  1. The allegations should have been the absolute first thing addressed at the presser. Sitting waiting for the inevitable question to come probably made everything a lot worse. Khan trying to play the lovable goof in a funny hat during the Storm section while Storm plays for comic relief was fun in isolation, but there was still a very awkward tension of waiting for the question to arrive.

The fact it arrived whilst Julia was on the stage was the perfect moment for the question to be asked, however it should never have gotten to the point of being 20 mins in and still waiting for the question, it should have been directly addressed off the bat. Whether that was a politicians 'I will not speak on the rumours' or a full statement, something should have been done off the bat.

As soon as the question arrived, he should have taken the bonnet and specs straight off and given a serious answer like he actually gave a fuck.

In regard the comments about 'safest place in wrestling', a place where the owner feared for his life 5 months ago and there has been multiple fights in the last 12 months is completely laughable.

There is truth in this, and probably where he needed to be a little wiser.

I wonder if there's a proper PR person at AEW, as they're the little details they'd iron out.

The PR guy is the one that ran up to the table and took the hat and specs off of him. If anything, he should have done that a LOT sooner.

  3. Joe was fantastic in the presser afterwards. Just an absolutely top bloke who is rightly where he should be. He was thrown a question about being left out and being a commentator in WWE and instead of taking a swing and a jab at the opposition, he decided to use the opportunity to advise people to ensure they are taking time to heal their injuries etc.

Mega pleased that they have actually given him the big one and hopefully he gets a good run with it.

No idea where they go from here with the Cole and co now that it looks like MJF is taking time off. Surely you can't turn Bullet Club Gold face just yet, especially as they haven't really referenced the beat down since it happened. Alternatively, if they start fannying around with The Acclaimed, the midcard is calling, and it'll be difficult to keep them hot enough (debatable as to whether they are hot right now) and there won't be much clamour for MJF to get his revenge upon return.

Another thing about the presser afterwards, surely it's time to knock them on the head? From Punk and his muffins, to Tony discussing serious allegations while dressed in a funny hat and glasses, they don't really benefit the company as a whole.

  4. I have no clue what so ever when it comes to NDA's, but at what point does an NDA become null and void, if ever? If, for example, this is all true and now it's all out there for the world to see and read, does that make the NDA not worth the paper it's written on?

Genuine question as I can imagine if it is true, poor Kylie Rae is in a fucking awful position now if the NDA is still in effect and can't actually discuss it.

    Alleged NDA, I might add.

    • Miro vs. Andrade El Idolo

This should be a 'winner gets released' match, they would put some serious effort in. In all seriousness, this has the potential to be either and absolute belter or a stinker, either way, it'll be interesting to see.

  6. Not being into British Wrestling the last few years, I don't know a huge amount about the scene anymore so hadn't heard of Mad Kurt until the news broke, however the outpouring of love from all corners of the wrestling world, the clips and moments that have been shared along with the hilarious trolling of Austin Aries and EC3 just shows what an absolute talent has been lost.

26 is no age at all and I send my best wishes and condolences to his friends and family.

What plot holes? At this moment without any reveals I don't see them.

The exact ones in Daz' post. I know you're a heck of a lot more positive than most when it comes to AEW here, Scorch, but even you must admit that this storyline is shite and doesn't make much sense on the whole.

EDIT: The frustrating thing is that once again, this was a very good show, but most of the talk is about this shitty Devil storyline. Not Mox / Kingston as it should be.

I'd actually go so far as to give Tony the benefit of the doubt and say that it isn't him that's booking this. It seems quite far removed from his usual booking style.

  8. The only way out of it that would explain the admin issues (Which would be utterly shite I might add) would be for Tony Khan to be involved somehow to get involved as a way of trying to get the belt off MJF before the whole 'Bidding war of 2024' kicks off. It's bollocks, would be shite, but would at least explain some of the plot holes.

  9. The discourse over on twitter because the crowd chanted 'You still got it' is absolutely hilarious. That crowd will be 90% Dad's who probably haven't watched for 10 years taking their kids to their first show as a Christmas present. They won't have a clue what Punks done over the last few years.

  10. Matthew Lillard would possibly be my pick for this. Absolutely no idea why I like him, but if he's in a film, I'll often check it out. Without A Paddle is still brilliant Sunday afternoon hangover viewing that you can watch with the kids. 13 Ghosts as well, just not to watch with the kids.

Seems like a good egg too.

EDIT: Speaking of Without a Paddle, throw in Dax Shepherd too, another one that seems like a good egg.

Miro, Malakai Black and Andrade didn't jump ship. They were all sacked! They don't count!

Black maybe not, but Andrade and Miro were both pestering for their release upon the sudden rise of AEW. I would say those two definitely count.

Jeff Hardy getting himself fired to join his brother in AEW, followed by legal issues and now moaning about his position on a podcast is definitely up there.

Quite.  He’s said in a recent interview that he’s been suffering from double vision, but he’s stabbing himself in unhealed scar tissue with a dirty blade and getting someone to knee him in the face, and we fans are going “what a worker, MOTY”.

We might be part of the problem.

Edit: not to absolve myself here, if Hulk Hogan dragged his crippled carcass back into the ring for one more match at the age of 70, I’d be all for it.

Which is fair enough, but you've quoted people that haven't said anything of the sort regarding what you've posted above. I for one, never mentioned anything in your quoted post, my post was aimed at the posts saying Omega is one of the 'Only good in Japan' types. Nothing to do with braining himself.

  13. What an absolutely bonkers few pages. Omega is one of the only people that I had heard a lot about, hyped to shit my most corners of the internet yet I had absolutely no experience with until AEW started, that I 100% understood and agreed with the hype. He is brilliant when he switches it on. One dud promo does not a bad wrestler make.

  14. I'm not sure how long it will last, but Punk seems genuinely happy to be in WWE. What a sentence to write. It's almost like that was his main goal all along, good on him and I hope it works out. So far, best decision all round.

    Spoiler

He has just popped up in NXT and there's a video of him backstage before he goes out and he is beaming. Seems to be just having a good time.

  15. The problem AEW has, is the exact opposite of what WWE have, in that there doesn't seem to be much middle ground in terms of the fan base. You've got your die hards who pick apart everything to explain little hints and 'lore' in matches and storylines down the most minute detail that is more than likely just coincidence, to the other end of the scale where people pick apart everything to do the exact opposite and say how things are missing, nothing is explained etc.

Instead of, you know, just enjoying it for what it is...a 2 hour variety show that will have bits you like and bits you probably don't like.

WWE have the opposite in that people are just happy the product has improved from the dull as fuck shit storylines so nothing gets too heavily praised or criticised.

    Basically, there's no winning.

  16. Of course Danielson was involved in the decision, he's Tony's right hand man and I can imagine, I trusted and level headed member of the locker room, why would you not ask for his (or someone from the locker room) to have a say in something that would affect the whole locker room?

The faux outrage to the 'revelation' is completely laughable. Also hilarious that it's come out now, Fightful must be itching for those clicks.
