so what if they start up the WWE Network then? Would Raw/Smackdown and all the shows move over then? How do they fill say 12 hours a day of programming? Classics, roundtables, documentaries etc?

Really interesting watch though, thanks!

Im not sure, depends what length deals they have with USA and whatever Smackdown is on now.

Theyd probably go for atleast one episode of original programming a day i.e Monday Raw, Tuesday Tough Enough, Wednesday NXT, Thursday Superstars, Friday Smackdown etc. Fill the rest with old stuff, repeats, recap shows, documentaries, stuff from the tape library and other stuff.

What would be nice to see is if they ran some old episodes completely as they were in sequence, perhaps run like a year or two of smackdown / raw from some other time - i guess the issue with this is their PG commitment, I guess they'd want to go with that on their network, so it kinda blocks quite a bit from being shown :(

I cant see them doing that, it would just conflict with the current product they are trying to put out. I can see them however showing old WCW, ECW events etc as well as maybe classic WWE events as specials.

Youd probably see them create new programming, imagine Wrestlemania day they'd want to have the entire day as a live build up to the event to create more buys.

Have all Man Utd matches moved over to MUTV?

to be fair thats different as that isnt United's call to make, the Premier League have the rights to the games, not the club. Also, United would lose millions in revenue if they boycotted Sky coverage to show matches exclusively on MUTV even if they were allowed

I agree but they have a contract that will end, it is a totally different situation, trying to make out they're the same doesnt make it true. I cant see it for the revenue reasons either but its still not the same

Whilst true, it would surely be the general plan that when available all WWE content would move onto its own network, providing its an initial success.

It would be a moronic plan if so. WWE's vanity channel is only ever going to be watched by existing wrestling fans. They still need flagships on proper stations for visbility and status purposes, let alone costs.

They should just keep RAW & Smack Down where they are, whilst moving Tough Enough, NXT & Superstars to the WWE Network.

Also, seeing as it's WWE's Channel, they could put all the WWE Films Movies on there just to fill out the station a bit & to have some programming that isn't Wrestling, but still features their talents.

By keeping RAW & Smack Down where they are, you keep that as your PG product for today's market if PG is going to be around for a while & so that potential sponsors & investors see that WWE are still keeping things relatively family / kid friendly, but, I would make the WWE Network either TV 14 or M to get away with broadcasting things uncut & uncensored from the Attitude era, ECW, show matches with Graphic Violence / Blood & risque' Promos.

Win / Win for everybody & everybody's kept happy / content.

Only thing I see being omitted from WWE Network would be any & all Benoit matches.

Yeah, the shareholders would be doing happy dances when all the family-friendly sponsors and advertisers dump the brand because there's blood, swearing and tits all over the WWE network.

But as already said, who are going to be the main subscribers to the Network anyways, mainly existing Wrestling fans, or, maybes ones hoping to see things from yester year, ya know, the ones who blame PG for current content problems.

If the network is PG & not showing anything different to what's on RAW or Smack Down now, nobody is gonna be interested & will be another failure.

Besides, the sponsors & execs should be able to see / understand that this is Archive footage / old habits & not what WWE would currently be pushing to todays audience.

The past is the past & if sponsors or investors are put off by old, previous content, well, they shouldn't be looking to strike a deal with WWE then & they are quite stuck up.

As long as WWE are currently concentrating on promoting & pushing their current product as PG, that's what matters & what is shown on their network channel should be of no concern.

Raw would stay where it is, that's where the money comes from, their own network would be comprised of new original programming such as NXT and such as well as the catalogue from AWA/WCW/DVDS/ECW .

Exactly.

Just with somebody above mentioning how heavily the Attitude era stuff or ECW tape collection would be edited, it would mainly just be like the Best of RAW DVD sets they offer now instead of full episodes (which I presume most fans would want, considering it's an actual WWE / Wrestling network) once they hit their non PG content time era.

"It's alright, it's only mongols with Observer subcriptions who watch the WWE network" is not going to be a valid excuse if Mattel phones up kicking off about WWE broadcasting gore and profanity on their station in 2012.

Nonsense based on nothing other than your own fancies.

Only they would be "pushing it to today's audience" by promoting the fuck out of it on Raw and SmackDown -- and even if they weren't, it'd still have WWE logos everywhere and be broadcast in the present day.

The past is the past & if sponsors or investors are put off by old, previous content, well, they shouldn't be looking to strike a deal with WWE then & they are quite stuck up.

Why do you think WWE have gone PG and sanitised things at all then? Why didn't they just go "fuck it we're just gonna do the attitude era until the end of time lol, nevermind what stuck up advertisers want"? Because that would be the business attitude of a fucking simpleton, that's why.

The network would be a current product regardless of how much archive footage it used.
