Victor Is God
If you're coming to the show tomorrow, then thanks! And also, set off early. Snow is forecast, apparently. Â But before all that, XWA is the only promotion in Lancashire to be invited onto BBC Radio Lancashire tomorrow morning. Listen in to Greg Lambert on the BBC Radio Lancs breakfast show at 8.50am for all the pre-Goldrush hype!
Paid Members WWFChilli Posted February 3, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 3, 2012 Are we really going to argue over whose DVD front covers are better now? Â Don't be such a cunt. It was a very valid point. The font on the back is pretty pish to be honest mate. The front cover is good in a simplistic way.
Victor Is God
Morning all. And so the day dawns for the eighth annual XWA Goldrush. One of the biggest matches on the show is The Blackpool Blonds taking on the reunited Manchester Massive. The Blonds have a last-minute message for Joey and Declan, for their home of Manchester, and for the people of Morecambe. Here it is... Paid Members gadge Posted February 5, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 5, 2012 After Jynkz beat El Ligero for the Flyweight title, RJM, Ste 'Bin' Mann and Dylan Roberts ran in and destroyed him. RJM also laid out Jynkz's kid brother with a punch. All three guys were in GPW t-shirts for the invasion.
DannRead
Apparently Shanna dislocated her shoulder and hyper-extended her elbow last night. Ouch! Â Because of going to the hospital Shanna missed her flight back home so we don't have any 'complete' details with regards to moving forwards as she needs to see her own doctors regarding that but a dislocated shoulder and hyper-extended elbow are indeed what was diagnosed over here. What I can say and I'm pretty sure anyone else who was there last night who saw the triple threat match between Shanna, Davids and Sjodin based on feedback thus far is you'll be hard pressed to find a better all female match of 2012! Morecambe crowd definitely seemed to love it with some fans even jumping out of their seats at the action they saw! Tremendous stuff!
Victor Is God
Today XWA Wrestling releases photos of the unprovoked attack by GPW wrestlers Ste Bin Mann, Dylan Roberts and Ricky J McKenzie on newly-crowned XWA British Flyweight and Best of the North West double champion Jynkz last Saturday night at Goldrush. These photos clearly show how The Carleton security had to forcibly eject the GPW wrestlers from the venue after they forced their way in uninvited and attacked Jynkz during his post-match celebration. However, Mann and Roberts refused to leave the venue and returned to the ring to continue the assault on Jynkz. McKenzie then also forced his way into the venue and joined in the assault. Only then did Jynkz's brother Dean, a non-wrestler, intervene. At that point, McKenzie punched Dean in the face and knocked him out. XWA Wrestling also intends to release footage of this disgraceful incident shortly. Â Photos are by TONY KNOX and can be seen at the XWA Wrestling twitter page @XWAWrestling and the XWA Facebook group Morecambe Wrestling - XWA. Paid Members Big Benny HG Posted February 21, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 21, 2012 It's just over 2 weeks since this show now, so can't really add much of any relevance, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed my first XWA show in a couple of years. A great show; tremendous fun. Â Before the show, I just couldn't get it into my head that I wasn't going to the Morecambe Dome. My first impressions of the Carleton venue were that it was a right shithole. Run down, drab and looking very dated. It's certainly seen better days, that's for sure. Bizarrely, however, as the show was underway, I found myself liking it more and more and went away from there actually loving it. It's clearly a nightclub/cabaret venue, but it kinda looks like a television studio set-up in there. XWA use the venue well, with the stage, video screens (another new addition since last time I'd been - and they were great), camera positions, commentary station and using the DJ box for music, video etc control, and using the bar area for merchandise. Really good little set up. My travelling companion Gadge and I both agreed that it was all very reminiscent of EVOLVE/DGUSA/Chikara/ACE venue the 'ACE Arena' in Union City, NJ, USA. Â I loved the El Ligero vs. Jynkz match, thought it was excellent. I'd seen Jynkz before in GPW and thought he was a bit shit, but he was so much better here. I also loved Ligero here too, since he is usually the babyface in peril struggling against a heel and then making explosive and exciting comebacks, but was here case in a slower, more dominant, controlling role against the newcomer. He was able to show off a side you never normally see, even bordering on the aggressive and frustrated, and I found the whole bout to be utterly compelling. Brilliant. The GPW invasion angle/brawl afterwards was really sweet too. The attacking of Jynkz's younger brother "Dean Jynkz" was well-executed, and the use of the venue's own security staff to kick the invaders out was a hugely brilliant touch. The whole thing really drew me in, but I wonder if there'll be complaints from families about it being too real, too scary and too upsetting for youngsters. Having followed GPW closely over the past few years, though, I guess I'm going to have to choose a side..... Â Kraig Kollinzz looked alright in his bout too, but one negative (aside from the promos) is that his in-ring persona is very, very close to that of Johnny Phere. XWA already have one of those, and he does it perfectly well. Â I remember Manchester Massive vs. Blackpool Blondes being a hugely entertaining tag bout. The womens' 3-way and Phere vs. Nathan Cruz weren't all that, but the latter had the interesting set-up with Cruz for later on where he stared maniacally at the steel chair (why there would be a steel folding chair there, when every other seat in the room was a padded fixed job is beside the point;) ) and took it away with him. Â The Goldrush Rumble itself was, again, really good fun. I really wish they could expand it to 20 or even 30 men one time and be able to tell even more stories, but the main things that stick out to me were: - Dave Rayne being massively entertaining, as was Mad Man Manson; - Rockstar Spud (now a bayface here) getting a ridiculously huge, overwhelming megastar babyface reaction. Absolutely superb, and the way he worked it during his entrance and during the match itself was awesome. Genuine megastar here, which has massive potential. - The Sam Slam vs. Colossus exchange, ending with Sam being put through the announcers' table, was a really good set-up and I want to see what happens next. - The closing stretch, with Joey Hayes vs. Stixx (and Cruz returning to lay them both out with his chair) was just fantastic. An exciting a few minutes that I've ever seen in a UK rumble. Â I had originally been planning to attend the May date since, like this one, it comes the day after a GPW show just down the road the day before. However, with the date now moving to the next week, I doubted whether I would bother. Goldrush erased those doubts, and I left the show feeling guilty about how long it had been since I last saw an XWA show. I will now be doing all that I can to make it over to the north west 2 consecutive weekends. . A great opening to the 2012 season; see you in May, XWA...
