  1. For the amount of sheer enjoyment I got from it, maybe a copy of Smackdown 2 on the PS1. I can't think of any other present that I got so much fun from. Added to that, it was really the thing that introduced me to the WWF and wrestling as a whole.

More recently, I got given a notebook made from an original 1950's map of an area I love. One of those presents that doesn't sound much but has a lot of meaning behind it for me.

The person who gave me Smackdown would've never known how much of an impact that would go onto make. It was essentially just another PS game but one that would introduce me to a lifelong hobby.

It makes you wonder whether you've ever influenced somebody's life so much with a simple gesture that you'd have no idea about.

  2. Stretching it a bit no doubt but pink suit Mark Henry. I think he had most of us worked for an angle where 99% of the time we're expecting exactly what happened.

A couple of shit ones by your standards but my film knowledge is naff compared to you lot. Jack Nicholson in The Departed and whoever played Chuck in Better Call Saul are two that spring to mind.

There's good acting when you realise the actors you're watching are great but I think the best performances are when you totally forget you're watching an actor and just fall for the performance. The two I mentioned did just that for me. Wasn't until after or second viewing that I could appreciate it.

  3. I had a UKFF'ers dream not long back. Started seeing someone recently and the first night I stayed over I began to need a shit. It wasn't an 'it'll wait til the morning' shit either, the warnings were ominous.

Now, events of a year or two ago still hold strong, and they reminded Steaky that I best not try and clinch it through the evening. My temperature was beginning to rise and I was becoming noticeably distracted. Her bathroom not only sits directly opposite her bedroom, but as she is in the process of renovating the house, there isn't a door on either room.

    My options were diminishing rapidly.

I told her that I really needed the toilet but I get bad stage fright when people are near. She then said one of the best things I've ever heard, that she had an outside toilet!

A fucking outside toilet! Not a little bucket in the ground, but an actual fully functioning toilet in an outside room.

We've since become rather serious and I've yet to take a shit while she's in the house. I take many a happy shit in what I happily call my office, and it's a great place to read the forum from.

Every genre should stick to 90 minutes. If your film is any longer than that then it had better be fucking great.

Most of my favourite films are pushing 3 hours or more, but I couldn't agree more with this. Most average/good 2-hour films would be better having 20 or 30 minutes cut off them. It's got to be a great film to justify going 2-3 hours.

Some of the TV shows over the past few years have shown how much you can achieve in under one hour. I'd be all for cutting most films down to 90 mins.

  5. Anyone got any good tips to share for how to make a nice hollandaise sauce? Made it for the first time this morning with some salmon and eggs and it was okay, but definitely missing some flavour. Looked good, tasted average.

Made it with four egg yolks, 125g melted butter, salt, pepper, squeeze of lemon juice and a splash of vinegar?

  6. I know I'm in the minority here but I'm more excited about this than anything since WM30, aside from perhaps Goldberg. At least Heyman and Bischoff will have a clear idea of what they want and will be willing to stand up and defend their ideas.

Also, one of the reasons WWE has been so stale for the past few years is because there's been no 'characters' that you can get behind. I'd imagine these two will focus on creating some character development again.

  7. Okay, I'm getting pretty frustrated here. Decided to give Pokemon Go another whirl and I'm trying to level up some of my critters. Apparently I can Power Up using stardust or candy. It allows me to power up using the stardust but won't let me power up using the candy. I.e I've got 5 Squirtle candy and it says it only costs 1 to power up, but if I click to power up it just says 'Need more stardust'. I thought the whole point of getting more candy was that it's more efficient to power up that way?

Sorry for bumping the thread for such a stupid issue.

  8. Anyone who thinks trading frequently on Bitcoin is a good idea needs their heads testing. It's really no different from red or black on roulette. Actually, it is. Something like 70% of traders lose money (and probably more on crypto) so your odds are much worse than the coin toss scenario MPDTT mentioned.

