RedTwoster Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Which wrestlers do you think could have been a much bigger deal had they not been missing one key element? For example, going back and watching the Attitude Era, I find Steve Blackman pretty compelling…until he speaks. Had he better mic skills, I reckon they’d have had - at the very least - a strong upper midcarder on their hands. I’d also put Jamie Noble forward for this one - if he was taller, I think he’d have ended up being quite a big star for WWE. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted November 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 4, 2024 Adam Cole is missing the part where he looks like a wrestler. He's Marko Stunt that people take seriously for some reason. Even his finisher is crap. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted November 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 4, 2024 Matt Morgan - had the look, the athleticism, is comfortable and charismatic on the mike; but, for some reason, he just couldn't put it all together in the ring. His stuff looked impressive, but it was just so disjointed and badly paced, it was very difficult to get into his matches. Quote

I also gave him a menthol cigarette in 2012 and never gave me one back, or offered me 50p that arse. And now he's stuck doing shit podcasts with Raj Giri. But he's a great shout. I thought going to TNA may have set him up on the right path, but it never seemed to click. Him and Ken Kennedy almost had all the right things, but just couldn't make it work properly. Quote

If Kennedy lacked anything, it was knowing when to keep his mouth shut. He sabotaged himself with some daft comments in interviews. If he came along now, even with his flaws, I reckon he’d have been much more successful. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted November 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 4, 2024 One has just come to mind: X-Pac/123 Kid. Even though he was a smaller guy, I think he might have made it to main-event level had he been a bit better on the mike. He looked athletic, had good gimmicks, could have great storytelling matches with anyone, could carry angles and storyline, could generate great heel and face heat, and sold like a champ. Quote
IronSheik Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Davey Boy Smith the British Bulldog only lacked mic skills, otherwise he'd have gotten over as a world heavy champion. He had pretty much every other component. He wasn't tall but he made up for it in strength and roidedness. He could work his ass off in the ring and was a great entertainer. Quote

RoryT Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 When Steiner became more charismatic on the mic and was main event material, his in ring work was a shadow of what he could do in his prime. There is a lot of guys who could have been top tier if they could talk better, and on the other hand you had guys.like the Pope who seemed to have charisma and could work the mic but his in ring stuff never really clicked.
