Wow, I'm not used to being the last one to make their picks. This has been a crazy week. The link to the table in the first post has been up-to-date since sometime yesterday, but the round-up of the previous week seems to have fallen by the wayside. Looks like we're heading for a 3-part larger update again after this round.

The final scores have been in the original post since Sunday night, and even the usual table link was updated before midnight UK time. As it turned out, last week was a good one to have connection problems and generally be ridiculously busy, because even without a round-up there wasn't much to report. The top 4 managed 8 points apiece and the best and worst scorers were the same as this week: sivy and Lawz. It was just the other way round last time.

The one bit of housekeeping that does need tying up though, is the poll on how long this goes on for. At least one person who regularly plays the FPL didn't vote, and a significant chunk of those who did nulled their vote on one or both questions. Rory was the only person to bother to comment even though I invited them in the opening blurb, and as luck was have it his preference is how the poll fell. I decided to quantify a 'bumper' round for the first time as a minimum of 24 games (since it has to be clearly more than a mere 'double') because I was worried if we went long there wouldn't be enough league and cup matches to fill up a much bigger card than usual. I've since done some digging however, and found that we can get to 35+ fixtures fairly easily. So, a week 42 finish it is then, hundreds of points still up for grabs and all to play for at both ends of the table.

Back to this week then, and as mentioned sivy was top scorer after having a stinker last time with just a brace of points, he rediscovered his form from the first half of the season and in the process handed everyone else a bonus point. That performance halted BushwhackerDel's charge towards the top 5 and puts him back to within 20 points of the summit. After a few weeks level on points with stunstone, snowman dave retakes the outright lead by a full 6 points after joining Del and Two-Face in also managing double figures. He's been eroding his rival's narrow advantage in having more exact scores lately too. Arguably just as interesting are the developments at the less desirable end of the standings, where the gap to tom is down to a worryingly low 2 points for El Espanacas. Lawz deserves a special mention for scoring the most in the last round despite not taking a punt on the Galician derby but only garnering 3 points from a full slate of 10 games just a week later - and he has sivy to thank for a third of that total!

So in a fairly high-scoring round, where we points won and lost? First of all, none from Salford where there was a dud result as even resident Toffee steve didn't think Everton would get anything at Old Trafford. Nor would anybody have reasonably backed the sharing of 8 goals beforehand. Crazy scoreline. In the EPL thread Magnum pointed out that Villa-Sunderland had a goalless draw written all over it, and in hindsight he's right, but though most players here went for the draw, guessing a stalemate was more elusive. Home victories at Ewood Park, Craven Cottage, the Sports Direct Arena (tee hee) and even Loftus Road - where Spurs' poor spell continued - proved more fruitful.

City's win at Molineux was also foreseen as fairly straightforward, and indeed many expected a wider margin of victory. Still good for one-pointers, mind. Bolton's failure to overturn an already-safe and patchy Swansea didn't do certain people much good, while Valencia's sudden upturn in form was another match where a side surprisingly knocked 4 goals in, preventing any exact scores. Last but not least, the other Cl
