  1. In regards to EBB, it is more how he says things than what he says.

For example, at a MMA event in 2006 they asked him how he would do in a MMA bout. Now he is not going to say he would get destroyed is he, but instead of saying "I think I could do well" or "I would have the striking advantage" instead he said "I will knock them all out"

It does not bother me any, I like his confidence, but others really do not. Plus, I get told often of stories where he acts up his own arse to people and acts like a drama queen, could be bullshit but I have heard a lot of stuff.

The confidence and 'arrogance' is the same as that displayed by the likes of David Haye, Ali, Mayorga, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather and others though, isn't it? I honestly believe that the reason Khan gets shit for it, and that Hamed got shit for it, especially in the UK, is because they're of Asian descent.

There's an element of racism involved that we don't see with other white or black fighters I believe.

maybe in some areas, wouldnt say so round my way. Ive heard people call him a "paki" but these are the same people who call all Asians in the UK that. Everyone seemed to love Khan when he was a humble young man on ITV, slowly people turned on him as he got cockier and cockier, and after he moved to Sky Box Office (a HUGE mistake on his teams part, commanding that much money for commonwealth title fights or whatever it was) and got KOed, thats when I noticed the hate for him.

Fair play, guys like David Haye are cocky, but he also doesn't come across as an inarticulate little boy when he is. "i earn more moneyz than you ever will lol" and all the other fucking stupid twitter posts, off the cuff comments he's made make him seem like a stuck up teenager...

its harsh of Froch to say he'd retire in Khan's shoes, but he didnt look special against Mcloskey (who just lost to an old DeMarcus Corley), was holding on for dear life with Maidana, and took a bit of a beating for a while there against Peterson. Add the Prescott KO (and we have to admit, even if it was before he teamed up with Roach that was BAD), Gomez knockdown, and him being pretty much saved against Willie Limond, its plain to see he's never going to be a top P4Per. Hes still young, yes, but he has a lot of mileage for his age I would say, and if I was in his position, I'd have a serious think about my future.

  2. No power? He's got eighteen knock outs in twenty six fights, and has put away guys like Judah and Malignaggi which isn't too shabby. To say he has no power is pretty ridiculous. As for his fight with Limond, anyone with a decent set of eyeballs can see that he's a completely different fighter from the twenty year old kid who fought Limond five years ago.

Khan still shows some of the very same mistakes he used to make back as a kid in the ITV days. Did you actually follow his fights? he wasn't knocking guys out cold, he was overwhelming them with fast flurries, it will only get you so far. Who has he KOed, bar Judah (and even then, to some it was controversial)

see, i don't personally see the cockiness or arrogance? Khan's confident and says a few things in camps (for eg. he guaranteed he's knock out Garcia) but i just don't see it.

Despite his fame i've always thought he's stayed fairly grounded.

You serious? the guys so far up his own arse, he's also a totally childish attention seeker, and although I know most boxers ae full of themselves to an extent, they arent all as retarded as Khan with there statements.

To quote a poster over at ESB, Khan is like Theo Walcott. "Both had lots of promise very young but never developed beyond the core attributes that brought them to public attention (speed and marketability). Both over-managed and not sufficiently humble to take a step back and relearn technique"

  3. he hasnt got a glass jaw, but he is certainly very vulnerable in the ring. No intelligence, either... to me he has actually regressed since the Judah win. You can tell he badly wants to be a brawler, but he just doesn't have it in him. Huge heart, but when hes going around calling himself a superstar, and that he would beat Floyd makes him look like an utter prick after getting TKOed by Garcia. I think he lacks the power to be elite, maybe "no power" was a wee bit harsh, but he doesn't possess true KO power, and I think its something that will become more and more evident in future. A lot of people are just going to walk through him now, unless he makes some major changes. I think he can come back, pick up another title or two.... but I can definitely see him getting hurt again, probably even KOed by the end of his career. He wasnt just csaught cold by Garcia, he was beaten up in those last rounds. Wasnt nice to see, and I cant see his punch resistance getting any better either.

  4. Amir Khan however is due a backlash. The casual fans in this country will never let him forget the Prescott KO and now they got more ammunition. They won't see the absolute classics that Khan's been involved with (Maidana, Peterson, Garcia), they won't see the heart the guy has to fight, they'll just see that he got dropped and they'll love it. Khan was looking good last night and simply got caught, his defences let him down again, he always seems to ship massive shots. The first shot destroyed him he tried getting back into it but his legs were gone. The 4th round was as gripping a round of boxing you'll see all year, Khan's instincts let him down again, he tried going punch for punch with Garcia and finally it caught up with him.

Max Kellerman summed it up perfectly at the end and said Amir Khan is great for boxing, never a dull moment and that's what the fans want...fuck the haters.

As for the future, surely it's time for Kell Brook/Amir Khan? It makes perfect senes to me!

thats a good idea, i think hes a evel above brook, and hes doing record numbers on sky so i dont see why not.

So much talk of Khan not having a good chin again. Not true at all for me but he's got much bigger problems.

you think he has a good chin?? Khan's always going to be fast and explosive, but he willl be found out time and time again. he needs to stop pretending hes floyd mayweather, and look at the task at hand.

All this talk of Khan's career being over and he should retire (Froch.. twat) is ridiculous. Remember Pacquiao was about 26 when he started his run of dominance. I still see a very bright career for Khan, he just needs to sort his defence out because his attack is pretty much spot on.

no power, no inside game, i dont think he can just slap on a better defence and miraculously be a better fighter. hes world class, but hes no elite... willie limond should have KOed him ffs.

