  1. Advice for quest users, if you can have a wireless streaming setup from your pc then I would recommend buying beat saber on steam rather than quest, simply for the ability to mod and add songs to the library. Really good fun and it’s helped get both my girls and my wife into vr as well.

How are you enjoying your VR? I bought an Oculus Rift S in a moment of madness and I'm loving it so far. I've got Superhot VR, Creed and Half Life Alyx, which are all great, but the things I've probably enjoyed the most are the free Google Earth app and Bigscreen, where I've been watching wrestling on a virtual cinema screen.

Maybe we should have a separate VR thread.

Really enjoying it, both the quest specific software and the ability to hook it up with the pc and play rift/steam vr games as well is a great addition. I’ve got it running as a pc headset wirelessly, needs a bit of tweaking still but it’s already pretty seamless. Means I (and the kids) can play the likes of beat saber, etc in the living room where I’ve got the space as opposed to being tethered to the pc which is in our bedroom.

Bigroom and Netflix etc have been an unexpected surprise, it’s amazing how you can get that sense of scale similar to a theatre even though it’s just a tiny screen attached to your head. I’ve not spent too much time trying to set it up with my own media server but what I have seen is great.

  3. Superhot is definitely on the list to get, the good thing with a lot of the quest games is that they work on their own in the headset, but you also get cross-buy with the rift version so you can plug the quest into your PC and play that version with better graphics as well.

Will pick up the pixel ripped games, there's a bundle for both versions on the store just now - cheers for the heads up I don't think I'd have found those browsing

  4. absolutely stuffed, lunch at 1 and even the thought of a turkey sarnie is too much right now. 11th year of doing the Christmas Dinner, for some reason the Yorkshires didn't rise properly although still tasted good but the roast tatties were on point and the gravy was a+ (chicken stock and root veg under the turkey as it cooks, then reduced with red wine). Did Turkey and a Gammon joint - 8 hours in the slow cooker, cooked in Dr Pepper. Leftovers for days if not weeks. No pictures as I'm a lazy arsehole, but I'm done in.

Well done to all who undertook the cooking this year, some great looking plates so far. I'll be honest though, a plate of roast tatties covered in gravy seems to be the ideal evening.

  5. Good Au award - Ralphy. He's the heart of this place for better or worse, and especially this year he's been very open about his issues and always looked to help others in the mental health thread. He's never slow to poke fun at himself and doesn't get precious when others rib him, so for me he's worthy of the nom this year. UKFF has been a great support network to many this year and would have been a good sight worse off without his presence.

  6. Comic Strip didn’t have the cultural impact people who love it think it did, launched some careers but most were already known or started on the Young Ones. It was very good, but it’s never the top of the list of things the main cast are remembered for now.

The 80s one will be a bit crap anyway, 60 minutes on Countdown and The Tube, maybe 15 to 1 if they can be bothered. Could pad it out with Desmonds but that just crept in at the end of the 80s, most of its run was in the 90s.

  7. Dinklebot :( never forget. Nolan North is a decent replacement though, they also killed off Nathan Fillion’s character and Gina Torres hasn’t had anything new to say in about 18 months. They clearly moved away from the high cost voice cast to save some money.

I’ve only recently joined a clan in the last few months, until then the last raid I’d done was Kings Fall in D1. It’s still a time sink, that’s my main thing. Even with a team who knows the raid it’s still tough going and can last for hours. I’ve still only finished a couple of raids even with a clan.

The new raid launched on Saturday so I was watching along on stream as the top teams were racing for first place (rock and roll, I know). 5 and a half hours it took, no chance I’d have that sort of time free.

Also, the new stasis (freeze) powers have kind of broken pvp play at the moment so maybe give that a miss until they get the balance right.

  8. So the Beyond Light expansion has removed the original story and first 2 expansions, there’s a new ‘First Light’ campaign which introduces you to the game and brings you somewhat up to speed, before you then move onto the Beyond Light content. You can also play the last 2 expansions Forsaken and Shadowkeep.

it’s a grindy loot based live service game but the gameplay mechanics are so enjoyable and as far as FPS games go nothing compares for me. I’ve played since the beta of the first game and although I’ve dropped out on occasion it remains the only game I play with regularity. The fact it looks great with a fantastic score helps too.

  9. Can confirm, Pandoras box are much better value. You can get them on Amazon, either just the box to plug into an arcade machine or fully enclosed in a controller deck which just needs to be plugged Into the tv. I’ve got the latter and it works great, but pricier than the capcom one but loads more games.

The fluoride waterfall, turned frogs gay with the 5G, I won’t take it you can’t make me. Your facts don’t mean I’m wrong

You can't persuade me, I'm voting UKIP instead.

  11. Our turn (maybe), 5yr old daughter now has to isolate for 2 weeks due to a confirmed case in her year group at school. Her 9yr old sister continues to go to school as normal, and my wife and I aren't required to isolate just advised to ensure only 1 person goes out when we need to - which we did anyway for the most part. Living in a small town in a region with historically lower numbers this is the first time since day one that it's felt 'close', even when there was 1 other case a month ago in another year group it still felt relatively safe.

Time will tell, but if she has caught it then I'm going to assume we all will. Can't really isolate a 5yr old from others in the home, despite my suggestion we stick a bed in the attic....

  12. It is slightly sad that the end to his cinematic legacy was the dreadful League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a film he only took on due to regret over passing on Lord of the Rings (Gandalf) and The Matrix (he claimed Morpheus but it's been speculated it was actually the role of The Architect) because he didn't understand the scripts. The whole ordeal sent him into retirement as he had such a stressful time that he didn't want to ever go through it again.

He was only 73 at that point, so it's safe to say Stephen Norrington deprived us of possibly a few more great twilight performances from Connery, the hack.

Not the best Bond and worst performance to win a supporting actor Oscar Sean Connery had pashed on

    Cheers Lance!

Sad to read about this but it’s not a surprise and he had a great innings. Holds a place in my heart for the Highlander films more than he did for Bond, also had a great twilight career run of blockbusters which were great fun such as The Rock. His best moment for me was as Henry Jones Sr.

Spawned a generation of shite impressions, his Bond was a bit rapey, but if we don’t hold him up as Scotland’s most successful actor then it has to be Gerard Butler or Ewan McGregor which just isn’t worth thinking about.
