4 place drop for the bald-headed powerhouse.

On his home turf of the NBW promotion, Stixx began summer 2006 as one half of that promotion's popular babyface tag team champions alongside his partner Bubblegum and was in the middle of a feud with "Shooting Star" Kris Travis and his henchman James Tighe. After scoring successful tag defences against the teams of Paul Malen/Gabriel Osias Deville and Tighe/Travis, Stixx was set up to face Tighe in a big one-on-one grudge match for the No. 1 contendership to the NBW Heavyweight Championship.

Eventually scheduled for the first day of November's "Weekend Madness" double-header in Nottingham, Tighe had to pull out and was replaced with his former FWA Academy pal Eamon O'Neill. Stixx failed to earn a shot at Curve's NBW Heavyweight Title when he was defeated by O'Neill, but this was the start of a major change in attitude. Upset by his loss and egged on by former allies Sir Thomas Chamberlain and Ross Jordan, Stixx began adopting a meaner, nastier, rule-breaking attitude which saw him refuse to shake hands with O'Neill and cheat to win over Aviv Maayan. In February 2007, it would be this aggressive new outlook which cost him and Bubblegum the tag titles to Killer Instinct (Angelblade and Tiger X). When Bubblegum attempted to prevent Stixx from using a weapon, dissention between the two led to Stixx falling victim to the title-changing pinfall.

With his current partner Bubblegum feuding with his former partner Jordan, Stixx found himself in the middle. In his role as special guest referee of a match between the two at "April Fools Brawl" in, erm, April, he eventually - and predictably - turned fully fledged heel when he smashed the NBW Cruiserweight Title belt into Bubblegum's head, allowing Jordan to get the win. The new Jordan + Stixx alliance was to be known as the "Capital City Clique". It didn't get off to a good start, however. Shenanigans saw the bizarre situation of undeniable heavyweight Stixx substitute for his partner and defend Ross' Cruiserweight title in June on the "Rules Are Made to be Broken" Nottingham show, only for Stixx to end up losing his buddy's belt to El Ligero, thanks to interference from Angelblade...

NBW's close links with RDW, WAW and HEW have seen Stixx also feature for all of these promotions (along with much of the rest of the roster) at various times, as well as his continued appearances in BHW and others. He also appeared alongside NBW talent and become a major player on the shows of the much-liked SLAM Wrestling promotion in the Midlands. In June, Stixx also made his IPW:UK debut, joining forces with former FWA tag team championship partner Martin Stone and manager Dean Ayass, as they look to clash with Stone's rivals the Hated Heros (ANDY SIMMONZ!!, LT Summers and Aviv Maayan) and The Untouchables (Jack Storm and Dave Moralez). Defeating SIMMONZ!! and Summers in a wild brawl in July, there are surely more matches to come before the eventual heel turn...

Finally, Stixx ended up in 1PW as the muscle behind the heelish Darkside - backup for the Scot's on-going fued with Keith Myatt and 1PW security. With 1PW's supposed re-emphasis on British talent, Stixx may end up with a high-profile role to play.

No. 29 - James Tighe

2006 Ranking: 18

2005 Ranking 6

Moving Down

Another strange year for Mr Tighe that has seen him show signs of the firery, motivated Tighe of old, yet still fail to register in a big way. As such, his UKFF 50 ranking falls for the 2nd consecutive year...

Alongside "Anarchist" Doug Williams, Tighe represented the FWA at the unbelievably disappointing FWA vs. ROH vs. IPW:UK "Frontiers of Honor II" show in August 2006 in Swanley (boo). Though he and Williams came out the winners over Jack Storm and Dave Moralez (IPW:UK) and Austin Aries and Roderick Strong (ROH), the match wasn't all that good. The very next day, however, Tighe scored another huge win at IPW:UK's "Ware Is IPW?!?" show in.....Ware, defeating ROH's Austin Aries in a splendid wrestling match. The run of luck didn't last long, however, since the day after that saw him lose to Paul Robinson in a good-but-forgettable match at IPW:UK's "Summer Sizzler" in Orpington.

At IPW:UK's biggest weekend of the year ("2nd Anniversary Weekender" in Orpington) in September, Tighe was thrust into the spotlight and given his opportunity to shine. Scoring a huge win over Doug Williams in a solid match on the first night, Tighe qualified for a shot at Martin Stone's IPW UK Championship on Night Two. Although no-one ever believed that Tighe was going home with the belt (and he didn't), it was another good match which indicated that Tighe was back. October's "Extreme Measures III" event saw him slip right back down the ladder again, losing to Aviv Maayan in the first round of the one-night tournament. From there, Tighe did not feature in IPW:UK until February 2007...

