matbro1984
Am I correct in saying though that when DVD sales are eventually factored in, these films do in fact draw a profit? You are correct. Then we are doomed to keep getting them. It's about making money, and if people are still buying the shit, why wouldn't they keep churning it out? Kind of analogous to WWE's core itself. The Gaffer
I imagine the profit is the most pointless of drops in the ocean though given the total revenue intake WWE does in one year. Make no mistake about it this is ego tripping for Vince. Or 'extending the global brand'. Depends what spin you want to put on it. Â Remember that Triple H is an entertainer. Not a wrestler. There is no reason why he shouldn't flourish in all sorts of roles etc.
wrestlingmad
I'm not surprised. This film looked shite. Â I quite liked The Marine and The Condemned. When I went to the RAW Taping last november I think they showed the Knucklehead trailer around 15 times in total, so I felt obliged to give it a download atleast. Might just watch that now! Â In wrestling film talk, I downloaded Ready to Rumble last night of XWT. Been searching for that film for years! I lost my VHS copy of it from when I was a kid. Personally I love it even if it was kinda bad! Anymore love for Ready to Rumble?
MrM
The film won't register because of the limited number of cinemas it has been released in. That's not the point. WWE Films is building slowly but steadily and each movie has turned a profit due to DVD sales. As a production company they are still relatively small fry and it's a work in process. Â Vince will make it work, and in 5 years from now I bet there is a WWE Film production that has turned over $5 - $10 million from cinema sales. The Total Package
Personally I love it even if it was kinda bad! Anymore love for Ready to Rumble?  Sting showing up as Batman whats not to like, every WCW fan should have that movie  The only WWE film I liked was that Horror one with Kane, I like Horror films in general, I did not think it was too bad, although i think lionsgate did help produce that film as well, everything else WWE have done has looked shit, so I dont even bother, Chaperone looks like some shit you'd see on Channel 5 in the mid-day. The article points out that the bottom five films in the registered list were all screened in less cinemas than The Chaperone. Â Why do you think Vince will just make it work based on him being Vince McMahon? The guy has a horrible track record when it comes to promoting anything outside 'rasslin/sports entertainment. I wish I could share your optimism on this one.

chaosphere
Am I correct in saying though that when DVD sales are eventually factored in, these films do in fact draw a profit? Regardless of how shit. They factor in, but WWE's film division has lost money every year its been around I believe. It lost $1,000,000 last year alone, which is up from the previous years I suppose. Austin and Cena's films were apparently mega flops, with Austin's being the worst. Could be wrong on this, but I'm sure I read that WWE's film division is a bottomless pit when it comes to actually making money. Makes you wonder why they keep going with it. Â I've had a theory for a while that it's just kept around nowadays as a vanity project to try and stop bigger names like Cena from drifting away from WWE and into movies. $1m is probably peanuts compared to how much profit is made from Cena merchandise. Â If they did some movies aimed at the hispanic markets starring Rey Mysterio or later Albertio Del Rio they may actually turn a profit. After all a load of lucha stars have made tv shows and movies over the years and have been successful.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted February 22, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 22, 2011 All of the WWE films so far have been terrible. Not a single one of them has approached anything resembling entertaining or decent. If they actually made a point of trying to actually make something half-decent rather than lazily trotting out shitty horror films and action films, they might fare better. I dare say there are a few guys in WWE who could knock out a decent acting performance or two.
Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted February 22, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 22, 2011 Ive onl actually seen 2 films in recent years with WWE stars, both of which i think were wwe productions.  One was the film where Austin had street fights for money  The other was where the rock lived in a small town and had a fight in a casino, thats basically what i can remember.   I really want to see a spoof wrestling film with quite a few wwe stars involved. Like a road trip film where a group of wrestlers travel to the next arena in a hired car and they get in to lots of trouble. etc bollocks etc.  For whatever reason i would quite enjoy something like that, depends on how its written and yes, i have just made this dire idea up just to have input in this thread. And Kanes one was alright.

I believe you're talking about "Damage" and "Walking Tall" neither of which IIRC are WWE produced films.  Personally i think some of the WWE films are alright, i enjoyed The Marine, See No Evil, The Condemmed and 12 Rounds sort of in the same way i enjoy films like True Lies, Cliff Hanger and whatever else ITV2 churns out to try and fill up the channel.  On another note i'd love to see some kind of road trip-style WWE movie but it would have to star Santino and Goldust otherwise i'd be pissed off. Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted February 22, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted February 22, 2011 Ah right ok, well considering i thought both were a bit meh, ive never really bothered with any others. Are you lot saying that WWE films are generally worse than these?
ajmcstyles
I didnt mind knucklehead, saying that I had quite a few brewski's by then and I was extremely bored. See No Evil I have found to be the best out of a bad bunch.
