The likes of Undisputed Era, Sami Callihan and Apollo Crews were rightly blasted because they were not good. Over time, everyone's opinion on Undisputed Era has changed because they've improved.

See, I'm not sure they have. There's not a lot you can do with what Undisputed Era were given in their first couple of months. Go out, lose, run away. Cole, especially got next to no mic time, pretty much until after War Games. That's a guy that was hired partially for how good he was on the stick, not getting to do what he was hired for. My one criticism with UE was that if anything O'Reilly was going too big with the facials and goofy body language. He's dialled it back to somewhere in the middle and been allowed to speak and now he's ’the Performance Centre's biggest success story’. Forget the decade before that, 6 months with Albert and he's golden.

2 months ago, it was 'the War Raiders are shit' after 2 squash matches and a 5 minute match with Heavy Machinery. Now it's ’I don't get the hype with Keith Lee', after 2 50/50 matches with guys who've had no TV time at all!

I'm not coming at this as a huge Keith Lee' fan, I think they've robbed him of about a quarter of his hype by ditching his old (tremendous), indie theme and not letting him rap his own entrance, but I'm saying, give people a little time.

  2. It seems to be the general rule on here that anyone from the Indies gets dismissed as a no mark workrate wanker, either sight unseen or off the basis of their first couple of matches on NXT TV.

Give talent more than 2 five minute TV matches before writing them off or at least have a look at some of their earlier work.

In the case of Undisputed Era for example, it simply took a little time for NXT to present them in the manner they had been elsewhere. Fish and O'Reilly had already been playing the smug prick heels in ROH, long before they were thrown out on TV, with no build as sacrificial lambs for Alistair Black. There's a couple of cracking Fish Tank segments from ROH on YouTube.

It took them best part of 2 years to present Roddy Strong the way he was on the Indies.

I'll admit to a certain degree of bias but it does feel like some people on here, who typically complain about 'Dem Wanz' are just the opposite side of the same coin.

  3. Sorry, I wasn't clear. Whoever wins the Battle Royal gets the shot later in the night. In that sense Punk showing up on TV would drive last minute buys if his first real match was on the PPV.

Like I said it's fanciful, but ROH have been open about wanting him back and Cody's been loud about this being a landmark night.  Him going over Aldis isn't exactly water cooler stuff.

  4. Here's a hare brained theory.

Cabana's in the battle royal at All In to get an ROH title shot. Punk is at All In. The Battle Royal is on free TV. Punk wins the Battle Royal on free TV, costing Cabana the shot at the end. People see Punk on TV buys on the PPV go up and ROH and  New Japan have a big name for MSG.

It's fanciful to the extreme but it'd have everyone losing their shit.

  5. Considering his involvement in the Broken stuff, that Dream/EC3 segment felt like Borash probably had a big old hand in it.

Just watched the Lee/Barthel match. Lee was always gonna get a big push, but Barthel looked excellent on TV. I thought he was fantastic on the Indies but worried if he'd fit in WWE. More than pleasantly surprised.

The trailer for that new Spider-Man game is really disappointing. The graphics look great, and I think the combat will be a lot of fun. But the web swinging physics don't look like they've moved on at all in the last ten years, and the big action set pieces feature those shitty quick time events. Those are inexcusable, lazy and completely ruin a game for me.

Can't defend quick time, but the web swinging system going back 13 years or so is what interests me about this game. If it handles like Spiderman 2, job done. Can't remember enjoying the process of just moving through a game quite as much as that.

Has anybody been having issues with NJ World lagging? Everything was working fine up until Thursday when watching that days show and it was lagging constantly. I've not even been able to load todays show so far.

You using high or low quality? I watch through Edge on the XBox and don't even entertain HQ.

  8. I was looking for a wrestling management game to play on my phone last week. I used to lose hours on Extreme Warfare Revenge but I never made the switch to TEW.

Anyhow I've found Journey of Wrestling which is a browser based take on EWR but kind of stripped down. I've lost a fair few hours already, although it still feels like a work in progress.