In the meantime, Tighe had begun featuring on RQW's run of shows at York Hall in Bethnal Green, East London. Clashing with Jon Ryan in an excellent, memorable first-time match in November, Tighe then defeated Leeeeeeeeeee Rooooooooooooyy KINCAIDE in a dull match in February. The very next day, Tighe made his return to IPW:UK on the "Battle Two" event. By this point, the compelling FWA vs. IPW:UK feud was rightfully dominating shows, and Tighe was presented by FWA owner Greg "The Truth" Lambert as a surprise representative of the FWA, and presented with another title shot against Team IPW:UK leader, Martin Stone. Tighe, however, was reluctant to represent FWA after being a regular in IPW:UK for so long, and found himself arguing with his manager for the night, Lambert. When Tighe fell to Stone again, he showed his true colours by rejecting his place on Team FWA, throwing out the scheming Lambert, and declaring himself an IPW:UK loyalist. "Yay!!" said the fans in Orpington.

The FWA vs. IPW:UK feud spilled over to RQW, where Tighe scored a huge win over former FWA British Heavyweight Champion Hade Vansen in a TV match in March, before going on to face Doug Williams again the next day at the "era-ending" IPW:UK vs. FWA "Final Frontiers". This time representing the home team, Tighe defeated Williams again, and celebrated in the middle of the ring at the end of the night when FWA was vanquished when Martin Stone beat Flash Barker. Was Tighe on another roll in his stop/start career? It would seem so. IPW:UK's next series of shows were in Tighe's old FWA Academy stomping grounds of the Portsmouth area, close to his Chichester home. As such, Tighe was given something of a push, defeating Max Voltage and Jonny Storm in a one-night tournament to earn a title shot "at some point in the future", then successfully defending that shot against Damned Nation's Majik and then Voltage on the next two shows respectively. Tighe's run of success continued when he defeated touring Pro Wrestling NOAH stars Makoto Hashi and Atsushi Aoki in an enjoyable 3-way at the May Orpington show, and then felled Hashi again in a singles match back down in Portsmouth. Heading for the top? All signs pointed to it.

Tighe then returned to Doncaster's 1PW for the first time in almost 2 years at the recent "Know Your Enemy/Devils Due" weekend, where he and partner ANDY SIMMONZ!! showed off their new long-term tag team concept The Iron Lions. In what should come as no surprise to people who have followed Tighe's career, however, the run of high-profile wins soon ended, and he was right back where he started. He was defeated by former GHC Heavyweight Champion Takeshi Rikio at IPW:UK "The June Show!!", fell to WAW's The Kraft while representing IPW:UK in the Inter-Federation Cup, and then pinned by WAW leader Ricky Knight later that same night. This was followed by a loss to the returning Ashley Reed at "Unfinished Business" in July, and so the announcement that he will again represent IPW:UK (this time against 1PW's Darren Burridge) at the August show looks like becoming another costly loss, this time earning the controversial 1PW a shot at the Inter-Fed Cup.

However, they may be a direction to all of this. It has been clear to most fans that Tighe has been the man behind the mask of the mysterious "4th Hated Hero" on recent IPW:UK events, helping out SIMMONZ!!, LT Summers and Aviv Maayan where he can. With his unveiling surely imminent (unless IPW:UK decide to "screw" the smarks...), this would lead to a high-profile run with IPW:UK's top heel faction and undoubtedly a series against current champion, the much-loved JC Thunder.

In addition to all of these IPW:UK, RQW and 1PW exploits, Tighe has also featured in the East Midlands-based NBW, where he and tag partner Kris Travis tangled with tag champs Stixx and Bubblegum (see Stixx at #30 for details).

Consistency and a sustained run are what have been missing from Tighe's wrestling career for the past 2 years. If he can gain them, then it will come as no surprise to see a re-motivated Tighe reclimb the UKFF 50 in 2008.

No. 28 - "Irish Curse" Seamus O'Shaunnessy

2006 Ranking: 43

2005 Ranking: Not Eligible

Moving Up

Photo - www.ldnwrestling.com

Fresh off a tour with All-Star Wrestling, SOS' increased exposure in the UK co-incides with a climb up the rankings in 2007.

