The results went in the original post on Sunday night your time, and the table was updated later on Monday morning (from my point of view), but the connection's been cack here since then. Well, a curious week then. Despite a poor round last time, Lawz was the best-placed person to stop hbk4life from coasting to the title, and he decided not to take part this time - he can't have missed the thread because he's been posting a lot lately, as you'd expect around WrestleMania time. It means I've gone second, which is in danger of looking dodgy if I'm the main challenger, and I'd rather let it be a procession from now on than actively try to deny hbk4life the championship he so cruelly missed out on last year. Which isn't much incentive for anybody else to keep playing, I concede.

Anyway, the Spanish strike didn't go ahead after all, and the replacement games weren't too helpful. Porto winning at the Estadio da Luz was less difficult to foresee than Sporting conceding a last-minute equaliser away from home though. Closer to home, a draw in the Edinburgh derby helped quite a few participants to gain at least a point, just as Aberdeen's loss on a no doubt terrific Fir Park pitch was quite widely expected. Meanwhile most players correctly guessed that Carlisle would make up for last season's disappointment by taking the tinpot cup back to Cumbria, so it was left to the EPL to provide headaches with its trademark unpredictability this campaign.

Spurs failed to win in a stalemate at Wigan, Newcastle destroyed Wolves, Liverpool got nothing at the Hawthorns, Everton couldn't manage a victory against Villa at Goodison, and Chelsea were held at the Britannia. All outcomes were hard to guess, the exact score at St James's being especially fruitless. All that meant scoring was back to normal, only brownie and joe mills getting into double figures. The former was top scorer, with the opposite distinction going to TildeGuy. Seph avoided that dubious honour despite seemingly forgetting about the Saturday matches, and the gap at the wrong end remains the same after the bottom 3 all got 7 points - not bad going for them!

Coming up in a few hours then, a new set of 10 including another final to a minor competition and as promised, some Spanish fixtures. Other than that it's just plodding along until things get almost interesting at Easter, which is mystifyingly late this year.

Doesn't that show how much I rule at this game? I can miss a whole day's picks and beat an entire third of the field

... what? you were expecting Jean-Luc?
