Merry Christmas folks, hope you've all had a blinder. Unless by some cruel coincidence any of you were accidentally blinded over the festive period in which case, replace that word with something more appropriate. Come to think of it, if you have, you won't be able to read this anyway so I don't know what I'm worrying about...

Right, anyway, a thread destined to die on its arse but since the mega threads were binned off its the best I've got for you these days.

So I got a few bob in iTunes vouchers for Christmas and aa is probably apparently I'm somewhat...set in my ways let's say I still watch the same films and listen to the same music I did 20 years ago with no inclination whatsoever to seek out anything new. So that's where you come in..

You know when you buy something off Amazon and you get the "people who bought this also bought..." Well that's what I'm looking for. Below is a random selection of songs from my iPod.

If you like them, then I'd like you to recommend me something you think I'd like, based on our mutual fondness of said track and slim likely hood that our common tastes may stretch beyond it.

So what you got for me people? Here goes...

Lonely Boy - Andrew Gold

A Different World - Iron Maiden

Maniac - Michael Sembello

Stranger Than Fiction - Bad Religion

Superman - Skee Lo

We Close Our Eyes - Go West

Ever Since the World Began - Survivor

Anything from Rocky goes without saying.

Over to you..

Lonely Boy - Andrew Gold

***** You want some Yacht Rock - I'd go for Christopher Cross's "Sailing" as a starter

A Different World - Iron Maiden

***** Anything by Helloween, particularly from the Keeper Of The Seven Keys album

Maniac - Michael Sembello

***** Check out the unearthed classics by Nigerian electro outsider, William Onyeabor

Stranger Than Fiction - Bad Religion

***** Anything by The Descendents, particularly the brilliant "Silly Girl"

We Close Our Eyes - Go West

***** Anything by King, particularly the sublime "Love & Pride"

Ever Since the World Began - Survivor

***** Ooh, I love AOR. Journey's other songs are worth checking out, particularly "Separate Ways"

Glorious idea for a thread, although I find the title very insensitive — I got wasted on the 26th, and woke up in the paddock at Newmarket, for the 3:30. Wearing blinders.

I'm going on the premise that you might like a recommendation, even if I don't specifically like the track you listed.

Andrew Gold "Lonely Boy" — As Linus said, go with some Yacht Rock: I suggest the Doobie Brothers, "What a Fool Believes".

Iron Maiden "A Different World" — Not generally my kind of thing, so I can only really direct you to The Dictators, "Who Will Save Rock and Roll?"

Michael Sembello "Maniac" — Some/any Laura Branigan: Obviously "Gloria," but "Self Control" is also surpassingly brilliant.

Survivor "Ever Since the World Began" — "Hold the Line" by Toto.
