London has plenty of problems, and throwing taxpayer money at Wrestlemania would be a bad look no matter what. But it's a question of saying "but we've got Rey Mysterio!" instead of paying striking train drivers, not of the conservative fantasy of London being a crime-ridden hell hole.

I think you've taken a throwaway line and kinda took it seriously and a Wrestling discussion isn't really the place to discuss politics, but you can throw stats around all you like, London is in a really bad state in lots of ways and Khan has done fuck all to address it. I'm a lifelong Labour supporter and he's as rubbish as the previous two mayors.

Anyway as I say, not really the place for politics and it was just a line.

  2. We've already got a big pro wrestling show at Wembley that could be an annual event WITHOUT using taxpayers money. Crimes out of hand in London at the moment and he's going 'LOOK LADS HERE'S REY MYSTERIO'

I wish Labour had anyone else running for Mayor.

Anyway, can see it at the Spurs stadium if anything.

  3. The narrative that Klopp announcing he was leaving is the reason they have collapsed would make sense if they weren't in all 4 competitions mid March, and were top only a few weeks ago. The real reason is they overachieved this season and are not as good as Arsenal and City. He's also replaced that amazing front three with players who aren't good enough. Will be a few years of transition for Liverpool now.

Carragher losing his head yesterday was funny. Wayne Rooney I thought was great on punditry especially with Liverpool constantly moaning about 12.30 kick offs. I mean playing first IS an advantage.

but he feels ridiculously miscast in the role.

He's the only person they can cast in that role as it makes sense. Who has the biggest beef with Khan? Perry. I think this gimmick is great and fits in with the Bucks.

Also I imagine we wont be seeing much of Tony on screen. No doubt he'll be 'out' for a while and The Bucks will be running the show.It is a good way to have them in charge and plays into 'he's a nice guy but not a boss' thing. I thought it was quite good!

  5. That Ospreay/Danielson match somehow over delivered. What an absolute belter. Not seen a match that good in a long time, helped by a great crowd who were into it.

Swerve winning was great. It felt like they had to put the belt on him now or he may lose some momentum. Joe has been brilliant, looked every bit the man in his run.

AEW always nail PPVs really. I don't think they've had many bad ones. Hopefully with Swerve at the top they can get some momentum going.

Also, I really like the new Bucks gimmick

WWE hasn’t been this hot for quality, ratings, booking and bunch of whole other stuff in a very very long time and AEW is heading the complete opposite direction.

True but things change very quickly. Post Mania we'll see where we shake up.

No doubt Dynasty will be a banger and hopefully MJF/Omega etc back means it will step up a gear going into Wembley. This was a stupid thing to do but I think there is a slight over reaction here. What needs to change is for them to run smaller arenas, hotter crowds. Get the feeling back.

I'm still baffled by Tony Khan's thought process here. What did he think would happen? Go and do a podcast and show the footage if you must.

What's the reach? I said I hear they're producing some good shows but the lack of buzz is backed up by all the metrics.

WWE is on absolute fire at the moment. It clearly has an affect on the competition. AEW is on a bit of a downer but they're still pulling in decent numbers. Obviously there is stuff they need to do better. The annoying this is bringing this back up has undone some of the good work they have been doing. It's pointless

Wasn't there an altercation with Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara a while back?

Yeah, he slapped him. That was fucking stupid as well but they seem to have put that behind them.

WWE have a very good locker room and a well established management structure, that's undeniable. But he's fallen out with people everywhere he's ever been, including them and including his best friend. Maybe he's finally grown-up though, who knows?

Just waiting for Drew to call him Jungle Pepsi or something and he'll lose his shit.

There's been no fights in the AEW locker room bar the Punk one either it seems. He's the only one still doing this stuff.

I’ve lost a fair hof of respect for the company, when only this time last week I was debating putting my hand in my pocket to attend All In 2.

But you respect a man who assaults his co-workers. Got it

Why would that stop you going to ALL IN? Because some wrestling promoter did petty shit? I would never be at a wrestling show if that was the case

Will it? Or do AEW fans prefer good wrestling matches to petty bullshit? I can't wait* to find out if it makes an actual difference.

I think a lot of people who might not watch it regularly will have tuned in for the segment through curiosity. Not talking huge numbers but I imagine it will be up from the last few weeks.

Problem is there's no real pay off with this.

  12. That was just bland. We all know he was a prat for punching someone and was rightly fired. If they were showing the footage, I thought they would make it funny or something. Have The Bucks do commentary and put the boot in. This was just...what? I don't see how it pushes ANYTHING forward. Nobody is going to change their mind on this. It will pop a rating, but it was all very desperate Bischoff in late 98.

I don't see how this benefits Perry. Not the way I would have gone with him.

The only person who has won is Drew, who will have an absolute field day with this. Probably will put his hair in a ponytail every time Punk talks.

The rest of the show was 'meh' with a shit crowd. If you're gonna drop the footage at least do it on a show which is a banger. Ospreay's line was pretty shit but throwaway. Should have just said I turned you down mate so stop crying and put over the company. Too much to ask.

All in all I think AEW are really missing Omega/MJF/Hangman. They need two of these on Dynamite. It just doesn't feel like AEW at the moment despite the good work of Joe/Swerve etc.

Behave, their small dick energy was all over when they had actual competition.

Yup. It's hilarious when people seem to forget Vince fucking loved taking shots at WCW. Hell even when he was kicking the shit out of them he sent Big Show out dressed as Hogan to mock him. They only stopped mentioning competition when there wasn't any.

Dave Meltzer is saying it's solely to embarrass CM Punk and Khan is furious.

Think Meltzer said he didn't hear that from Khan himself. I reckon there's a lot of misinformation about to try and shroud it in secrecy. It wont be what anyone thinks it is I reckon

I didn't get that The Rock was turning babyface from that segment at all. Did I watch the wrong one? He called everyone trailer trash, put undertones of threats throughout the segment, and then ended it with a thinly veiled gesture that he's got something on Rhodes. You're all mad.

Agreed. I think it was more 'What's he up to' rather than smiling babyface. Cody V The Rock should be massive and have The Rock continue on this trajectory. He has clearly loved it and it's hopefully convinced him to take some more risks (also in his acting career which has been shit for years)

    Does Mox care though?

No, especially as I'm not sure him and Rollins are particularly close. Mox loves the freedom he gets wrestling the way he loves. Perhaps in a few years if he feels like hanging it up, but I cannot see him being back there any time soon unless a deal was cut.

Overall it was an OK RAW. No real mega surprises. I do wonder where they go from here. Punk/Drew is obviously great fun, but I do question who's facing Cody until The Rock/Roman get back.

  16. Michael Cole was superb on commentary in that Main Event. He's always going to somewhat grate on me, but he can be excellent and last night felt the first time he's called a 'Mania main event and it felt like he added to it.
