  1. when i watch a HBO or Showtime broadcast though it makes it feel special, they pull out all the stops. Boxnation is just dirtcheap. I imagine the Burns/Mitchell fight will be better on the weekend as it's one of the bigger shows the channel are putting on themselves, have to wait and see.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, Channel 5 are putting on the best looking boxing shows in this country at the moment, their coverage is fresh looking and it's entertaining.

Boxnation needs to be in HD too!

Although not fresh in my memory, 5's boxing looks like shit in my opinion. Its not quite Boxnation's "lets have the pundits stand about infront of the crowd cause we cant afford a studio", but it certainly doesnt look great.

  2. He'd have never coped with Lewis imo

    He certainly didn't

heres a photo of him from just 4 or 5 years back

    Tommy_Morrison_-_Pose_sem_camisa_-_Arquivo.jpg

he looks a state, with his pec implants and such, but he doesn't look like he's dying or anything. Crazy to think he actually fought as recently as 2008 in pro boxing, and had unsanctioned MMA bouts after that I think, too.

It could easily be meth thats made him look so bad but I've heard that his family think he will die soon. He also beleives he can teleport lol

  3. seeing as he looks to be dying soon (although they say that every other year nowadays), here's a tribute to Tommy Morrison

Admittedly I only saw his stuff after reading that Tommy Gunn from Rocky was indeed a professional boxer. He had a bit of a rollercoaster career, regarded as the great white hope, had an insane left hook and a shaky chin. Ray Mercer's KO of him was BRUTAL

That seemed to be the thing with Morrison, you were nearly always guaranteed a KO one way or another. He picked up the WBO title in a snoozefest with an old George Foreman, then went on to lose it to the unknown brit Michael Bentt (who actually went on to ahve a succesful film career after losing the title to Herbie Hide).

A solid B level fighter, after losing in a lower-tier world title fight to Lennox Lewis, he was diagnosed with HIV. After a fight in Tokyo, all he ahd were obscure fights in West Virginia and Mexico. He would also take part in "modified MMA" bout in a cage, where only stand up was allowed, and a similar bout where he fought a promoter. He had tried to make a comeback a few years back, claiming his HIV test was a false positive, but this has yet to be solidly proven, and judging by the photo I posted in my previous post, it looks to be very true.

  4. Golovkin - Proksa for the WBA "regular" and IBO baubles ended up being a decent bout - I genuinely beleive Golovkin could beat Geale if they fought and is a top 3 MW. He dominated and stopped the challenger in 5 rounds, and even though Proksa isn't quite top flight (Kerry Hope beat him not long ago) hes definite fringe world-level and I doubt the other champs and contenders would have done the same type of number on him.

Tommy Morrison rumoured to be dying (again), here's a photo of him looking horribly thin

    Tommy with super AIDs

  5. no sympathy for him, he shouldnt have had so many kids for a start, and anyone who earns 100 mil+ and then ends up with nothing deserves it. he still l;ives better than everyone on this forum, same with Tyson, Eubank etc. I think thats a given.

  6. Im pretty sure they dont drug test celebs and have their charity bouts sanctioned by the BBoBC! Im also 90% positive the fight wont happen, but I guess Big Shaq did fight ODLH before :)
  7. To be honest, the Skelton - Williams- Audrey - Sprott merry go round was TERRIBLE. Mind numbingly boring for years, although like you said it did have its moments, it genuinely felt like it would never end at times. Lets hope Pricey beats the "Parcel Force" Harrison and he finally retires. A crushing last minute, come from behind KO would be quite hilarious though I must admit.

  8. Price by KO, in my opinion, Unless Audley looks shit for 10 rounds and lands a hail mary... but I doubt it. A Force is finished!

Good to see BN getting a flagship HW in Price though, could go a long way to getting them press, especially if they get another HW title fight with a Brit. Chisora - Price would be good, too, and if Maloney and Warren are working together on this, it could happen.

Still havent seen the Broner fight but its on BN tonight at half 11 so I'll give it a watch, one thing I read that I agree with though is that Broner still hasn't beat anyone of note, the TKO of Litzau aside... At least Burns beat Martinez before going on that terrible SFW title run

  9. I think its pretty disgraceful that, it seems some guys/promoters just dont care if their fighter makes weight if it isnt in there interests. Yes, he forfeits 10% of his purse, but a contracts a contract

  10. I think he's using it as a bargaining chip for Hatton promotions. Im sure any tele station would jump at the chance to show them if Hatton was planning to make a comeback too. 33 year old ex champ isn't the craziest comeback ever to happen, but I do hope if he catches a beating in sparring he'll give it up.

