  1. There has always been a sleazy minority within British Wrestling fandom :(

Back in my tape trading days the availability of WOS footage was extremely limited (which was my gap in the market), which led to some very awkward phone conversations on the landline with customers.

I once got a phone call at about 7.00am off a Sunday morning requesting a "compilation tape of big men". Shortly followed by the enquiry in a posh voice "I assume there is a Mrs. Mountevans, Mr. Mountevans?"

Please do not confuse this with homophobia. This was just a weird conversation (one of a handful from different customers over the years) that started off badly & never picked up. I could say that i have gay friends, but people even dislike that talk nowadays. Anyway! I even have been sent photos (if only i had the knowledge to upload them, you lads would all forget about this virus for a while because they are a bit disturbing). There are sleazy people of all sexuality's & trust me, these were dodgy :(

I suppose i best give some indication of the material before someone asks? It was all about male on male domination with all kinds of suggestive movez by dudes in skimpy gear. A bit like that Dave Kidney guy, who's images have cropped up on here.

For me wrestling is not a sexual thing. I can watch the most beautiful people doing their stuff & only see the wrestling. There are plenty of much better options for sleaziness outside of wrestling, if that is your deal?

That's the most I've seen Hawk bump in a single outing.

That's great footage & if you listen to the Cornette Podcast, it is pretty amazing that it even exists with Kayfabe being so strongly upheld back then, as he so often tells you the lengths wrestlers went to, to avoid this kind of thing.

What is less amazing is the amount of premature deaths in wrestling. How did some of them even make it to middle age? Scary stuff :(

And leave HHH's entrances alone or we will really fall out.

Sorry, but he took the Royal Piss out of Sting with the staggering different budgets put into their respective WM entrances (before jobbing him out & patting him on his balding head)...The Cunt.

Genuinely pleased you put that (assuming you meant it?)  i read the post you put about your wife & on the virus thread yesterday, which hit home, along with a tonne of other worryingly similar posts.

I guess in the current climate, it does not matter if Triple H is a cunt? Even he has been denied his over the top, Wrestlemania Entrance ego trip.

Stay Safe and look after yourself Sir. ;)

I'll make sure to tell Hunter next time I see him. I am sure he will be upset.

Also no need to be such a cunt about it, I was merely expressing my opinion on it. Although as you seem to hate this forum so much and make constant remarks to being nominated for Dolt of the Year despite claiming to not be bothered by it I really should not be surprised.

    Have a nice day Bret.

I liked the way you edited that comment to have a dig AFTER i posted my unedited one :D

There are plenty of good people on here & you are correct in that i think the negative side of the UKFF is overly harsh. If i thought it was that bad, i would simply stop posting. The only annoying thing about the Dolt vote, was how few people voted. What is the point of targeting people with a handful of votes, when in my opinion there were not even any decent candidates in the first place (post-Bowler)?

when you've got some power, you have to protect yourself and your spot.

I think you hit the nail on the head here! He may well have been fond of Stephanie (& the benefits of dating a any attractive woman) ... but what better way of climbing up the shit heap & "protecting his spot" than what Triple H did?

As previously mentioned, it is a dangerous tactic because it can "make or break you", but if you, *ahem*..."Play the game" cleverly, you become what he is today.

My personal feeling aside. Does anyone honestly think you can get to the top of any industry that is hugely political, without being a cunt or family or both?

But to claim he doesn't love his wife and is massive cunt based purely on hear say is ridiculous.

Are you suggesting that a wrestler marrying the daughter of most successful promoter ever, has not thought about the huge benefits of being a son-in-law ?

May i politely suggest that the mentality of your average wrestler is to make the very most of every opportunity that arises in their careers & if they can hide acts of self serving, all the better!

This is wrestling not a Mills & Boon novel. If you want to think Triple H's top priority was to marry the love of his life (who by pure coincidence was the promoters daughter) & live happily ever after, without a single selfish thought, then that's up to you. May i also politely suggest that Father Christmas is alive & well & living in Lapland!

Are you suggesting Triple H isn't a cunt? After he turned his back on HBK, Batista, Orton, and countless others?

No! I am suggesting he is a MASSIVE CUNT!!!!!

He simply has to be, to have held the position he has for so many years. Don't get me going with the "falling in love with Stephanie & getting married to become a loving, family man" shite.

It has been suggested that he does not even like Stephanie McMahon! I am of the school of thought, that to get to the top of wrestling/politics/mafia etc etc, you have to be a "certain type of person" or be born into it (or married into it in Triple H's case) & very quickly become "that type of person".

wrestling is an eggregious, cut-throat back-stab industry and you probably need to he a total cunt to survive in that culture.

Could not agree more & to survive is one thing, what about climbing to the top of the shit heap like Triple H has?

What qualities does it take in an industry, where generally speaking the good people come last? :(

i really cant bring myself to go into a supermarket right now, i used to enjoy going in a lot (to buy 3 packs of biscuits and still have change from  £1, probably) but the anxiety of it is just through the roof for me right now, cant even bring myself to go into a local newsagents

Not being preachy Ralphy. But stay at home unless you have no other choice ;)

Loving Ralphy's cracking play on words to cheer us all up... No matter which way you slice it.

I am not suggesting he was clean, but he was reducing the use of something?

She even managed to soak up a bit of sun in the garden today. As her mother was displaying some of the symptoms.

Amazingly sunbathing is one part of the health guidelines to beat the virus!

If only the "hilarious" dude on here who pretended he had some friends around for a barbecue, had bragged about getting the sun beds out. He could have got a rise out of us and been factually correct (well not about having any friends 😂).

