  1. When I first saw this thread I was afraid to go in because I was sure everybody else has met more famous people (and is therefore "better") than me. But then I thought, fuck it, I want to do a list. I'm excluding wrestlers 'cause this is the Off Topic area but I did once meet Robbie Brookside in Disneyland...

Peter Beardsley - yeah, okay, just about everyone in the Newcastle area's met him at one time or another. It was in Marks & Spencer. He was fine.

Jannick Gers (guitarist for Iron Maiden) - met him at a Jeff Beck gig, seemed perfectly nice.

David Prowse (played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars films) - was really nice, even got to interview him for the student newspaper (though the bastard of an editor wouldn't publish more than 500 words because he claimed Star Wars was too small a niche. $2 billion at the box office! And he then goes and devotes an entire page to some shite indie band nobody's heard of. Cunt). Just don't ask him about James Earl Jones...

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright - okay, it was at a signing for Hot Fuzz, but Pegg said hello to me so it counts.

Andy Hamilton - visited my place of work with his son. As did, at another time, the guy who played Martin Platt in Coronation Street...

Cary Brothers, Brian Wright and Greg Laswell (singer-songwriters - Cary has been featured on Scrubs quite a lot) - the type of people who introduce themselves to you when you meet them, appearing genuinely surprised that you've reocgnised them.

Princess Caroline of Monaco - I served Melba toast to her to go with her caviar.

Prince Harry - was very friendly and seemed a genuinely nice bloke.

Waldemar Janucszak (Sunday Times art critic) - he likes his art. Very interesting chappie.

Alan Shearer, Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and Steve Harper - all at a dinner party. Shearer couldn't give a toss, LLB seemed alright and Harper said hi, so there you go.

Then there's the Duke of Northumberland and his family, but I won't count them since technically they're my bosses and could get me fired.

  2. Sorry if this has been asked before: I've just got the full Guitar Hero World Tour package for Wii. If I was to buy a Rock Band game would I be able to use the GH:WT guitar, drums and mic, or would I have to buy a whole other set of controllers too?

Think I'm probably going to buy a game of some kind tomorrow - which Lego game is the best? Star Wars, Indiana Jones or Batman?

  3. i think if you look at our roster there are few green trainees.in fact from the days you last watched us several of the new roster have training schools themselves something we dont or are trainers at other schools.

Surprised nobody has yet pointed out the, ehem, problems inherent in this statement. Ronin appears to be saying that "our wrestlers aren't shit, they train other people to be wrestlers therefore they must be good". Just from this list alone we know being a trainer does not equal a good wrestler. Far from it in quite a number of cases...Silly Ronin.
  4. well i've only just gotten into wrestling (been training for about 3 months) so this list has done a few things for me1) made me laugh so hard i nearly shit my lungs out.2) Given me something to aim for i.e. never ever to make this list!3) Make me think long and hard about who i'm being trained by (yes they are on this list!) and i happen to agree with the points made about them!

But has it inspired you to go and find another, more competent trainer? Because it's one thing to be trained by a SHITARSE, but to know your trainer's a SHITARSE and continue to train with them thereafter, is another.
  5. I've never seen Wade Fitzgerald wrestle. I have only seen photos of him, so all I know of him is that he looks 12 years old. Not just in a Rey Mysterio looks-a-lot-younger-than-he-is kind of looks-12-years-old, I mean he actually looks 12 years old. Stick him in a line up of middle school kids and I'd not be able to tell which one wasn't actually a pre-teen*. I've heard quite a lot of good things about his ability and his potential etc, etc, but I don't think I'd ever be able to take him seriously no matter how good he is, because he looks 12 years old. I know one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but when the cover looks so out of place you can't help it. At least Rey put a mask on so nobody could see he had the face of a small boy!*I'm presuming Wade is not in fact 12.

  6. Rey is one of the best wrestlers of all time who wears a mask because he looks like a twelve year old without it. Generico is a good wrestler who used someone else's mask to get a foothold with a silly gimmick. It's time to let it go.

Of course it's entirely possible that Generico also looks like a twelve-year old without the mask, in which case unmasking is not going to go too well for him either. I don't see why he needs to take it off, he gets reactions with it, without it he might have the same level of matches and Be Taken More Seriously but he'd also be just another lanky scrawny pale indy wrestler. He wouldn't stand out anymore, is I guess the gist of what I'm trying to get at.Unless he's got crazy scars or is actually Benicio Del Toro or something.
  7. So there's nothing good particularly from Reborn Again (11/5), Fight @ The Roxbury (8/6), United We Stand (22/6) or Caged Rage (24/8)?

I was quite disappointed by Caged Rage (the only one of those four I've seen) - the cage matches in question weren't fantastic (the Briscoes/Steenerico one in particular didn't measure up to the street fight they had a couple of weeks before at DBDVN1), the triple threat title match is okay, as is Danielson vs. Pac, but the show looked a lot better than it actually turned out to be. For me, anyway.
  8. Ok, opinions people please.I haven't seen a ROH show since Cabana's farewell on 28/4/07. I'm a long way behind and I don't think I can ever catch up. Assume I have access to the PPV's, is there anything else I'm really missing over the remainder of '07? Any unmissable matches (that don't appear on the PPV's remember?)Cheers.

There's the first Morishima vs. Danielson match from 'Manhattan Mayhem II', and Shiozaki vs. Danielson from 'Live In Tokyo', but other than that, I'd say all the essential stuff's on the PPV DVDs.
  9. Whitmer will be back to be pushed to the moon again, this time against Chris Hero.Love the idea of Sabian in ROH. Definately pleases me more than Eddie Kingston anyways.

Really? Has he improved vastly in recent times or something? Because every time I've seen him, he was utter cack.
