Watching some of the old Nitro's on the Network and had a few thoughts;

 

In August 1996 at the moment - it is amazing I think how much slicker and big time WCW looks compared to the the WWF at the time. The presentation and entrance ramp etc looks well ahead of it's time, makes WWF look poor in comparison.

 

It;s amazing seeing how agile The Giant is as well. Throwing drop kicks and his chokeslam's look amazing with the height he gets on them. Crazy to think that in just 3 years time he'd be in the WWF and most of that athleticism would be gone. It's like the Giant and the Big Show are two completely different people from here to 1999.

 

The NWO stuff is really good. The only thing I think that gets a little annoying is that literally the whole show is built around seeing them or wondering what they'll do and the sole focus of the storyline is NWO. There's hardly any midcard storylines as it's fully focused on the NWO. I get that it's a big angle but at the same time the WWF was devoting a lot of tiem to the undercard as well as the main event so it really sticks out.

Where are these fresh Hogan rumours?! All the tabloids today have basically named everyone who is going in and Hogan isnt amongst them. The rumours are weeks old.

Not to be one of those, buit with NXT Sheffield, looking at the seating plan where do you reckon the entrance ramp is? Where Block 104 is I assume, coming towards the floor blocks G and F?

 

Might be a stupid question but want to make sure as dont want tickets on the entrance ramp as such if i can avoid it!

Oddly missing episode 103 att he end of August, any reason for that or just random?

So WWE have realeased a brand new set of Merchandise for John Cena, T-Shirts, hat, the lot etc.

 

What's interesting is that it's being referred to as the 15xRange and features the phrase 15x on all of said merchandise.

 

15 times is of course how many times John Cena has won the  WWE and World Championships combined....surely as big a spoiler as any that Cena is losing at SummerSlam and won;t be winning the title any time soon? If Cena wins next Sunday then within a week his new merchandise is out of date!

 

Seems really really odd timing.

Daniel Bryan is still over like a motherfucker...he couldnt look less starstruck with the look on the face when everyone is going mental for him though, always looks like a kid making a guest appearance or something.

 

Really hope he can come back one day, reaction will be mental if he returns and actually starts wrestling.

Yeah 1999 RAW plays perfectly on the PS4 for me, but when i watch the 1999 SmackDowns it buffers to fuck. Weird.

So Bully Ray has walked out on TNA  already....so he lasted a week as the new GM. Jesus.

2 hour pre show makes the whole event 6 hours long if you watch it all.

 

Crazy. If i was a kid growing up now with the WWE network id be loving it, must be amazing.

Yeah I thought WrestleMania 22 was really good as well. That Shinedown song and the arena being compact added to a great spectacle and was a really good atmosphere.

 

First time I think that the anti Cena backlash was addressed by the WWE, albeit JR trying to put a spin on it. Remember really liking Edge around that time as he was really coming into his own.

 

Even the Masters/Carlito story was pretty good. Fond memories of that event, will be on the to be watched list before this years to set the mood.

RAW in 1996 is weird.

 

Maybe its because im so used to this day and ages formula of talking segments etc, but its just odd how the main event is usually really random with a big star against whoever, and it's rare you ever hear promos from the champion or anything.

 

I've been watching it on the network and im in February now, its the night after IYH Rage In The Cage, Bretvs Shawn has been made official for WrestleMania however on this RAW neither of them have been on it! Incredible these days to imagine neither of the guys in the Mania main event appearing on RAW in some form.

 

Bret hasnt had much promo time either in the first half and hasnt been on all the shows which is odd considering he was the champion at the time. Guess thats just how it was back then.

 

Was Nitro like this or was it more similar with today?

Im suprised how long its taking them. I know they're not going to chuck it all out there in one go, but the fact we've only got RAWs up mid 1996 and Nitro to the end of 1996 is annoying.

 

I've got 97,98,99, 00 and 01 Raw and SD on dvd, but it'd be easier if I could have it on the network (and better quality). Not seen any of Nitro so im makng my way through 1996 now, hopefully theres more up by the time i get to the end

Joel Redman just been on The Hotel, on channel 4. Was on screen for about 60 seconds and came across like a right knob

 

 

 

Encouraging to hear the shows came off well for people attending live. Though in fairness, whenever TNA come over here they generally put on brilliant shows, everyone loves it and gets carried away that it's a turning point, then they come back to the US and it all goes to shit again. Shame. Though i do look forward to watching all this unfold on Challenge.

Just watching the 1994 Rumble PPV (really good btw I thought) whats the deal with everyone attacking Undertaker in the title match? As in storyline reason for seemingly the majority of the heels wanting to help Yokozuna win?

Is anyone else having trouble getting on to the network? Last few days I cant get into the damn thing, its going to the link for the homepage but it just wont load so i've got a blank screen of white, the link shows as Video-WWE, which it does to get to the start but nothing

 

I cheked unblock US etc and its workin fine so its really odd.

That;s a real shame. I dont enjoy a whole lot in TNA and they've messed up a lot, but one good thing they've done is the presentation and push of the EC3 character, really good old school heel and i enjoyed his week. Hopefully they will still work him into the shows.

Rikishi's heel turn has to be up there.

 

His character was wearing a bit thin with the same dancing routine, but being the one to have run down Austin did him no good. Especially when a couple of weeks later they basically had Triple H take over the whole thing and Rikishi just played a random heel. I mean this thing was built up for months, Rikishi said he did it, him and Austin had one brawl, and that was it.

 

May as well have just gone with Triple H doing it and either turned Rikishi a different way, to fued with The Rock or whatever, or just leave him as he was.

Its one of them isnt it. Ideally they wouldn't have house shows the same night as tv tapings, but then that'd mean some places would miss out as they cant tour for too long.

 

Im going to Raw and Smackdown so imagine I'll see everyone at some point, can see why people would be annoyed if they're just going raw though and the list above is missing. Will also make for a pretty poor raw tv show as well so I'd be suprisrd to see such a weak roster

Watching a bit of Bound For Glory now.

 

no spoilers but it's embarrasing. Such a small arena. The 3D hall of fame induction really was cringe worthy, seeing dreamer get emotional in front of like 20 people in that room.

 

Unbelievable that the Dudleyz and Angle have been in tna longer than they were WWE, get them home so they sign off their careers respectively.

 

This company is dead and its embarrasing for everyone involved watching them try and make it seem a big deal in front of about 10 people that care

Weird that there's no WWF RAW or Smackdown episodes from 2000 on the Network, there was some peaches that year I expected them to start adding during the attitude era week.

 

Benoit was all over a lot of the shows in 2000 though, suppose that could be a reason? Hasnt affected PPVs etc though,

 

Been watching Nitro from the start a bit today, never watched any Nitro before so its interesting to watch, hopefully wont have to wait too long till they get more up through 1997 etc.

 

Has there been any more talk on when the entire RAW  and SD! library will be on there? Dreaming for every episode ever, at least up to 2001, but I realise it's a big ask and might take a while.

Finally fixed my PS4 problem. Had to change the DNS settings!

I thought that the fact i could get into unblock us meant all was fine, but apparently to make the actual videos play still had to mess about with the dns settings! Oh well, all working now at least.

Nah I haven't, It's working absolutely fine as normal on my laptop, but soon as I try and watch on the PS4 it isn't having it.
