  1. Bloodstock doesn't look to appealing to me but i'm tempted to go for a day just to see Alcest and Iced Earth, hopefully Alcest play the same time as Watain so i can totally miss their god awful selves.

I'm still considering going to Bloodstock but this is the exact clash I don't want to happen. I love Watain and their brilliant stage set up combined with their phenomenal tunes on a main stage will be fantastic to behold as long as it's not done in the sunlight. Alcest are also fantastic and after seeing them last monday in Glasgow, I cannot wait to see them again. I'm just hoping that there's no more power metal to come and more black and death metal. If Bloodstock get Bolt Thrower then I think I'm sold. Otherwise the overall line up is a complete meh compared to Hellfest for me.

Watain pretty much stick out as the most generic of generic when it comes to black metal to me but i guess i have a chip on my shoulder when it comes to thier imagery and ideology as much as anything else.

If you haven't already i'd say have a look at Roadburn festivals line-up this year, an awesome mix of the more extreme/doom/post metal and experimental scenes.

  2. I finally got around to watching the new Studio Ghibli animation Arriety and as expected it's their typical wonderous and charming style but a lot more of a low key affair, not much actually seems to happen and the whole movie just floats by. Possibly my least favourite of the collection but still a pleasant watch that's better than 90% of other recent animated childrens movies (Tangled not included as that's class).

  3. No mentions of Doug Stanhope (that i could see)? He's rather brash compared to legends like Carlin and Hicks but has me in stiches most of the time, although in his last CD "Oslo: Burning the Bridge to Nowhere" he seems to be getting bored and has lost his anger/edge but his take on Norwegian Vaginas is amazing.

  4. I saw The Artist last night at the pictures and it deserves all the praise it's getting and more, i can say when i last saw a film so charming and clever. The lad with an obviously low IQ that served me the ticket mumbling "You know it's a silent movie?" and the people walking out were the only bad things about it.

  5. Ohhhh.. I will still check those out with an open mind, but Kool Keith gets on my tits a bit (he was pretty good live though).

You need to check out Dr Octagon - Dr Octagoneacologist, fucking great hip hop album.

I really like Half Sharkalligator Half Man, http://youtu.be/wfrShCSEg9E

That album is class and the beats are flawless, actually found it through an old Waddy interview.

If i may add another song that i've been into recently it's this "Anti-Rap" (their term not mine) Folky gem by A Band of Buriers

An amazing wordsmith without being overly complex, one of the few books recently that i couldn't put down. Tough subject matter to get right but being semi-autobiographical means he can call on his own life events and give genuine details that an outsider might not.

  7. Rick Flare

Love is... (This one is amazing, imo)

Also wonder if it's named after Ric, i've seen wrestling shirts worn in various groups of his. I just like how he has well made characters or concepts in all of his groups, Max Normal/Maxnormal.TV was all about his character being a suited inspirational speaker.

  8. Those guys are pretty rubbish to listen to really, but I'll always check out their music videos because they're pretty entertaining..

I honestly think you might prefer some of Waddys older work especially with The Constructus Corporation, Die Antwoord is his weaker group made for the pop scene and has worked where as his "arty" stuff just never got off the ground outside of SA.

  9.

Not sure that these went down too well last time here but i'm loving the new album, it's a pure dance classic with quite a few tracks that would suit the clubs. This is the latest track released from it (album's not out yet or even properly leaked but if you know the right people..).

  10. Well it was a long ole film Love Exposure and it did take me a lot to get into it, because it got a bit boring throughtout and could kinda know what was gonna happen in the end but i still did enjoy it and i dont usually watch longer films :)

I blooming adore that movie, i'd say go find a copy of Cold Fish on t'internet. It's by the same director and it's all sorts of odd, actually i'd watch most of his films excluding Ekusute or however it's spelt which was a pretty poor attempt at the typical style of J Horror.

  11. Sorry for my ignorance of not searching this thread but has anyone heard of or had any encounters with Britain First?

Some tit who I work with is facing the sack for CC'ing everyone an e-mail about them. I had a quick nosey at their site Britain First and laughed a whole lot. I wouldn't even say the website is thinly veiled to the out and out racism it spews. They should have just gone ahead and said WE HATE NON WHITES in big letters and linked themselves with the KKK, fucking idiots.

I don't see them doing any damage anywhere but it is worrisome that another group is going down the same route as the BNP and the like. When will they ever learn?

Britain First was formerly known as N9S, an out and out Nazi group.

  12. Just watched Breathless for the first time (52 years late, i know) and it has to be one of the "coolest" movies ever made, everything about is it sleek and sexy unlike anything i've seen before. Saying that, they story is almost nonexistant at times and it's more style over substance but the sheer ammount of style is more than enough to make it a good watch plus Jean is just that flipping gorgeous.