My Grandad has just got into 'investing' over the past couple of years and claims he's making big returns. I suggest he takes his results to one of the big banks and land himself a six-figure salary and an expense account because he's outperforming the best legitimate financial investors in the world.

I read a little bit more about Facebook's new cryptocurrency. Apparently there are 1.7 billion people without access to basic banking. I don't know whether this includes children because the number seems sky high, but I've not seen any breakdown of the 1.7b people and who it actually includes. Either way, there are millions of people who could benefit from a legitimate cryptocurrency that they can access from anywhere in the world. It obviously brings into question how they'd access it and how literate someone would need to be to use it, but incrementally it could be a huge leap forward for taking people out of poverty over the next few decades.

There are a lot of variables and complexities to such a task, and I know very little, but I wouldn't like to think a big data company with such a poor history of how it uses its data will be the one to have the control over it. Unfortunately, however, there'll be a million loopholes a company like Facebook can work through and if they want to launch it, they will.

I do think cyrptocurrency lacks any real tangible value for it to be accepted as a stable globally-recognised form of payment, and I think it would have to be more of a 'digital currency' rather than a cyrptocurrency. For instance, if Facebook does launch Libra, they should guarantee each coin will be worth at least 0.25USD, for instance, which would A) mean it is always worth something, and B) would help stop it from rising in value too quickly like the last Bitcoin bubble did.

This is just my quick thoughts on it and it's obviously open to criticism but if we're going to salvage a cryptocurrency thread, we may as well be talking about stuff like this.

  9. I remember in the middle of a binge I once cut the bottom of a sofa open to get the money that had fallen into it. There was also a pair of nail scissors, a lighter that didn't work and one of MPDTT's lost Bitcoins.

The question you ask is how can you predict wherr a coin goes next. It's not coin toss - technical analysis of charts can predict to varying degrees of accuracy which coins will go up and which will go down

Here's the thing though - it is a coin toss. There's only ever a 50% chance of which way it will go next. And that's not accounting for the fees you pay on an exchange. So you're always going to be starting against the odds. Trying to make money from quick trades on any currency is nothing more than a glorified version of playing red or black on a slot machine, unless you're one of the less than 1% who really know their stuff. And really, the few experts who do know what they're doing will be investing in more legitimate places.

I'm not saying it's not possible to make money on Bitcoin - of course it is - you can give a chimpanzee a coin to flip and one person can go with its coin toss result and the other against it - one of the two people will win money.

People can try and analyse and look into data and the latest news and do as much research as they like, but at the end of the day, if it was as easy as that then everybody would be doing it. Investing (and I use the word extremely loosely), on cryptocurrencies should be seen as nothing more than a bit of fun and something to talk about with your mates. The days of making big bank on Bitcoin are over, unless you're willing to risk an insane amount of money, or hold onto it in the hope that it will someday reach $100K per Bitcoin or something mad.

There are a few things you can look at to give you a sense of knowledge on your next trade, but for every article saying that Bitcoin will rise, there'll be an equal amount saying it's going to fall.

Again, I'm not saying to not get into it and that you can't make money but it is just a glorified coin toss at the end of the day.

If you're looking to try your hand in Bitcoin, the best thing to do is to stick whatever you can afford to lose into it and ignore any charts or news updates for a year - and see whether you've made anything after 12 months.

If you're looking to make money by investing, you should be looking 20+ years and be putting your money in something like a lifetime ISA or tracking a fund.

  11. A little early to be spider season yet? I hope so anyway. I've seen a couple of smaller ones on the kitchen floor but I'm hoping we've still got a while til the end-of-summer invasions start.

  12. I'm optimistic about the future of Bitcoin and think it should be seen as more than something to win some money on. It could genuinely help millions of people in places in Asia and Africa who don't have the same access to everyday financial services as we do.

The real talking point in this thread should be whether or not Facebook should be allowed to launch its own cryptocurrency. Of course the answer is no, so it negates any need for any discussion on it tbh.