After weeks of hype videos on their "Capital TV" show making him look and sound like a big deal, SOS arrived into LDN Wrestling in late 2006 with the direct purpose of being programmed with then-LDN Champion Tex Benedict. The big title match occured in November in Enfield, North London, and the big Irishman ended up on the losing end by disqualification. Clearly uphappy with the decision, SOS beat the crap out of Benedict after the match, leaving him open to another attack from "Notorious" Jon Ritchie.

From there, Seamus headed to Real Quality Wrestling, where he took up a front row seat next to Mad, Mad Eli for the December York Hall show. Hey, it was free admission, and there were plenty of spare seats, so why not? It turned out to be the spark to set off an RQW feud between O'Shaunnessy and BCW's "Thee" Drew Galloway, as the big Scot mocked the big Irishman before his opening round match in that night's tournament. Though it didn't come to anything on that occasion, the second round match between Galloway and Pac saw SOS and Drew come to blows, which ended up costing Galloway the match, and a chance at the vacant RQW British Heavyweight Title.

It seemed to live attendees of the shows and viewers of their weekly TV show on The Wrestling Channel that the SOS vs. Drew Galloway feud had then been totally forgotten about, and it would be March 2007 before O'Shaunnessy would return to RQW. Beating Stu Sanders, everything pointed to the Galloway rivalry being back on. This time, it was! Nothing was settled in the first RQW one-on-one grudge match between the two, as they fought to a slow-motion double-countout in April on what proved to be RQW's last show at York Hall. To settle the issue, a No Holds Barred rematch was set for RQW's next show, in Colchester in June. This time seeing a conclusive finish, Galloway beat Seamus to draw a line under the feud and set up a match with RQW Champion Martin Stone.

While all of this was going on, however, it seems that WWE had taken an interest in the "Irish Curse". They had already taken a look at him before, but the April European tour allowed them to take a closer peek. Apparently liking what they saw, they signed Mr SOS (and his former 2007 RQW opponents Stu Sanders and Drew Galloway, and a few others) to a developmental deal which will see him try his luck in the WWE feeder system before potentially making it to international TV for the biggest game in town.

As such, this may possibly be SOS' last ever UKFF 50 appearance...

Ask, and ye shall receive:*********************************************************No. 33 - Conscience2006 Ranking: 352005 Ranking: 43Moving Upconscience.jpgPhoto - www.triplexwrestling.co.ukA consistent year for The Pryor sees him retain a consistent ranking in the UKFF 50.In his home SWA, Conscience moved on from his bitter feud with Majik, but found himself in somewhat of a downward spiral, losing consistently to the A-List, specifically Cage Tyler and Johnny Darko. In storyline terms, this losing streak meant that Conscience was on the verge of being dumped from the roster of SWA. September 2006, however, saw a re-motivated Conscience win the annual "Battlezone" to earn a new contract, and then set his sights firmly on "Vigilante" Johnny Moss....and the NWA British Heavyweight Championship. The two hard-hitters fought to a no-contest in a crazy brawl at "November 2 Remember", and then followed it up with a double-knockout in the equally chaotic and brutal rematch at January 2007's "New Year's Retribution". By pinning Moss in the specially-stipulated tag team main event of February's "Chaos on the Clyde", Conscience earned himself a final shot at Moss' UK Heavyweight title at "Clan Wars" in March - traditionally one of SWA's biggest events of the year (and their unique version of Survivor Series). In what was an emotional pro wrestling moment Conscience finally defeated Johnny Moss to become the first Scottish NWA British Heavyweight Champion.Succesfully defending the belt against Johnny Darko (and avenging his losses from the previous year) and Raging Bull, Conscience found himself the subject of attention of a mysterious masked man who came to be known as "John Doe". Doe was clearly interested in Con's championship. In a superb piece of booking, it proved to be the ultimate shocker when the mask was removed to reveal.......DOUG WILLIAMS. Conscience vs. Williams is now scheduled to be one of the huge main events for "The Gathering", the Scottish wrestling supershow being held in Glasgow in September.Conscience's exploits haven't been limited to Scotland, though with him not being booked by 3CW in the past 12 months his appearances south of the border have been more limited than in previous years. Triple-X Wrestling in Coventry has been his Engish home and has seen the continuation of his 3CW feud against the Damned Nation, with him being at odds with Gabriel Grey, Majik and Dragon Aisu for the entire past 12 months. As one third of the match to crown the first ever TXW Smash Champion at "~" in September, Con was attacked by Gabriel Grey's hickery stick, allowing Majik to beat Devilman for the victory. Con smashed the crap out of Grey at the next show in October ("Hallowe'en Jimmy Havoc") before going on to beat Grey's ally Dragon Aisu immediately after......by giving him a flaming superkick. Easy victories over Omer Ibrahim and R.I.P. on the next 2 shows eventually led to him facing Majik and Grey in a handicap match at "One More Tam" in June. A brilliantly surreal, almost satirical match saw him beat Grey with a Burning Hammer. Don't ask....

