  1. Danielson seeded that finish after Forbidden Door. He did an interview where he talked about that Tiger Driver being a move that maybe had too much of a cost and was too dangerous. I've got no doubt in my mind that he had that finish in mind back then!

  2. Just now, Gus Mears said:

Mrs Mears passed her driving test today. Very proud, especially as she's in her 30's and from foreign lands without roundabouts.

Also it's incredible that she could concentrate so well, with the grief being so fresh.

I watched one episode as I loved the original and it was really fun. I'm not sure if I'll watch the entire series, not because its bad, far from it, its just I'm not really that interested anymore.

Also, maybe this is just me and because I only know maybe 3 X-Men storyline, but I am sure I've seen this specific story told a million times over. Not necessarily a complaint as someone might be watching for the first time, so I get it.

Gambit was always the best. Glad to see he still is.

They're telling a lot of story, with threads coming from all over, but yeah X-Men is X-Men so certain things are gonna recur. Even the comics which are just finishing a 5 year arc that started wildly experimentally have reset in much the same way as this episode.

If your kids are the right age, I'd say use them as an excuse to give the series a go. If nothing else it'll be a pretty quick watch. Mine's hooked now.

  4. It's not been mentioned here, but X-Men 97 has been excellent. I've just watched this week's episode and it's one of the best examples of the form in years. It's tropey as fuck but Jesus they've mined every bit of drama they can and it's a proper gut punch.

Miles ahead of the original series.

This episode also had a great Dustin promo. He never said “bonny lad” and he has zero chance of winning the title but it was great nonetheless.

The thought of Dustin's sleepy eyes looking down the camera as he drawls, "I'm like a hunny badga, I'll rip yeh bastad face off!", doesn't fill me with the same kind of joy.

Danielson v. Japanese wrestling sensation Yoshihiko. Best way to break the internet after this.

If you think at least one fat middle aged man wouldn't absolutely be there for that, I can assure you, you'd be wrong.

Aldi have there own Snyders Pretzel pieces rip off now. Not tried them yet but it's hard to fuck this formula up.

They have Jalapeno and Honey & Mustard flavours. They are 10p more than Crackzels at 85p but you get 125g compared to Crackzels 85g.

    https://groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/p-snackrite-jalapeno-flavour-pretzel-pieces-125g/4088600486895

Had the jalapeno ones a few weeks ago. A bit kinder on the palette than Snyder's and with a more 'bready' flavour. The bag disappeared fairly quickly, mostly because my daughter was nicking them as well, which she doesn't do with Snyder's.

The original Chinese version is free on YouTube and it's an official upload, I've been enjoying it.

Class. It's on Amazon but under a really sneaky model where every few episodes you have to pay, which is a bit shit.

  9. Enjoyed 3 Body Problem on Netflix enough that I've started on the novel.

After that I was in the mood for more glossy sci-fi, so I started For All Mankind last night. Really fun alt history stuff. I've not really binged anything in a good while, so I'm looking forward to a good 40 episodes.

  10. I thought that was simultaneously a banging episode of television and a relative disappointment.

Okada is going to struggle as a weekly TV wrestler relative to the level of reputation he has. I thought the match with Kingston was good, but so much of Okada's reputation is based on having 40 minute epics on mammoth NJPW PPV's or during the G1 when basically every show is a PPV, that I do think he'll suffer on TV. Omega had a similar problem but it was mitigated  by his stuff being flashier than Okada's. The problem for Okada is he's come in at the same time as Osprey who can do a mad sprint on telly and seems to have hypnotised America with his weird chirpy Essex Lad bravado.

Mercedes remains a dodgy promo.Hopefully they're building up to heel Mercedes Vs Uber Baby Face Willow. It's the closest thing to Sasha Vs Bayley in NXT that they could possibly do.

Cope Vs Cage was a hoot although I'm not sure that your baby face handcuffing your heel to a corner, repeatedly kicking him in the balls and then wellying him in the downstairs business with a spiked spanking paddle is a great look. Mad fun though.

  11. I went absolutely ham on the Comixology Originals on Prime recently.

They've curated a really solid line of mini series. My favourite is a series called Barnstormers. It's written by Scott Snyder and is a take on Bonny and Clyde but with stunt flyers. The art is so beautiful that I'm tempted to get the physical book.