Was going to say that. Brilliant match, so great. Wasn't it a iron man or 2/3 falls or something?

It was a 30 minute Iron Man match. McGuiness was all taped up around the shoulders & i think he had a black eye? Super stiff match. Probably one of the best matches that 1PW ever put on? I remember it well & recall thinking to myself how lucky the crowd was to see such a great match :)

  15. That Naz v Kelly fight was something else!

How do fans on here think about a fight like this & most of Nigel Benn's fights, when tactics go out the window & it's just a shoot out, were the biggest bomb wins?

This was a VERY exciting, short fight (6 knock downs in 4 rounds) but are the fighters brave or stupid? I think i prefer a more tactical fight with the bombs coming when they arise, rather than both fighters looking for & forcing opportunities :)

I'm really missing the football as most of my social interaction comes through that. Have to say though, I work a 9-5:30 job, I have a family, I put 20-30 hours a week into the football club, almost 52 weeks a year.

Assuming you are a Hull City fan?

A null & void Championship would provide you with what i thought was impossible... Survival! & a MASSIVE BONUS!!! Dirty Leeds DENIED!!! Surely if this is true, it would take the edge off your frustration? UTT 😽

I mentioned this elsewhere and @Onyx2 (cheers) pointed me in this threads direction. I’m in a bit of a dark place this weekend.

My daughter is 3 and goes to nursery, she’s mint, as is her nursery.
I am a key worker and will be expected to work for as long as I can with our homeless groups in the North East. The typical workshops I run with them have now closed, but my team will be taking out food parcels, essentials etc to the homeless people in question.
Due to being a key worker, it means my daughter can still technically go to nursery. I don’t have family, let alone healthy ones in the region to take over her primary parenting/care. It also obviously means my team aren’t being told to work from home, so no pay outs if I choose to simply not go in, as far as I can tell.

I’m terrified, I won’t lie. I have no fucking clue at this stage what the right thing to do is anymore, my head is utterly battered.
Ideal world while this is all going on:
I lock us both in the house and keep everyone safe. I get paid to be/work at home.
    Reality: The opposite.

    I wish i could offer a solution.

The worrying thing is that everyone is dealt individual problems. Some will profit from the current situation, some will take full advantage of opportunities that arise as times moves on & many will suffer at different points, for many different reasons.

It's scary to think that if you did what you wanted to do, you could end up on the other side of your counter, being homeless &  accepting food parcels!

I guess like a lot of people, all you can do is play it by ear & do what's best for you & your daughter in the short term, hoping the long term solution will become apparent later?

Sorry to hear this, it's put my tale of woe into perspective.

I think at times like these it is important to remember that people are carrying around a large amount of stress and worry. Maybe your wife has been more effected by this than she has let on and the merest chance she could have it has been too much for her to deal with.

The physical attack could be pure panic and needed to lash out. The government guidelines are to isolate the whole house if any one shows any symptoms of the virus so extra caution on her part may be understandable. I don't kmow your financial situation and obviously everyone fears the worst in regards to income so that is a genuine worry. Mentioning the cancelling of mothers day seems a bit crass to me in the wider picture.

I really hope you and your wife resolve this, I would suggest having a open and honest conversation, she may be as confused and hurt as you are.

    Thank you

She is definitely feeling the strain. I think it is a case of just slowly trying to mend bridges between ourselves (her & our son's relationship is more out of my hands).

The Mother's Day comment was just the first thing that came to mind when she decided to immediately contacted her work. I was thinking of all different implications at 100MPH  & that was just one of them. I fully understand about more important nature of doing the right thing. It was just how it came out "in the moment".

  19. I never post a topic on here because of the cliquishness & at times vicious nature around the UKFF (& the fact that i am deemed a "Dolt") but am aware with topics like the "Mental Health" thread, that there are a LOT of good people around here. People who through their love of wrestling genuinely care about folk that they may have never met, but are happy to give out good advice & kind words.

So... Instead of trying to bring back down votes, why not come on this thread to share any problems you have with Social Isolation. Smother people with "Likes" & words of encouragement? "A problem shared, is a problem halved" & all that.

I suppose i best start with my own problem. My wife works in the Health Industry & after discovering symptoms of the virus decided to immediately ring work & self isolate the whole house. The city in which we live has so far only had one case of the virus (as of Friday, i think?). So as she was on the phone waiting to contact a colleague, i tried to point out that at the stage it is unlikely to be anything more than a common cold & that she was effectively cancelling two Mother's Day celebrations & stopping two other people in the house going to work.

I was really concerned about any financial implications of our household because i did not have the full knowledge of the government guidelines towards pay. i.e. We could have all been put on SSP rather than the subsidised pay the government is offering & felt it was something we should at least look into before committing then & there to self isolation? This is when things went from bad to worse.

My wife put her hand in my face & told me to "just shut up", when i tried to point out she was not even taking a few minutes to think about the situation & was acting like this purely on instinct, much to my shock, she physically assaulted me with punches!

We are currently ignoring each other in separate parts of the house & my son (who has a poor relationship with his Mother) has not spoken to her (on Mother's day) of all days. Is a divorce on the cards after this has blown over? I really do not know, but it does not look good :(

So there you go guys & gals. I have laid down my cards. It would be nice if nobody takes the piss, but i reckon that if i can put up with the last two days at home (& the next 12 on isolation) then a bit of "bantz" on here is the least of my troubles.

  20. This was brought up in a recent copy of Viz, but i am interested in what fellow UKFF'ers have to say?

Hope does shit leave skid marks on porcelain that is under water? Think about it! What else works on a shiny surface, under water? Shit is a remarkable substance!