  5. Fury's already a top ten HW, pretty much, Price would be a step backwards in several ways. High risk, low reward, he just needs to start fighting guys like Maurice Harris or Jonathan Banks, they were apparently trying to get Mormeck for his last fight so that would be a good scalp.

  6. Fury's beginning to really impress me, he fights tall now for a start, he looks in reasonable condition, and despite Maddalone being shite, he was good enough for Adamek a year or so ago. Im in two minds wether they should move Tyson quickly or not, but even his uncle seemed to hint at waiting a while, and despie the press and call outs, Fury himself has even said he's got time on his hands. Let him get in proper condition, and just start slightly upping the competition over the next few dates I think. Dimitrenko would be a good opponent, or an easy former champ.

Eubank Jr. didnt have much of an amateur career, so hes just learning on the job ala JCC Jr. I could see him fighting at this level for another 5-10 fights at least, he's learning and putting on a good show. He won't be a world beater, IMO, but i could see him picking up either a British or International title, and headlining a few shows on 5 late next year.

  7. Tua was a great win for Monte to go out on, pretty sad to see him stretched out like that. feels like yesterday that he gave Haye a bit of a scare in his HW debut.

  8. Revenge: The Rematches (May 7, 1994) (Don King Productions/Showtime)

Gerald McClellan vs Julian Jackson 2 -WBC Middleweight Title

Simon Brown vs Terry Norris 2 -WBC Light Middleweight Title

Julio Cesar Chavez vs Frankie Randall 2 -WBC Light Welterweight Title

Azumah Nelson vs Jesse James Leija 2 -WBC Super Featherweight Title

unbeleiveable card, thanks for that wouldnt mind watching the whole show start to finish if i can hunt it down!

i think Haye will maybe get Chisora out of there late, but you never know. Del Boy looked better than anyone i can think of recently against Klitschko.

  9. Anyone see the card last night? Poor Paul Appleby, 24 years old and had way too many wars... sad to say but he may be shot already...

Harrison looked like a fucking beast, it genuinely looked like bodybuilder vs child in his fight, good to see he's got himself in good shape though. A few wins (not even good ones) and he will be fighting Burns.

  10. Chavez Jr takes on Andy Lee on saturday, live on boxnation.

Who you got? I really like Andy Lee but I think he'll fall just short. I see Chavez nicking a decision.

Anyone see Mcewan - Lee? Mcewan was doing well, winning most of the fight until Lee's come from behind KO. I'd love it if Craig Mcewan was to challenge the likes of Barker, Murray and Macklin. I think he'd be ina good chance of beating Murray and Macklin.

  11. I call Pacman getting a clear decision, I dont know if JMMs his kryptonite or if he slipped a bit in his last fight, but i still think bradley's never been in with someone of his calibre.

  12. anyone catch the Hopkins/Dawson rematch? an MMA news site stupidly spoilt it for me yesterday morning which pissed me off but by all accounts Hopkins really shows his age in the fight. Some sites saying it was arguably the poorest performance of his career :(

BHop hasnt put in a good performance since he fought Pavlik a few years back, that includes his foul-infested "performance" against Pascal. Shame though, i hoped he'd win and retire.

American guys like Paulie get more chances because they make more money. Simple as that. If enzo mac had actually beaten McPhilibin legititmately, he would have a world title fight in July, and he would be incredibly undeserving. Fact is? Cleverly - Maccarinelli will make more money than Cleverly against whatever eurobum they've found in the WBO top ten. Its not limited to American fighters. What makes you think someone like Tony Bellew deserved a shot?

  13. Pauli Malignaggi is now a 2 division champ, TKOed Sedchenko for the WBA welterweight title! Not seen the fight yet, but am chuffed for him, if you said he'd pick up another world title a year ago I'd have laughed.

  14. was surprised by Matthews win, he's made some come back since the KO to Choi for the WBU, really made up for the guy. He posts on Eastside, or at least used to, seems sound enough, no nonsense lad.

  15. Good news for anyone wanting to catch the mayweather fight (legally), Boxnation no longer has a minimum subscription - so you can just get it for the month for a tenner.

  16. Just watched the STurm fight, he pretty much destroyed Zbik with the Jab. Zbik had a great first round or two though, but just couldnt adapt to Felix's jab.

  17. Heads up! The Tyson Fury vs Martin Rogan fight is on Channel 5 at 10pm on Sat night. They're showing Tom Watson vs Ninja Rua from BAMMA 6 after aswell.

    Thats come around quickly.

Fury seems a nice enough fella but I hope Rogan beats him.

I don't think Fury works hard enough, both in getting ready for fights and when in the ring.

He's made out to be much better than he his and will get found out sooner rather than later.

Might be the best thing to happen to him.

    EDIT:

Both Fury and Rogan look in terrific shape for the fight, check these photo from the weigh in

  18. I know its not good and doesnt make the list, but does anyone remember some of the hilarious songs in the Pro Ev's from a few years back?

fifa 98 on psone had a great soundtrack IIRC, and Tony Hawk's 1. I remebered this as well....

    Duke Nukem - Megadeth

shame i cant give it a listen, soundcards gone in my laptop.

  19. It was announced Rios - Abril and JMM - Sebchenko will be on Box Nation a week on saturday. if your a boxing fan, its really worth the money now it seems!
