Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 21, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted April 21, 2022 (edited) Back to back Bellator shows this weekend, as if we didn't have enough MMA going on. Both taking place in Hawaii though which is great news, I dont expect crowd to be as rampant as they once were in Hawaii but i'll always have a soft spot for the place as an MMA location. 278: 279: Saturday's show is the better of the two, two Bantamweight Grand Prix fights on the card and if you look closely you'll notice the Bellator debut of Yancy Medeiros on the undercard against Emmanuel Sanchez, thats gonna be a scrap! Just a shame they didn't bring back Cabbage Correira for the occasion. Edited April 21, 2022 by Egg Shen

Paid Members Carbomb Posted April 23, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2022 Is it me or does Velasquez vs. Carmouche look like a sibling rivalry?
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 23, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2022 (edited) Didn’t have a lot of interest in last night’s show but I’ll definitely be dipping into tonight’s. I’ll never not tune in for a Cyborg demolition job and Patchy vs Horiguchi should be a cracker. There’s a few ex UFC names on there. Medeiros as Ebb mentioned. Plus Kai Kamaka, who had a couple of fun prelims. And Justine Kish, who was most known for actually shitting herself during a UFC fight live on FOX Sports. And for the bum cheek enthusiasts among us, the Randi Field fight might be worth a look. …anyway. Back to fighting. I’m still amazed the UFC have never been to Hawaii. Why is that? Back when BJ Penn was on top of the world you’d have thought it was a no brainer. I remember Penn pushing for it as well but it just wasn’t to be. Dana always said there were issues with doing it there but what were they? It wasn’t banned there for ages like in New York, was it? And Coker’s had no problems bringing Bellator there. They’ve been a few times now haven’t they? Just imagine if they’d had a BJ Penn title fight in Hawaii at the height of his prime? The Florian or Sanchez fight or something. Would’ve been pretty special. I hope Max Holloway gets to fight there once before it’s all said and done and preferably before his prime ends. I know he fought there before the UFC but it’s not the same is it? He was only a kid and nowhere near the fighter and name he is now. He deserves that moment. Edited April 23, 2022 by wandshogun09
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 23, 2022 Author Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2022 yeh i skipped last nights, Liz Carmouche is a World Champion though! who'd have thunk it. There's been a lot of debate regarding the finish, ive seen it and didnt think it was that bad. Danny Sabatello seems to have stolen the show though, he dominated Jornel Lugo then cut this promo. he's gonna be an interesting character to follow. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 23, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2022 (edited) There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Carmouche vs Velasquez stoppage for me. Most of the moaning seems to be about the fact that there were only a few seconds left in the round but the referee isn’t supposed to be watching the clock, they’re there to keep tabs on the action and look out for the fighter’s safety. Velasquez was stuck in the crucifix, ate a ton of unanswered shots and wasn’t (and really couldn’t) defending herself as her arms were trapped. Another 15-20 seconds of that wouldn’t have been good. Like imagine if the ref in the Yair Rodriguez vs Korean Zombie fight would’ve been watching the clock instead of the action when that elbow landed in the dying seconds? Completely different outcome. Zombie would’ve been out cold but almost certainly won on points. Edited April 23, 2022 by wandshogun09
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 25, 2022 Author Paid Members Share Posted April 25, 2022 Ended up skipping these and catching highlights. I'd overdosed on fights the couple of days before. Raufeon Stots is the story. Feels like he's come out of nowhere to claim the Interim Banamweight title, he's a character too. Patchy Mix beating Horiguchi was a shocker too, some upsets on this card. Yancy Medeiros winning too! i thought Sanchez was gonna grind that out.