Otherwise, I've got all the Energon relaunch stuff. It's all very good if not majorly decompressed, but that's modern comics for you.

  12. As someone who left the North East 25 years ago and hasn't lost the accent, Pac's commitment to being absolutely as Geordie as possible in promo's is one of the main reasons that he remains my favourite character in wrestling.

When he said 'I NEARLY POPPED ME CLOGS!!!', in his return vignette I nearly shat myself laughing.

  13. I only discovered these a couple of years ago but they've got new stuff coming out and thus I'm revisiting this. It's not a perfect album but it straddles the line between punk and indie rock perfectly.

Mannequin Pussy are one of those bands who's name I see about all the time but never actually checked out. So with them releasing a new record on Friday, I thought it would be a great opportunity to give them a go.

What an album to start with! A noisy and energetic mix of HAIM and Pixies. It's not too soft for people who like hardcore music, and not too noisy for people who don't like heavier music. It straddles all the lines perfectly and while it encompasses a lot of different sounds, they all fit together really well and nothing outstays its welcome. I'll definitely be going through their back catalogue off the strength of this.

FFO: Pixies, HAIM, Hop Along, Bully

    Lee's Rating: 4 THUMBS UP

I agree on Mannequin Pussy as well. Really good. My daughter's starting to spread her wings when it comes to music and has decided that The Last Dinner Party are 'Her Nirvana' as it were. I was ready to play her that new MP album to see what she thought of that until my wife pointed out that: a) The Album's a bit filthy. B) My daughter is 10. C) The band are called Mannequin Pussy.

Judas is definitely over. Jericho definitely isn't. The only reactions he gets at the moment are apathy or hatred.

I might post more thoughts later but my favourite non-Sting moment of the night was during Ospreay/Takeshita when Ospreay was in the middle of setting up a big move and as he turned his back Takeshita effortlessly shot his arm band off and then clotheslined the shite out of him. Epic.

Was that the clothesline where it looked like they'd turned on the ragdoll physics on Ospreay? Because if it was that was one of the best things I've  ever seen!

  15. The hubbub over The Crow remake is fucking ridiculous. I loved the original when I was 16, but it's aged terribly, bears little relation to it's source material and pretty much exists solely as an awkward memorial to Brandon Lee.

Does Skarsgard look a bit weird to me, a 43 year old man and not a moody teenager? Yes Garth. How does he look to the film's target market? Dunno Garth, ask the Goth kids down the park.

One thing I do know is that Alex Proyas can fuck right off. Imagine mocking someone else's film when the last thing you did of consequence was Gods of Egypt. Get to fuck!

  16. Other way round but Peter Beardsley nearly killed me gunning his BMW at ridiculous speeds in my college car park.

It was when he was at Hartlepool and they used to use our sports facilities instead of an actual training facility.

I mean playing devil's advocate I can't blame him, I was in a hurry to get out of Peterlee as well.

    Are Turnstile any good ?

Literally only know “Mystery”,  i like it. Any of their other stuff worth checking out ?

They're pretty good. The last album is great and obviously really accessible but I'd second the recommendation of Time and Space.

  18. Had everyone else just fucked off home and big Wes, being a consummate worker knew enough to hang out backstage with his gear, just in case?

Interesting to see some of the female Gladiators display some heel tendencies this week. Sabre could be a good baddie going forward.

Don't turn Fury though, she's far too wholesome!

Just been. A very good film, although the Ric Flair casting was shite, and I also have difficulty with them cutting out Chris. I get the whole running time thing, but this seems a bit harsh, given how tragic he was as well.

Mind you, the friend I went with is a civilian, and he found it unrelentingly depressing, and couldn't believe it when I mentioned afterwards that they'd missed out Chris and their uncle. So maybe they just thought it would be just too much for the audience, emotionally speaking.

David's daughter as well from what I understand.

You'd need a season of TV to fully dramatise the Von Erich's/ World Class in the 80's but when you factor in everything else with Gino Hernandez amongst other things that's a relentlessly downbeat proposition.
