ultimo the great
I'm really starting to get on the "Fuck off international football" bandwagon UEFA Euro 2016 qualification (various groups)Estonia 0-3 England (Sunday 5pm)Ireland 4-0 Gibraltar (5pm)Northern Ireland 2-0 Faroe IslandsPoland 1-3 Germany w/BushwhackerDelRomania 2-1 Hungary (5pm)Scotland 2-1 Georgia (5pm) African Nations Cup qualifying Group ASudan 0-2 Nigeria (6pm)
Prince Nana
I'm getting a wee bit like that, but that is because I'm enjoying my teams season. If you wern't the break may he more welcome.
Fog Dude
^ But aren't you a Hearts fan Nana? They played and won at the weekend despite the international break! Anyway, the results went into the opening post on Sunday evening straight after the England game, then I immediately updated and uploaded the table, which is usually the hard part. Then I totally forgot about the easy part of bumping this thread last night as I was too wrapped up in essays and birthday stuff. Sorry for the slight delay. It was a low-scoring round by the standards of international weeks. Only five participants made it into double figures, one of whom was The Ratt, who extends his lead back up to 13 points. Another was second best performer Zebra Kid Mark, who moves off last place, a full 4 points ahead of Seph. Shy Dad clings on grimly to despite being lowest scorer on that same number of points this time out, fewer even than ultimo who missed Friday's matches. Del avoided that ignominy although he got his D2D wrong. It's difficult to find a fixture in which Germany look like not winning, especially now that they're world champions, but he keeps making them his first choice. And yet, it would've been wise for more than one of the other twenty-one participants (1 in 21? where've I heard that before?!) to bet against them for once. Nobody other than this week's top scorer Rory could even bring themselves to back a draw. Mr Fice is duly rewarded for his willingness to plump for an unlikely Polish victory with only 2 measly bonus points, but also a climb to fourth position in the standings. He was also the only player to get the exact scoreline from the Aviva too, but then again, everybody else took one point from that mismatch. Elsewhere around the continent, a score draw in Bucharest proved more fruitful than a stalemate in Cardiff, whilst narrow away wins for the Czechs and Croats way back on Friday were a mixed bag, the latter triumph yielding more points. An equally narrow success in the aforementioned Tallinn clash was mainly of use for one-pointers, but positive outcomes for the Home Nations against Georgia and the Faeroes turned out to be easier to foresee. My attempt to pad out the card with a token non-European tie resulted in a dud as Nigeria suffered a surprise reverse in Khartoum. Since this is late, I'll get straight on with the next thread and a welcome return for domestic top-flight club action.
