I love the fact he's just a normal, down to earth fella.

A "down to earth fella" who has been banned from his local, THREE times! With an eye-gouging Dad and Billy Joe Saunders as a mate!

If he lived next door to me & the ball came over, i would not put a knife to it! :D

But yeah, you have to love The Gypsy King ❤️

That's just life in general isn't it? Over the years, I can count on one hand how many former co-workers I've kept in regular contact with and even that's mostly through social media or is work related. Doesn't mean that I dislike them or anything. It just is what it is.

Yeah that is a fair point regarding the real world, but there is a level of phoniness in wrestling that i never really felt comfortable with. Compound that with working in what i would describe as  a "fantasy bullshit world", then you have the politics & stupid rules that seem have no bearing on outside of wrestling.

Also backstabbing, arse licking & ribs. Little wonder that i quit, never to return :(

I'd agree with that for the lower levels, but not the higher ones - seems to me that, if you're established as a big name, absence just makes the heart grow fonder. Look at Rock, Lesnar, CM Punk, etc.

The only reason for being "missed" within the wrestling business is if you can still draw well on your return. You do get genuine friendships that last the test of time & have no strings attached, but these are the exception, not the norm.

Kurt Angle once said about leaving the WWE to go to TNA "Everyone in the WWE were crying & shaking my hand & pledging their undying love to me, then Pat Patterson took me to one side & said..."You will find out within two weeks who your true friends are around here"
"Within a week of leaving the WWE, the only person who contacted me was Shawn Daivari & within two weeks it had dropped to none because they had sacked Shawn"

I am talking about colleagues within wrestling, not fans. Fans are far more loyal to people in wrestling, than people in wrestling are to each other.

One that seems to be a universal rule: if you, as a fan, step into the ring, expect to be kicked full force in the face.

I guess a forceful spear from a steward is the very least a fan of any sport can expect, if they are stupid enough to go into business for themselves?

  5. Here are couple of examples of what i would describe as "Shithousery" that i have noticed at all levels of wrestling, that never seem to change.

1, When you leave wrestling (not just as a wrestler, but any role within wrestling) you VERY quickly become yesterdays news & any hard work is forgotten about, due to you no longer being in a position to help/be exploited.

2, When an argument breaks out & someone is clearly in the wrong. They must always "babyface" themselves, by lying & manipulating the situation to their advantage. Not only does that create them a helpful false image as a good person, but it can lead the victim to lose their temper with things like frustration & hypocrisy, which is then easier for you, as the villain to vindicate your Shithousery because you have remained a calm & rational person (& a liar).

A great example of this is from Bret Hart's "Wrestling with Shadows" with a very upset Julie Hart (who seemed to see the wrestling business for what it was) coming across quite aggressive towards Triple H, as he calmly lied through his back teeth.

I’ll be staying up. Really looking forward to it. My sister is back in the UK for a bit, she works away most of the time so I don’t see her much. She used to be as big a fight fan as me, if not bigger, but she’s drifted away over the years. She wants to watch this though so she’s stopping at ours Saturday night. My brother might be over as well. The three of us used to watch Boxing on ITV on Saturday nights in the mid 90s, can’t remember the last time we were all together to watch a fight. Probably Lewis vs Tyson or something. So it’ll be like old times. I’m hoping to watch the fight then sneak off to bed before the kids get up. Leave Auntie and Uncle to deal with it.

It's the same for me, these big fights are a great way of spending time with my brother & close friends.

This goes way back to my youth with Bruno v Tyson (1st fight) probably being our first get together. I hope the fight lives up to expectations & you & your family have a really enjoyable night.

  7. I tell who were a brilliant tag team. Ric Flair & Arn Anderson.

it probably does not count because they only did a handful of matches on TV, but worked a lot on house shows together.

They had real chemistry & tagged beautifully, implementing every trick in the book with the referee "missing" each act of villainy.

They take one story and split it into bits and use the quotes as separate stories.

One story becomes 100 each with some terrible comments from some spiteful keyboard warriors.

You could say that about a few people on here! (& before anyone else points it out, i know i have split this story up).

  9. The Sheepherders (original version of Butch Miller & Luke Williams) not Jonathan Boyd/Rip Morgan/Johnny Ace, nor their WWE run as The Bushwhackers.

They travelled the world having exciting brawls with major feuds in Stampede/UWF/NWA/Portland/Texas/Puerto Rico etc. Probably the first established tag team to wrestle exclusively the hardcore style, including classic encounters with The Fantastics in barbed wire cage matches.

  10. I was aware of Paul Sykes prior to this documentary, due to the publicity of his ill fated attempt to win the British Heavyweight Boxing Championship.

When the documentary came out a work colleague said to me "The problem with that chap is that  he thinks the world owes him a living", of which i replied "Shall i put your name forward, as the bloke who is going to tell him that to his face?"

    "Er, No"  he answered! 🤣

  11. Another tip to unblock the bog is to invest in a pack of 18" industrial tie wraps.

They go straight through the blockage & around the ubend, so you just go back & forth until the water drops.

Because you have a full packet, they are disposable! Just sling it out of the toilet window for someone else to deal with!

In a very strange full circle moment, Jim Cornette corrects the Internet on crying about Kevin Dunn:

I listened to this before your link here and would not describe it as "very strange" because Jim does go into great detail & gives a logical explanation as to how he thought the big spot was missed in the filming.

We all know what Cornette is like and yes he does have history with Kevin Dunn (& a LOT of other people in wrestling), but he is capable of giving the Devil his Due if one of his enemies does something good or as in this case falsely accused.  Maybe not to Russo or Trump, but as you go further down his hate list, he does ease off a little.

He's alright. utterly frustrating because when he's on it, he's the best winger in the division. Quick on the break, good crosser, great shots from distance. He's a lazy sod so no use defensively and erratic in his decision making and the quality of his passing and crossing. He's as likely to pass to a defender as he is to put a great cross on a striker's head.

Total mercenary who has wanted away from Hull for years!

Nothing is ever his fault & he only has one foot. For me, he represents everything bad with modern day football.

Some guy has taken pretty much every wrestling video he could find from all promotions and put them into "year in wrestling" chronological playlists. If you've ever wanted to relive, say, 1987 by watching 713 straight videos on autoplay, now's your chance.

Thanks for the heads up! This is amazing!

The Year Reviews go right back to 1950, when i was only a slip of a boy.

Kathy Burke is great, but fucking hell. You've posted the best (recent) pic of her you could find.

That's what she'd look like after 8 pints. This is what you'd wake up to.

It's a fair point that aesthetically Kathy Burke is past her prime. But when she was younger, i genuinely found her attractive.

Funny too! Which i also does it for me 💕💕
