  1. Mick Foley? More like DICK STROKEY! BANG BANG!
  2. Based on the trailers it looks like it's the accident, plus a bunch of 'being Hogan's mate was hard on him, you know' stuff. Going to watch it later. Hope they talk about the time his bag of coke caused an anthrax scare on the Boston subway system.
  3. That would actually be a really fucking great role for Cena. I'd be more excited for that than 'Mania. Not that I'm not excited for 'Mania now because, fucking hell. I'm not a regular viewer and can't see myself ever being one again (unless my kids get really into years from now), but that final segment was just tremendous. The Rock is, was and always will be on another level. Really glad he changed the act up and is now going with this Final Boss thing because it really suits him. Here's hoping his body doesn't disintegrate on impact during the actual match.
  4. I think/am willing to bet there are TRT use exemptions for part-timers/people over 40. First thing I thought when I saw that shot of AJ was he's quickly approaching his Randy Savage 1999 phase. May God bless him.
  5. Saw it last night - only two people in the screening, to boot - and this pretty much sums it up for me. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. Had a few funny moments. Couldn't have been arsed with two hours of it, glad it was done in 80. Also read they're working on a second film in a loose 'lesbian trilogy', with Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans starring.
  6. A rare Rick Martel sighting (from Conrad Thompson's Twitter).
  7. Great character actor who was always good value in whatever he popped up in. I always immediately flash to Blood Simple, for whatever reason. Might give it a re-watch soon.
  8. They have all been good episodes so far and I'm really enjoying this season. The Tenta episode was sad, the Bagwell episode was really interesting and gave a lot of new information about Buff's life pre-wrestling. I think the Gordy episode was my favourite. You forget how good he was. And so young, too. If someone like prime Gordy came around today they'd be the biggest star in the world. He was unreal.
  9. It was so much better than I thought it was going to be. Not that I thought it was going to be shit or anything, it was just really fucking good. Feels like one that is due for a reappraisal (presuming it hasn't already happened).
  10. Going to see this later in the week as part of a rare date night with The Wife™️. Haven't heard many good things (Kermode hated it), but I'm still sort of looking forward to it and am willing to go in with an open mind.
  11. 8mm One of those 'surprised I haven't watched this one before' films for me. I did have it on VHS way back when, but don't think I ever got around to watching the whole thing (though bits of it did seem familiar). Anyway, I really liked. It's got a great Nic Cage central performance, an engrossing plot and is very well made. Mad to think mainstream studios were greenlighting stuff like this at such expense at the time, but I'm glad they did. Hell of a supporting cast, too, with Tony Soprano, Frank Sobotka and Wacky Phoenix showing up to do their bit.
  12. The original Crow film was one of my favourites when I was about 12 or 13. I still think it's pretty good, with a lot of visual style and a great central performance by Brandon Lee. Remake doesn't look great, really. Lots of CGI and violence doesn't look like it'll have half as much charm.
  13. He looks absolutely knackered. His decision, of course, but I really hope he doesn't go through with this. There are different ways for a beat-up wrestler to get healthy (DDP Yoga?).
  14. The most likely scenario, in my opinion. We probably won't learn exactly who knew what unless definitive evidence comes to light or they are called to testify in court. Speaking of, I would be fascinated to see if this ends up going to trial. You would assume it gets settled out of court so that WWE/McMahon can avoid the discovery phase, but you never know...
  15. They were named as officers who were aware of what was going on, i.e. that Grant was basically hired for no actual purpose and was in a physical relationship with Vince McMahon. WWE have stated that Khan and Blum had no idea of any abuse having taken place, but their statement did not say that either was unaware of a physical relationship between Grant and McMahon. It is alleged that they voiced concerns about the relationship initially and, according to the suit, asked whether Grant 'could be trusted' (before later showing support for the relationship). WWE denies that this ever happened. Also, Stephanie McMahon was named as corporate officer 3 and is referenced in the suit as being aware of her father engaging in other inappropriate sexual conduct.
  16. Was also never big on World Party, but I love The Waterboys, especially the 80s stuff and Wallinger's fingerprints are all over the This is the Seas record. He did the synthesizers on Whole of the Moon and the piano on the title track. Those contributions really help make those songs what they are. He also co-wrote Don't Bang the Drum. RIP.
