rockbus
DARKNESS FALLS Now, I'm usually a fan of bad horror movies (I've enjoyed all of Platinum Dunes output that I've seen so far!) but this too the biscuit. A film based around the fact that the tooth fairy wants to kill you, and she'll get you when it goes dark, so you have to stay entirely in the light at all times. Ridiculous. The main actor in it was terrible, making Ben Affleck look positively oscar-worthy, and Emma Caulfield, who was comedy gold in Buffy as Anya was just given nothing to use her talents on and became a terrified little woman running around screaming. Quite possibly the worst film I've ever seen.Worst. Film. Ever.Seriously, I HATE this film. You could have told me that this morning, before I wasted
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted July 9, 2007 Paid Members Share Posted July 9, 2007 there was a really good article in Fangoria a couple of months ago about Darkness Falls, on about the problems that went along with the shoot and stuff, it actually made me want to watch the film...i aint yet though. CaptainCharisma
Harsh Times is drivel. No it's not. Apart from the sometimes cringe inducing dialogue, the film is great. Why do you think its so bad your Seven-ness?It's like I said when I watched it three months ago...Seven's 'review'And I stand by that.Really?I can understand what you're saying, but don't you agree that the last 30-40 minutes of the film are just mindblowing?Like I said myself, the dialogue is a tad ropey with 'dude' dawg' and 'homie' said every other sentence, and there are some convenient coincedences thrown in throughout the film, but apart from that it's really well made. What whizz-bang trickery are you referring to? The only thing resembling MTV ADD Style movie making are the times where Bales character has those flashes back to the war...and they are there for a reason.I also liked the fact that Eva Longoria's character wasn't just there as T&A material, her role actually had some substance.Umm yeh, great film. Mr. Seven
The only mindblowing thing about the film is the fact that it went to the editing room and that's what came out. I'd say watch it again but you're clearly easily entertained, so there's really no point in trying to open your eyes, despite all it's glaring flaws being right there infront of you. Andy Shoes
Taxi Driver is definitely worth a watch, and De Niro is great. The effects at the end are a bit shite, but overall it's an enjoyable film. I still find 14 year old Jodie Foster as a prositute disturbing though...
tiger_driver
The Hitcher. Have not seen the original so cannot compaire the two. It Had me entertained for however long it was. Good popcorn throwaway movie. mmmmmmm and Sophia Bush Rest Stop. Run of the mill horror with a cuple of really bad actors (the boyfriend and the sherriff). Some good gore.Characters had no character but started to warm to the lead women (again ). Nice twist at the end.The Hamiltons. Another horror, bad acting etc but enjoyable enough.Cheech and Chongs 'Up in Smoke'. Still love this film after repeat viewings for nearly 15 years. Andy Shoes
Watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night, after not having seen it for a while. It's definitely not as good as i had remembered, and it's hard to like the part of Clementine. I used to enjoy her character after the initial scenes on the train, but i ended up just hating her throughout on this viewing. I actually found the story between Mary and Howard a lot more interesting, and thought it was real sad at the end when Stan had to let her go. I wish they had ran with that story more... Â Although i had forgotten David Cross was in it, that was a welcome surprise