    Anyone else played it?

  9. The fact that Gunn, a man who made Super and a bunch of Troma movies, lasted this long in that environment without someone bringing up concerns is as news worthy to me as how spurious his dismissal was.

Both Aquaman and Shazam look like FUN has been very much the studio mandate. Although saying that Aquaman does look very Thor.

  10. Just got finished with a couple of games of Luchador! Mexican Wrestling Dice with my little one. It's essentially Lucha Yahtzee. Dead easy to play with the basic rules but there's advanced rules that give the characters unique play styles and strengths and weaknesses as well as match types. There are also rules regarding title shots if you're party playing.

Functionally good looking art and it comes with it's own wrestling ring which adds to the gimmick.

    Decent little purchase.

  11. If you look he's using the soft part of his inner arm and spreading the impact across the whole chest. There's no boney contact. It's a very slappy strike hence the ripples. It's actually a lovely piece of work when you consider that he made sure there was a camera there to see how much of a monster he is.

Also, we've got a whole thread dedicated to eulogising one of wrestling biggest potato merchants and we're criticising Walter for hitting hard.? It's always existed. Were Hanson, Brody, Vader, Dynamite Kid and the Steiners shit workers? I'll guarantee that they all hurt guys FAR worse than this picture.

No doubt that's a great picture. However the art of wrestling is to not hurt each other. In that sense this is just fucking stupid.

Art, like anything is subjective and dictated by the interplay between the artists and the audience. There is an audience for this style of wrestling as well as a healthy amount of wrestlers who enjoy working that style.

Jericho was quoted recently as saying that to him wrestling should be stiff so long as it's safe and Regal had a reputation for hitting hard but knowing where and how to do so.

I've got no problem with how Walter works, neither seemingly do his opponents or his promoters or he wouldn't currently be one of the busiest guys in wrestling.

Big shout out to the five guys who let me tag along with them yesterday. Was totally lost and ended up chilling with them before the show. This is why I love wrestling.

There's a chance that could be me and my mates!

  14. Heard Ospreay say he'd made £500 just on chopping lads, and that was about 5 minutes before the end of Intermission!

I enjoyed pretty much everything. They have bungled White somewhat, but Jesus, that better not be the gimmick Oka has from now on! Brutal.

  15. I've really enjoyed the matches of Shirai's that I've seen. They have been big old epic 20 minute long Japanese main events. I don't know how that's going to translate to sub 10 minute WWE matches mind you. Also she doesn't seem to have an identifiable hook like Asuka (What if Minoru Suzuki was a hot lady?) or Kairi Sane (Cute Pirate, ridiculous elbow drop.).

  16. I can heartily recommend Rhino Hero and Rhino Hero Super Battle for anyone looking for a cool game for the young ones.

They're both card stacking games of varying degrees of complexity but my four year old daughter and my 42 year old gaming buddy enjoy both.

I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier but The Resistance and it's various off shoots are very good games for identifying which of your friends are terrifying sociopaths.

  17. I'd get a VHS of PPV's from a mate either on Monday or Tuesday after college. No-one in our A Level group liked wrestling so nothing ever got spoiled.

I got this one on a Monday. My Mam went out on Monday nights and my Dad would watch shows with me, chiefly to take the piss. I can't remember much from the card at all and wasn't interested in either Undertaker or Mankind at the time.

The moment Foley climbed the Cell I called my Dad from the kitchen because I knew I was going to see SOMETHING, I just didn't think I'd see the plummet.

The second Taker grabs Foley I just started mumbling 'nah' then 'no' a bit louder before shouting 'WHAT!?'. When Foley went through the table I heard my Dad mutter 'Fucking Hell.......'

I can't remember hearing my Dad swear again until I dropped out of uni 3 years later.

Yeah, liked the Amir Jordan vs Connors match as well. Says something for Jordan that he was likeable enough that I could ignore how boring Connors is.
