  1. Regardless of what happens at the show, what the card is etc, this thread over the last few days has been an absolute joy to read and I sincerely hope you all have the best time. It's nice to read positivity and just see everyone super excited for the same event rather than sniping and tribalism. Have a good one, folks!

  2. This one hits as hard as Eddie's passing, if I'm honest. Just an absolute shock and gut punch that I've been thinking about all day.

I opened twitter at 7am this morning and it was the first thing I saw within minutes of HHH posting. Just an absolute shock and as others have mentioned, even more so with him being so young with young children.

  3. Edge has always been, quite possibly, my favourite of all time. Not saying he's the best of all time, but definitely my favourite of all time. If that's it, then I'll be gutted to be honest as his return run has been a bit lacklustre to say the least, BUT, at least he got a return run and his final match wasn't Alberto Del Rio.

All this talk of Edge to AEW is bollocks as well, surely? Imagine taking Christian away from the tremendous heel stuff he's been doing to have a 10 minute nostalgia run where they can't even be called Edge and Christian. Plus no doubt within a month, a TLC would be booked with Jeff and Matt that would likely kill Jeff off for good.

  4. It's not very often that 'celebrity' or sportspersons deaths affect me too much, but being a Wednesday fan of a certain vintage, both Tricky Trev and the Bartman were a big part of my youth and early days as a Wednesday fan. Without Trev, we Wednesday fans wouldn't have too much glory to cling on to and throw across the city at our noisy neighbours and Bart-Williams was fantastic value to watch at games.

    Both will be sorely missed.

  5. I am 100% all in on Jey being the one to take Romans title. I wanted Sami to win, I wanted Cody to win, but Jey really feels like he SHOULD win. He started the storyline, he should finish it.

Looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning, with people having seen Punk’s promo, and moaning that he “hasn’t changed”, and complaining about the subtle/not subtle mentions The Elite. Meanwhile if he hadn’t, chances are those same people would be calling him out for towing the line and not being the “voice of the voiceless” he’s always claimed to be.

At least wait for it to happen before complaining about it.

  7. From a fantastic episode of Dynamite to a stunning episode of Smackdown, anyone still banging the AEW or WWE drum like it's a football derby needs to get a grip of themselves and enjoy the ride. We really are living in a brilliant time for wrestling, factor in Impact and ROH and how could you not just have a good time?

  8. Zack Sabre Jr may be a very good wrestler, but I cannot fucking stand listening to him talk. He's in the same vein as Ospreay in that they both try so hard to be the 'Hard man cockney' that Charlie Hunnam pulls the accent off better.

Also, I'm not an NJPW watcher so it's the first time I've seen that belt on TV, but that is fucking awful. Looks like he's just served up a load of sandwiches and is carrying around the tray.

..as for Jamie Hayter I think they should have done more with her she hasn't really done much since she won the belt which is a shame because she a great performer

This is a problem that seems to happen a lot for AEW. They build someone up phenomenally, to the point the crowd are screaming for them to win a title, then they win it and then nothing happens or they have a flat reign. You cannot knock the build, they know how to build a challenger brilliantly, but its maintaining it thats the struggle. Other than OC, I cant think of anyone else who has maintained their appeal (maybe the wrong word) after winning the title. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me how wrong I am and it is probably all subjective, but for me off the top of my head, there has been Wardlow, MJF (Currently, there's time yet), Hayter, Hangman, Jade*, Hobbs and others.

*Little different for Jade maybe as shes lost a lot of steam by just doing the same thing over and over for what seems like forever to the point that I think whoever beats her, won't get the rub that they could have had a few months ago.

EDIT: Also, I'm all for Wardlow linking back up with MJF, just a great double act.

  10. I had no hope for Trick when he first started out with Carmelo, I thought the act would split apart and Trick would disappear. Now though, he's great, really enjoy his stuff, still a bit of work to do, but he definitely has something about him. More than just a henchman.

Actually, from a WWE perspective - this still gives me the chills. What a reaction.

This is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title. The amount of times I have gone back and watched this match from start to finish over the years is ridiculous. What a great bit of entertainment, the whole way through and even more so when you learn that Daniel Bryan was concussed and pretty much out on his feet. Best thing Wyatt has ever been involved in.
