  1. Anyone have our know where I can find footage of Jerry Lawler giving that downs kid the pile driver on an episode of memphis wrestling? Think they were doin some skit in lawlers house and he pile drove the guy in the kitchen for somethin.

I think he stole Lawler's chicken or something. Brilliant skit.
  2. Pair o' questions:1 - What happened to Jack Xavier? I remember him being a prominent part of FWA back in their days on TWC but he sort of disappeared from 2005 onwards - I'm presuming he left wrestling?2 - Have Undertaker and Umaga ever been in a match together, or will this year's Royal Rumble be the first time?

  3. Nigel responds

OK Dave,Gabe gave me the all clear, so I am staying up at 2:30 in the morning, when I have to be up at 8am tomorrow to pack and leave for my next NOAH tour, to write this because I feel so vehemently mistreated and unjustly referenced by this ignorant article. I have copied the article into this email and will refer specifically to the points in question:I attended both of the NYC ROH shows this past weekend, and was a little disgusted with the events surrounding Nigel McGuinness's injury. I don't know if you're interested, but I wrote this note to whomever may take notice. I already posted it at the ROH forum, but it seems to be going over people's heads there. If you print it, please withhold my name. Thanks.Yesterday, for the second time in as many months, I attended a Ring of Honor show at the Manhattan Center in which ROH Champion Nigel McGuinness could not defend his title in a previously scheduled match. Before I go any further, I wish to make one thing perfectly clear: I wholeheartedly applaud the decision to pull Nigel McGuinness from the 12/30 show after his concussion suffered on 12/29 (at a show which I also attended)--You open by applauding the decision that I and ROH made to protect me from further physical harm by pulling me from the show, and then close by stating you won't buy any more tickets for ROH events where you know you may not see the scheduled main event. How is this applauding the decision? However, the circumstances surrounding the injury have left me with a bad taste in my mouth.McGuinness

  4. The big dance backstage at WrestleMania with Cryme Tyme, Extreme Expose, Steamboat, IRS, The Fink, Slick, Mae and Moolah, Eugene, etc etc.And hell, Madman Manson because I find him entertaining. Finally, Black Reign being announced as "From the deepest, darkest corner of his mind" - I couldn't stop laughing the first time I heard that.

  5. WSX. It's the only one I felt I had to see every week.

WWE - ECW - by far the best of the three brands. Yes, I'm serious. It's been great this week. The best match of the year (the eight-man Extreme Rules match after WrestleMania, why I'm the only one who's nominated that in MOTY I'll never know), and the best sports-entertainment storyline of the year (Balls and Kelly, dammit!).

  6. Extreme Rules: ECW Originals vs. New Breed (ECW on Sci Fi, the week after WrestleMania. Phenomenal match.)The Briscoes vs. Motor City Machineguns (ROH Good Times Great Memories)Kobashi's return match, for the atmosphere. Can I vote for the Extreme Rules one more than once? :music:

  7. A heel calling a face a faggot is outdated offensive cheap heat.A face calling a heel a faggot is plain retarded.

It's always been that way round though. Homophobia is the socially acceptable form of bigotry, especially in wrestling. I don't ever remember a heel using gay insults for heat. But there's been hundreds of effeminate heels to act as bait for homophobic chants. Normally the faces aren't quite so blatant at encouraging it, and it's no excuse for continuing with this shitty tradition. But a heel calling a face a faggot to get heat would actually be a progressive move for the wrestling business.
I see what you're getting at here, but that could go one of two ways - as you say, it could be progressive, a "boo! How dare you use a homophobic slur, you bigot" kind of heat, or alternatively (and probably more likely) would be the opposite, a "boo! How dare you accuse a nice upstanding straight man of being a filthy gay" kind of heat.