interesting wrestler i haven't seen him beforehas he got a website

No. 27 - "Paisley Wrecking Machine" Adam Shame

2006 Ranking: Not Listed

2005 Ranking: Not Listed

Moving Up

shame.jpg

Photo - www.triplexwrestling.co.uk

First ever UKFF 50 appearance for the SWA, TXW and former 3CW regular after somewhat of a breakthrough year.

Formerly Damned Nation member "Brother Shame" in 3CW, Adam returned to that promotion after a lengthy absence in November 2006 for "Night of the Damned" in Billingham, Teesside. Teaming with Vincent White as a part of a new tag team, The Firm, Shamer looked great in defeating fellow SWA stars Britain's Most Wanted (Scott Renwick and Damien O'Connor) that night. The Firm tag team - and Adam Shame - haven't been back in 3CW since...

North of the border, however, Shame has seen much more regular action for SWA. Entering the summer of 2006 as the main challenger to Eric Canyon's NWA Scottish Heavyweight title, Shame clashed with the champ numerous times, but always seemed to end up getting screwed out of the title. At "Violation II" in July, Canyon got himself disqualified, meaning Shame won the match....but not the title. The rematch took place at the huge "Battlezone!" show in September, but this time it was special referee Johnny Moss aligning himself with Canyon and ensuring that Shame went home empty handed. Later that night, however, the 30-man "Deal or No Deal" battle royal saw Shame win himself another shot at the NWA Scottish title. This 3rd shot was held under "I Quit!" rules, and took the main event position on SWA's "November 2 Remember" show. A bloody, weapons-based, building-wide brawl saw Shamer eventually lock Canyon in a full nelson, causing Canyon to quit and meaning the NWA Scottish Heavyweight gold went to Adam Shame, the emotional high-point of his career to this point.

From there, Shame found went back into battle with the A-List faction, a group he had battled on-and-off on occasion for months. A-List member Micken attacked Shame during a main event tag match in February 2007, and then pinned him in an 8-man elimination tag at "Clan Wars III" in March, allowing Micken to create a match for Adam's championship belt. The resulting title match, at "Point of Impact II" in April, saw Adam Shame retain by using Conscience's finishing move, only to be beaten down by the entire A-List gang, and then be saved by Conscience himself. This was presumably the next step in the Shame vs. A-List series, and the first step towards an eventual Shame vs. Conscience feud. I'll get back to that...

Back in England, "The Paisley Wrecking Machine" had already established himself as a core part of the Triple-X Wrestling roster, teaming with fellow SWA dudes Falcon and Chris Renfrew as a member of the Tartan Mafia group. A brutally violent feud with eXodus and JekkeL saw Renfrew taken out of TXW at "~" in September, and a Tables Elimination match set up for the next show. At "Hallowe'en Jimmy Havoc" in October , Shame and Falcon vs. exOdus and jEkkEl took the main event spot. Shame and Falcon fell to exodUs and jeKKel in a crazy, dangerous stunt-based brawl. TXW's excellent tag team division then saw the Shame/Falcon combo lose to Devilman and Edgar Stryfe in the main event of "Chop Him in the Valentines!!" in February 2007, but then come back to defeat Zack Sabre Jr and Jimmy Havoc in a great match at the "First Annual First Anniversary Show I". It would prove to be Shamer's last in-ring TXW participation for a while, since:

In a title vs. title match with his friend (and NWA British Heavyweight Champion) Conscience in May at SWA "Battlezone 2007" (set up by the A-List, who had won power at a previous show - complicated), Shame suffered a horrific leg break just minutes in when jumping from the ring to the floor. Now not expected back until October/November at the very earliest, Shame's incredible year has been put on hold.

After rising to become one of the very top stars on the Scottish wrestling scene and earning a cult following in England, Shame looked to be on the rise. Provided he can make a successful comeback, and start earning more high-profile bookings in wrestling promotions across the UK, you may well be hearing a lot more about Adam Shame.

Darkside, Wolfgang, Conscience, Falcon, Adam Shame, Drew Galloway and many others have all worked out of Scotland several times to the best of my knowledge so no I don't think they should be a bit lower.