Hatton Khan would be good for him after a couple of tune ups, even if he loses he has a ready made excuse and won't lose face.

  11. The people you mentioned are simply racist, end of. Never met anyone to be that stupid, really. I'm not racist, but I think that David Haye is a right stuck up nigger.

anyway, looks like the Hatton comeback rumours might be true...

looks in amazingly good shape, by his standards, and there has been a lot of rumours knocking about... I say why not? the time off could have actually been just what he needed. I'd imagine he'd be at 147, and it'd be goo to see him out on a win.

  12. Well racists hate Khan, yeah? racists hate entire races, of course there not going to like him, it will ALWAYS be the case when a boxer is a minority.... plenty of racists will hate David Haye and Chisora, but more normal people like them, so it doesn't seem as bad.

The last thing I will say on the matter is this - Khan should think before he talks, admit his major faults and go back to the drawing board. I sincerely doubt his ego will let him do all three, but i hope as a representative of a Britain, he does well.

Anyone looking forward to Pascal - Cloud? Cloud didn't look too hot against Campillo, i'd take Pascal in this one.

  13. People need to stop playing the race card, it really is pathetic, and probably makes people resent him even more.

If anyone hates Amir Khan more because of what other people say, then they are bottom feeding thundercunts. Also, no-one has played the race card here, they've stated that some people dislike him because he is a muslim and becuse of this, arseholes automatically think of Naz (Who I much preferred to Khan!). Note "some" not "all"

By the way, for the record, I've been watching Boxing for over 25 years. Both on TV and live shows, both amateur and professional. To be honest, I don't even know what boxrec is but I shall google it.

Wasn't talking to you, just talking about the impression I get from a lot of the boys that post in this thread. People ARE playing the race card, Im saying a lot hate Khan because he's cocky, there saying there's more to it than that. How are they NOT playing the race card?

  14. I'm not sure I buy the 'lucky punch' stuff to be fair. It's not like it was the 11th or 12th round with Khan battering him the whole time and then Garcia threw a Hail Mary and lucked out. Yeah Khan was winning the rounds but it was still early in the fight, a lot can change. Some guys are slow starters, some like to pace themselves.

Garcia would have known he wasn't likely to win the speed and combinations game with Khan and would likely be widely outlanded. So he'd have trained specifically on what openings Khan leaves and making sure he makes his shots count. It worked. Good for Garcia, it was his only real shot to win and he made it happen.

Really I've never believed in the lucky punch stuff in Boxing or MMA. You make your own luck in my opinion. If you trained to land that punch, you meant to land it, and it lands then where's the luck? It's a fight, it's not like Khan didn't know Garcia would be trying to punch him. He had the right to block or avoid it and he didn't. Garcia deserves full credit.

Great, great post. People may not be using the words "lucky punch", but some are acting like if it wasnt for that one shot, Khan would have won, THATS my problem... I sincerely doubt any of the rest of the top 10 at LWW would get caught by it and rocked like tat, and it should have been stopped after that first knockdown, the referee basically lifted his gloves for him if you watch it back.

The Facebook thing was never intended as a direct quote, I shouldn't have put the quotations, but that is what he said pretty much. He takes on bigger challenges, sells more tickets is a bigger name, and Froch is just jealous. I fucking told you it was on his Facebook and has since been deleted. What else can I say? I posted up plenty of other quotes to make him look a twat, and yes those were direct! if you can;t remember him saying any of it, then you obviously havent followed his career that much from the start. Maybe start following boxing instead of just watching your favourites fight then looking at boxrec and making shit up as you go.

My point about picking apart Khan's opponents is that there hardly amazing opposition? Im not saying there is better people he should have fought, but there certainly not on the level of Froch's opponents.Mcloskey and Malignaggi especially, he is quite frankly a fringe contender (dont give a fuck if he has the WBA regular belt).

In that last interview, Khan sounds a lot more humble, props to him.

People need to stop playing the race card, it really is pathetic, and probably makes people resent him even more. Who are these white boy boxers who get away with talking as much shit as Khan? there is none! He is a victim of himself and his own overexposure.

  15. ANyone who thinks Garcia got "lucky" against Khan oviously know nothing and should go back and study that fight, the pre-fight media quotes and Garcia's past fights. Khan can learn, and fight him again and maybe win, but that was no stroke of luck, Garcia knew what he was going for and it worked a treat.

