. Its trippy as, but just on a pure film making level its wonderful to look at.
Nicolas Cage is excellent. He does go full Cage at certain points, but its warranted. They play some bits for laughs, but it works.
As the actions ramps up it gets to great levels of gore, but they're all sort of ingenious.
All in all, I loved it. If you can see it in a cinema, I would recommend it. If not, its out on Blu Ray on the 29th. Worth picking up a copy.
