Its a difficult one and for me totally subjective.

As its not a genuine sporting competition, and with a pre-defined outcome, for me it was about making me 'care' and the excitement that came with it.

The obvious byproduct of this is how this then influenced my spending habits (ppv, toys, magazines, shirts etc) which if we are going with that as the yardstick as what a 'good' wrestler is (the ability to make me spend money on them, which is ultimately what a promotion wants) it for me is the likes of

Hogan, Warrior, Sting, Rock...even Sid etc

Are they Bret or Angle...no!!!! But I wasn't critiquing there moveset at the time, i was 'willing'them to best the count!

If they have both:

Angle, Rude, Bulldogs, Steiner, Bret, etc

It's double bubble (and i bought there stuff also)

A card headlined by Malenko vs Lance Storm or full of those matches whilst from a technical standpoint I'm sure would be beautiful and one for the purists wouldn't  have me parting money for them or buying there stuff. No offence to them as they are masters of the physical craft....i just need to be 'drawn' into the theatrics and drama of it to care!

Stop the clocks.... JRPO gets it.

Sid is one of the best. Certain corners of social networks would be tripping over their star ratings diaries to tell you Sid was a "bad wrestler" but actually, he was fucking brilliant.

New Jack. Obviously he can't wrestle for shit. I'm not even sure he knows how to take a single normal flat back bump - I don't recall seeing him do any. He basically had the exact same match over and over and even that wasn't very good. But he was great! Believable, threw a great punch, bursting with charisma, always had the fans going bonkers, brilliant promo, absolute nutcase. I loved him.

After 2 decades faint praise, even if its sarcasm!

For me when Sid invaded ECW and went berserk...basically maiming everyone and the crowd is begging for more is one of the greatest moments in wrestling!!!

The crowd were so bang onto his savagery i think if he'd have started legit killing the guys the crowd would have lapped it up!!!

That's the difference for me and the magic of wrestling.  Sid was limited...yes....but how many have had that crowd reaction???

You’re not wrong. For all the talk of the violence and vulgarity being short cuts, it very much added to Sid’s aura. When he came down shouting in mockery “There’s no man tough enough??!?? There’s no fuckin man BAD enough??!?!” to fight both Dudley Boys by himself at Living Dangerously, that was gold. Daft as it sounds I’d have considered Sid a relic if they’d dusted him off again in the 99 WWF of Austin and DX, and DID think WCW was again looking to the past instead and of future when he washed up there, but he fit right in in ECW - right time, right place. Wouldn’t have been a bad shout for “Short lived but good” either.