Also the Gomez thing, NO ONE would have called that guy world class, even if they lost to him.

  16. here's a few quotes for you: -

Before Gomez fight: "I'm above fighting these domestic level boxers"

After shot Gomez takes him to hell and back:"Now I'm fighting world class fighters like Gomez"

"If I was white I would be a superstar" before being cheered to the rafters by the majority WHITE audience upon decking the mighty Salita

Sold a shitty 50 minute DVD of "his story so far"(highlights of fights against daniel thorpe and Baz Carey) for 20 quid a pop

"I'll retire after fighting(beating) Floyd and Pacquiao" how very presumptious of you Amir

He also called Oisin Fagan "a great fighter", and that stopping him was impressive because he went the distacnce with Chavez Jr (in a four rounder)

    to name but a few.

My apologies, I went a bit offtrack with that Khan and Froch stuff, but Khan DID brag about selling more tickets, making more money and being more exciting. He said it on his facebook and deleted it.

  17. Okay sorry guys, the humble yet confident Khan was completely outclassing Garcia, until Garcia threw a lucky punch, could have happened to anyone (except it never had before, and it probably wont again). Khan deserves a rematch, he completely dominated those two rounds!!!

  18. I dont exactly k ow what Khan said but it was along the lines of "I sell tickets, people want to see ME. I have a name, I have fans, blah fucking blah". He said it on his Facebook, I saw it with my own eyes. and surprise sruprise, Khan writes stupid shit on social media website and DELETES IT. and you defend him saying "I fught tougher opposition in a better division" or whatever, thats fucking ridiculous. A 100 year old Judah, the two times stopped powder puff Malignaggi, Mcloskey!!, the now exposed Maidana and Lamont Peterson are hardly a string of P4P opponents, and he lost to one of them. You wonder why people dont like him? Froch gets away with it because he gets the toughest challenges, and really is in a stacked division.

People who big up the first few rounds of a fight that there fighter was winning till he got "caught" are just making excuses. Could have happen to ANYONE? get a fucking grip, Khan ate Garcia's best(some say his only useful) shot, and he fucking telegraphs them! That would never have happened to a true "elite" fighter. Gracia knew Khan would come out aggressive, and because of Khan's lack of power, he waited for a flurry then opened up with a counter, whereas others wouldn't because of Khan's speed. Garcia has good timing and is a copunterpuncher, he was waiting for Khan to come to him to leave himself open, he wasnt just throwing shots out there and getting lucky, thats totally disrespectful to Danny.... Brits like a loser, but not a sore loser Im afraid....

If he didnt set himself up for such big falls, maybe people wouldn't hate him so much. What exactly do you guys dispute in the things I have said? simply because I cant link shit hes deleted, and Im not trawling the internet just to prove a point to strangers on the net who have no idea about boxing?

  19. SHOW ME THE PROOOOOFF!!!!

Settle down, Im not just a wind up merchant I know what I'm talking about.

Im not trawling the net for you, but he said in an interview at Sky Sports News “I got caught with a lucky shot. I should never have got caught.” Garcia knew what he was doing from round one and was given no credit, until he'd probably had a speaking to that he started saying "the better man on the night won". He never admits his glaring faults, and why does he deserve a rematch? he took a beating, lost decisively and was coming off a loss (it hasnt been overturned yet).

There is LOADs of cringeworthy, big headed things he has said on Twitter and in multiple interviews in the past, stuff he's obviously been told off about and deleted on the former. Also other dodgy stuff like an interview being shut down when asked about performance enhancers,, him referring to himself as "we" instead of taking responsibility for his own lack of ring craft.... before Peterson failed the test, Khan was talking total bullshit when it was CLEAR TO ANYONE WITH A BRAIN that he lost that fight. Its plain to see his head is in the clouds... he is no "superstar". Add to that he's surrounded by morons and hangers on who say even more stupid shit than him!

Oh and Carl Froch says what HE would do in Khan's situation, Khan's response? "Everyone knows me and loves me, I make more money than you, I sell more tickets than you, Im more exciting than you" etc. He even thinks he's fought more people in a tougher division than Froch, delusional or what?

Maybe if you followed Khan closely, you'd see this shit on a regular basis. His personality annoys me, but I do root for him when he fights, same with any brit... Im just trying to show you why people hate him (and its not racism in the vast majority of cases, I know pakistanis who hate him too)
